Wishmaster was an old song, really good in it's time, but you can't compare this old song with what is Floor doing today. The closest to compare is the music from the End of an Era DVD or one of my favorites song sang by Tarja is I wish I had an angel. She is so powerful an aggressive singing this song.

I love Tarja's voice, it has a very unique sound that I always want to come back to 🌷 her voice was warmer during the From Wishes to Eternity concert, after studying in Germany she trained to make her voice become more clearer, which you mentioned!! Deep Silent Complete from the From Wishes to Eternity concert is very beautiful and shows her richer and warmer sound! :)
Tarja is an opera singer doing metal, whereas Floor is a metal singer who can sing some opera. That's the fundamental distinction, along with the difference in vocal coloring - Tarja's is colder/darker, which I think is what you meant by "thinner". Where Tarja is unmatched, still, is her ability to sing effortless-sounding operatic at this crazy power metal pace. Floor normally chooses to bring it down a register doing these older NW songs, where she at her most effective.
Tarja is more lyrical-operatic, Floor is power/heavy metal. Floor can’t sing opera, though. She can make operatic-like sounds, but she can’t actually sing it correctly. And that’s fine, she’s not an opera singer and never claimed to be, I guess.

To truly appreciate Nightwish all the seasons need to be felt, from past to present. You will see themes of desperate love, sadness, grief, hope, soul awakening, imagination, the change from winter to spring, joy and happiness, gratefulness of life and wonder of the universe. The story of Nightwish hits so deep, Tuomas is a deep soul and this story that has been painted is incredibly moving. Nightwish is like a book that must be read in it´s entirety. My experience of Nightwish became so much stronger the more I knew and understood about them. It´s all connected and makes for a beautiful journey. Thanks for doing this one :D
Well said. I loved Tarja, then didn't even know Anette was in between because I stopped running in concerts. Had Army and work after that and those took all my time.
We LOVED Tarja. Nightwish was in our eyes and ears, absolute perfection.It was a crushing blow when she left the group. But she left us with an enormous catalog of great songs to continue enjoying. There shouldn't be any drama around who is fronting the band. Tarja & Annette did their best and at the end of the day it is NIGHTWISH!
This is the ultimate Tarja song. Floor had a go at it during their concerts in Japan but... no, it is and remains a true Tarja song. Just as there are true Floor songs and true Anette songs. BTW Floor and Tarja are friends: it dates back to the time when After Forever (Floor's first band) opened for NW in 2002-2005. They have appeared together on stage.
I totally agree with your perception of Tarja's vs Floor's voice. To appriciate Tarja fully, I'd recommend "Walking In The Air" - she takes you on an almost ethereal journey in that masterpiece of NW. As I stated in a comment on another NW-video: I loved NW with Tarja and couldn't come to grasps with the change to Anette - even if the albums with her as a lead singer were the most successful NW albums commercially and Tuomas proved his point there. But when Floor was asked to join NW as sort of an emergency fill in, I thought this was a match made in music heaven! If I could only turn back time and be an audience member at Wacken 2013. One of the biggest regrets in my life that I missed that concert! I'm so happy for her and her little family that she's cancer free now - not as a music fan, but as a compassionate fellow human being...💛💛💛
Just chiming in to remind everyone that Walking in the Air is a cover from a very cool 1982 UK animated film. I heard the Nightwish version first and then when I saw that animated short film I couldn't help but scream "HEY, A NIGHTWISH SONG!"

