  • DOUBLE DROPTINE Legend | Mark Drury’s 3 Year Quest for One of the Rarest Whitetails He’s Hunted.
On this episode of Deer Season 24, we share the full story of a double drop tine legend in Iowa. It all starts in the summer of 2021, as Mark Drury gets trail camera photos of a giant double drop tine buck that he estimated to be a 4.5yo. After a couple different great encounters that fall, Mark can’t wait to see what he looks like next year at age 5.5. The summer of ‘22 rolls around and the double drop tine buck has lost his drops! There are no encounters with him in the fall of ‘22. When the summer of ‘23 arrives, Mark and the guys are doing everything they can to prepare for the double drop. If he’s still alive, he will be 6.5yo this year and hopefully his drop tines are back! Mark and the guys finally get pictures of him in late October, and they are happy to see his double drop tines are back! After many hunts, and one encounter, Mark heads in on Thanksgiving evening with high hopes of laying eyes on this legendary whitetail. It isn’t long before Mark spots him in the grass, staring at the food plot. After what seems like forever, the double drop tine finally makes his way into bow range and offers Mark a shot. And that’s where the story really begins. We hope you enjoy this episode and as always thank you for watching!

Mark thanks for showing us the ugly side of hunting. It's a tough one because of the backlash you may get from the public, but despite that you showed it anyways and I applaud you! You owned up to your mistake and didn't try to sugar coat it or make excuses. And it happens to all of us, you hunt long enough you will make a bad shot. I assume that buck wasn't dead until days or maybe a week later due to infection. Some mature bucks are hard to kill and have one hell of a will to live. I've shot multiple bucks double lung, and the furthest one I ever tracked went 700 yrds. Hit top of lung and exited lower side of far lung. Could not believe it. I've had gut shot bucks go longer than 24 hrs before finding them still alive in their beds. There are no absolutes in hunting.

I could watch the Drurys hunt all day. I'll probably never get to hunt the Midwest for giant whitetails so I live that dream through you guys and gals. Thanks for all the wonderful footage. Amazing job. Just remember how lucky and blessed you guys are.

I have personally tracked with Tracker John just this last season with another popular hunter from another show and I was very impressed. He is next level and never gives up. That said you have to remember it can truly be like finding a needle in a haystack. In the case of the track we were on, he was successful due to his persistence. Best in the business.

One heck of a buck. At the 5:06 mark in 2021 he looked a lot like the Trap Line buck from back in the day. Pretty cool, I think you even shot the Trap Line buck out of that same plot/blind down in that bottom. Glad you were able to eventually recover him with some help from Jeff and Dave.

Unfortunate that you didn't recover him sooner, but at least you got the rack.
It seems that most of your hunting now is done in box stands over fields and food plots. Do you ever get back in the woods and hunt rub lines, scrapes, acorns, travel corridors, or thickets anymore?

I wonder what he would have been at 7? He had some bumps coming on , on every tine! Amazing stuff fellas, true giant we all dream of! Good on you for your efforts, i have become a fan over the yrs cause im a skeptical person but you all proved to me little by little that i was wrong! I hate to be like that but there is a lot of big productions out there that is just to much and it's Dollars over everything else most the time( bone collector) is one i go to cause i think they started out good and eventually just became product pushers ( rub line slime)! They seem to be trying to turn that around but it's almost to late! They seem to sway towards whatever the hunting trend is at the time! Unfortunate cause there personalities are awesome and very camera friendly with there comedic stuff! May just be me but i think they could have been really big stars but let to much corporate BS into it! Yall stay real and I'll stay tuned in! I listened to all y'all's stuff on Spotify and i get some good laughs! Keep on keeping on!

After Terry fell out of one and literally broke his back, it shook us all up. We’re lucky he’s still alive. We still love our tree stands and still use them, but the box blinds have brought a lot of peace of mind after that incident. Not to mention, it allows us to get the footage that our online friends enjoy to watch.

They mention the sponsors because that’s part of the deal to get the sponsorship. That’s how it works. If they didn’t mention it, people might not know a company sponsored them, which would defeat the purpose of the company investing in a sponsorship. This is basic business marketing.
