It's interesting what you guys said about Jimmy getting new fans from the Joke. I kinda think he needs to be aware that some of the new fans won't see it as a joke or a stage persona and he might end up with people at gigs he doesn't want. Same thing happened to Stanhope in the UK. People see clips out of context and he ended up with a load of mad racist bastsrds at his shows.
Looking forward to Adam on the Isle of Man 👊

Jokes are jokes, nothing is said seriously and whoever attends or watches those shows online knows it beforehand

I think the main issue here is the perception of travellers across the country.
The people getting really offended by this, which they are in their right to, are the twitter mob and people in cities and such, like politicians, they see a joke like this and think it’s just an attack on a marginalised community.
If you go up to the north east and Yorkshire and Humber there is an absolute genuine hatred of travellers because of what they are doing up there. And that’s why he’s done the joke, because there is a fair group of people in the country that despises travellers.
You wouldn’t get away with the joke if it was a community where everyone has the same opinion of them like Adam and Dan said.

Very justifiable to not like the traveller community

In my opinion no he didn’t, I don’t understand why THAT joke was too far, in my honest view, it wasn’t even the worst joke that night

I thought it was quite an informative joke with a classic 'ba boom tish' at the end.
People laugh at the truth of it.
      Gypsies are not well liked.
That is a truth. The joke didn't say it was ok to not like gypsies. It just confirms a truth. That is why the joke is funny, right?.
The joke acknowledges how demonised gypsies were and are.
Why would gypsies, or anyone, argue with that truth?
Sometimes I wonder whether some Jewish people who are offended by this joke, are offended by the jokes implication that perhaps the gypsies had it worse. Maybe some Jewish people find a joke about the Holocaust more offensive when it is not about them?!
I think people need to start recognising the true skill of comedy and joke writing and the value and service it can have to society as a whole. Often as a vehicle for truth and exploration of that truth, and used more as a pressure release valve than, actual antagonist, bullying that it can more often and very wrongly be accused of. People do not unpack jokes enough, and often make themselves look foolish when they don't.

Have you seen Akash Singh's new special. I think his joke about Native Americans being like bit coin... He believes they exist but he's never got his hands on one.
I think this may be the same with 'Roma gypsies'. Who has actually met a gypsy that isn't just straight up Irish?

my thing with it is, my family are traveller, something i’m very proud of so i’m biased against this as i’m not neutral as he’s said it against my people and therefore will be immediately not happy with it, but i think you can say it’s jsut a joke, and although that’s a cop out excuse imo it is hard to argue with cause it obviously was made with somewhat comedic intent. i think the thing i will say is he straight away acknowledged how the holocaust was damaging to another marginalised group, he said outright that the genocide was wrong and then decided a group who have also suffered, not saying we’ve suffered any more than the jewish community might i add, were fine to be used as cannon fodder for a cheap joke