Her ability to jump around on high heels was simply impressive. They used the famous Iron Maiden guitar riff to end Wishmaster on this concert instead of how the song normally ends. I never learned what was specific reason for that change. Power metalness of Wishmaster sound was big source of creative differences between Tuomas and Sami. In general this was very successful song, but Tuomas was actively disappointed in how much the audience loved it. I've discovered Nightwish when Wishmaster entered Viva hard rock charts in Germany. Music video of the Gary Moore cover "Over the Hills and Far Away" made me into a permanent fan of their music.
It was heartbreaking to see Tarja in tears after she was fired from Nightwish. But so cool to see her and Marko rekindle their friendship in December of 2017. She and Tuomas also rekindled their friendship, last year, when Tuomas' father died.
That's good to hear. Tarja and Floor have been friends since before Floor joined Nightwish, this bodes well that we might at some point in the future hear a duet with Floor and Tarja.
Tarja is amazing, Floor too, so we all have to thank Nightwish for having great female singers. and I like some songs with Aneete. She's great in the studio! I continue to appreciate your beautiful journey through Nightwish.
Good start to exploring the Tarja era. Well handled. Tarja did tell Tuomas she would be leaving after next album and tour, but the band actually kicked her out of the band ahead of that, for which Tuomas took a lot of criticism. For other songs with Tarja, you might consider Sleeping Sun, Phantom of the Opera, Wish I had an Angel, Deep Silent Complete, or The Siren. Then you should be ready to delve into the songs related to her departure. And for a good laugh, there is a misheard lyrics version of Wishmaster.
Great reaction Rosalie! I agree with your comments. I haven't listened to a lot of Tarja but I don't think Nightwish would be the same band without her contributions early on.
It just goes to show how subjective our ears are. To me Tarja's voice is undoubtedly darker, warmer and much fuller than Floor's (for a similar view, you may look at Voice Love Co's review of Tarja's Nemo). Floor sings in a classical style (to anyone who is an opera fan or opera-trained, this is not operatic, it does not have the spinning of each note, but rather straight tone with a bit of vibrato at the end sometimes) with a very light, thin, but laser focused (and sometimes constricted) voice. Tarja is very multi-faceted in her own right (her low notes are as good as her high ones), it just takes time to discover these facets across both old Nightwish and her solo career. People usually recommend Tarja in slow songs, but she is fantastic in fast songs too (e.g., her Stargazers rendition of Buenos Aires 2011) and has great stage presence. Both Tarja and Floor are great vocalists and performers in their own right. I love them both in different songs and for different reasons. However, my Nightwish is undoubtedly that of the Tarja era.

Nice reaction as usual 👍Nightwish lived three eras with three different lead singers, a comparison between the three singers in my opinion is not possible or even correct out of respect for the three women. Tuomas, as a musical genius that he is, has managed to write suitable songs for each of these singers, Tarja with an operatic voice, Anette with probably the most pop style voice of the three girls and Floor, in my opinion the most versatile of them. But they are all three very good and have marked a specific era in the history of the group. 🤟🤟🤟
Tarja in her symphonic metal songs (with Nightwish or in her solo career) only adds some opera parts (although she says she doesn't sing opera, but classically trained) because she also mixes chest voice and vocals. Conversely, she doesn't sing opera style all the time. but you can tell the difference when he sings an Aria, for example, mein herr Marquis. Furthermore, she is very versatile in her styles and in her voice in her current career. if you listen to her cover of Depeche mode "world in my eyes" (from this year), she seems like another person.
Tarja is amazing. Usually the first song everyone reacts to from her is the Phantom of the Opera cover they do in this same concert, the last concert with her. That version with Marko doing the male vocals is quite iconic. But of course their own songs with her, including some you already know from Floor singing them are also great. Simply an essential person for the band success, whichever your favourite vocalist might be. If I were to suggest a song from that era that only she can sing, that could be "The Siren", also from End of an Era show. Another one, this one much less reacted to, is Beauty of the Beast. There's a live version in Amsterdam I think, but best quality is found in the audio only studio version

It was the encore to Wishes From Eternity. December, 29, 2000. Tampere Finland. All I need to say is you don't get the full experience from an old video or 3 of course. Her power, her range. Her deep round warm chest voice and yet those full power head voice that can reach D or E whisper range in full belt. Supremacy recorded live in Woodstock Poland or Phantom of the Opera at Once upon a tour in Helsinki's Hartwell arena that last night in October 29, 2005. Singing through a head cold and a throat infection. Wow. Then to do the hard rock/metal and then ballads. her solo cover of Rsmnsteim'a Ohme such an example recorded at a festival including the venue's rented church. Her cover of Johan Strauss ( the boring one) Mein Herr Marquis. An actual opera song. But Tarja is chamber music classically trained not opera. Ask a proper opera judge to score her performance and she not score so great. But it is not for a judge other than herself and her fans. She sings it to stretch herself and the love of the song. Not speaking more than a few words of German. Litterally words you can follow along the story. I only know the story thanks to Charlie Collata an American opera singer and vocal coach who calls himself the bug brain singer. A knowledgable coach and he knows German. We are very inside baseball at this point. It was a concert with her a certain world famous drummer and an orchestra. They made beautiful music together called it Beauty and the beat. That gown she wore was a stunner in Black with white trim. 😍. Tarja you will find is unafraid to mix style, genre, influences from around the world. Even joined a bunch of Finnish hillbillies in their Seagull's nest to play a few games and record two covers together. Her playfullness is on display in her music except when the subject matter is serious and demands it. Acting, method acting in her music is very real. If she can't feel it, she can't sing it. But this kind lady knew pain in her youth and turns it into kindness. Loved by everyone who knows her. She has no stuck up diva attitude. She is talented but just loves life and as her new album , her 1st best of.is tilted, still is very much, Living The Dream"!

Tarja was special... everything Nightwish built was inspired by her vocal ability for 5 studio albums. Her stage presence was also something to behold. She truly made Nightwish stand out in the heavy metal scene in the early 2000's. Like many Nightwish fans, I was stunned when they fired her in 2005... they were on a roll w/ the 'Once' album... but even I sensed there were problems when she did not appear on their documentary DVD "End of Innocence" ... I was sad to see her go, but she's been doing her solo stuff and Nightwish now have a singer who can handle the rigors of touring and the spotlight.
Tarja was there in End of Innocence saying "The bitch is back". Besides, in the last ten years, would it even have been possible to film the same kind of footage from the tour as End of Innocence? Is the most challenging part of the touring these days rolling the dice?
While doing a bit of research on this song I discovered that Tarja had a stroke last year but was fortunate that it doesn't appear that it had any lasting effects.
The strange things happens, i know floor from the band after Forever when she was 19 year, from festival..so good, later from the band Revamp. .great range, powerfull ..bloody hell ...so good! I became fan of Nightwish with tarja, a true vocalist soprano. The singer between the Nightwish band quit of left, Nightwish asked floor to take the place and after a while floor becomes the lead singer..the band is great with floor, she belongs there.. magnificent

Tarja was the reason many of us started listening to Nightwish in early 2000s and thank you for checking her out. That combo of opera and amazing metal was incredible. I was extremelly pissed off when she was kicked out (I think it was via the letter or something like that, it was a long time ago). I will admit that I stopped listening to them when Anette started singing, or better to say that I stopped listening to their new stuff (I still listened to their original songs from Oceanborn to Tales). However, some incredible songs were created during Anette's era with Nightwish and they wouldn't have been what they are today if she didn't take part in them so I would suggest to check her live as well just for comparisson. So, even though I did not like Anette's voice (especially live) I am thankful for her impact on Nightwish. Ofc, I am one of those that rediscovered them few years after Floor joined and have been vicariously reliving them through reactors :)

What do make Nightwish speciual, beside that the genius Tuomas write the music, is thye 3 era+s of diffrent singers, all to me got their place, and it just make the NW catalog so much more.. well all members of the band got crazy talent of cause, but well to me Tuomas is the master, and also he is only member that can never be replaced.. No, she was fired, immediately after they finished the concert this video is from, they handed her a letter where they fired her, yes she had previously expressed her plans/wishes to leave the band after releasing one more album and going on one more tour, but she never announced her break from the band
All old fans of the band, including me, will never stop comparing Floor with Tarja. It's already forever) The fact is that the band got its unique sound and the love of many and eventually became famous both thanks to Tuomas's talent to write incredible lyrics and music, the musicians he gathered around him, but also... also thanks to the unique atmosphere that the band created The same atmosphere of fairy tales, poetics, gothic, symphonic and aesthetics of the spirit of ancient Europe. It was Tarja as a vocalist who created it including. Yes, she is a "narrow-voiced" vocalist. She can't sing everything like Floor. But I'm talking about the band also from the point of view of unique atmosphere, not only professional versatility. Now the music of the band is completely different, not worse, just different. The theme of fantasy and fairy tales, which were a source of inspiration for Tuomas and created the band's name and fame, is no longer there. yes, we hear Floor's operatic notes, but also many fans and the music has become more mainstream, pop. And not only Tarja is the reason for that. Marko and Yukka (ex-drummer) have already left the band. Each of them was the foundation from which everything began. Times have changed, musicians have also changed. This is normal. But the old part that gave you those unforgettable emotions will always be missing.
I'm not sure, I loved Tuomas's fantasy world at the time but he's gotten older, moved on and basically grew. Kai is quite the metronome and yes the vocals are missed with Marko so this band has moved on to a different place. I feel very privileged to hear Tuomas's evolution and he's lucky enough to be able to do what he wants regardless of opinion. Saw them twice in N. America this spring and twice at the ziggo dome last week and I still appreciate them very much. As for Tarja, well aside from the dark tone that elevated me at the time when I would see them live, Floor is just a complete singer with with fantastic diction and extreme charisma. I listen to the old songs like childhood fantasies but quickly revert to newer stuff and feel much more emotionally moved.
@@swankysweller as I said, the music has become almost as different as they are. I didn't say worse. But personally, I no longer listen to them with satisfaction as before. As for Kai, I personally don't like him at all. Compared to Jukka, who literally danced to the drums and expressed so much expression and emotion, Kai looks boring and uninteresting. The new bassist may be a good musician, but he doesn't sing like Marko and doesn't have his charisma. And Troy, who replaced Marko on vocals, does not pull out vocally. He sounds good in Auri or Iona, but not in the Nightwish as Marko. But this is only my subjective opinion.

Nowadays she has been able to develope a better chest voice and I just love it how dark her voice can be😊 When you want to dive in her solo career, good songs for example are: Until My last breath, Shadow Play, Supremacy (Muse cover, the live version from Woodstock) and Medusa ( I really like the live version from London 2016).

Ah Wishmaster. The first Nightwish song I ever heard, thanks Brian. If you want to check out more Tarja era Nightwish I would recommend the two songs that got me hooked on Nightwish "Wish I Had an Angel", & "Over the Hills & Far Away" (Gary Moore cover) there are great versions from this same End of an Era concert. If you think they look young here there is a video of them from 94, I think tarja was 16 & Tuomas 17. Plamen Dimov (Father of Nightwish) was the music teacher of all five original members. Tarja sings a couple songs and Tuomas is second chair saxophone. For post Nightwish Tarja maybe I walk Alone, 500 Letters, Victim of Ritual, Supremacy (Muse cover), or Within Temptations "Paradise"
My favorite live performance with Tarja is Phantom of the Opera. And the song Nemo is the first Nightwish song I have ever heard but I have never heard it live.

There are certain Nightwish songs that, in my opinion, "belong" to individual singers. The other singers can perform them, but they just aren't the same. This is one of those songs for Tarja. Floor can, of course, do it justice, but this is Tarja's song. (Well, whenever it's not Emppu's.)
Nightwish was always graced with brilliant, and lets be honest about it, beautiful female singers, each strong in their own way. Both Tarja and Floor are IMO equally enjoyable despite the differences in their sound, vibe, and execution.
Tarja is a good singer for sure, but I do prefer Floor. That being said, I love Tarja's version of "O Tannenbalm", which would be perfect for a reaction this time of year.

As a Brazilian and a metal lover I would love to see you reacting to the song Fairy Tale from Shaman, which is a Brazilian band. Unfortunately the vocalist Andre Matos has passed away in 2019 when he was only 47 years old. You can check the live performance so you will see the great singer he was.
The most genuine and original Era of NW ended to this very concert. Five albums done and growth from a school band to the leader of the genre in the world. Later came substitutes and replacements. Music also changed from the original NW and the style of the band. Emppu did not do so much guitar work than earlier. This is the best Wishmaster for sure. The whole concert is the second best ever.
Great intro Rosalie. As you can probably tell, Tarja uses a much more operatic vocal style most of the time. You will discover more about Tarja's unique and beautiful voice. I agree with your commentary.
Wishmaster and century child remain the best era of nightwish. I loved Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman‘s dragonlace as a teenager. There’s loads of reference too those books

Always enjoy your reactions, all 3 ladies for NW have beautiful voices, but different, Tarja's is obviously classical/operatic and beautiful, Annette's voice is more pop/bluesy/jazz which was kind of a miss match(IMHO) for NW, as she wasn't able to do some of their songs. But the songs written for her were very well written(of course...lol). You catch some of Annette's work with dark element which I have listened to and have enjoyed. And then we have Floor, again IMHO a perfect match for NW as you said she can do it all, so enjoy your journey it's a really good one

Tarja, she just has something special.... BTW the entire original band is from that same town Kitee. And when Tarja announced her resignation it came with an agreement to do 2 more albums. But she was fired immediately after the first tour for trying to have the extension of that tour cancelled after it was sold out.

I was a huge Tarja fan by the time, SPECIALLY on studio albums. She was never great live. When she was out, I believed Nightwish would be dead... then Anne came, good but too poppy... and the Floor. Floor singing live is from another world, she is just so much better, she took Nightwish to another level.

I love Tarja's voice, it has a very unique sound that I always want to come back to 🌷 her voice was warmer during the From Wishes to Eternity concert, after studying in Germany she trained to make her voice become more clearer, which you mentioned!!

Tarja is an opera singer doing metal, whereas Floor is a metal singer who can sing some opera. That's the fundamental distinction, along with the difference in vocal coloring - Tarja's is colder/darker, which I think is what you meant by "thinner". Where Tarja is unmatched, still, is her ability to sing effortless-sounding operatic at this crazy power metal pace. Floor normally chooses to bring it down a register doing these older NW songs, where she at her most effective.

Tarja is more lyrical-operatic, Floor is power/heavy metal. Floor can’t sing opera, though. She can make operatic-like sounds, but she can’t actually sing it correctly. And that’s fine, she’s not an opera singer and never claimed to be, I guess.

I watch a lot of her videos and have observed this. It's been very helpful for me to see, as a singer.
To truly appreciate Nightwish all the seasons need to be felt, from past to present. You will see themes of desperate love, sadness, grief, hope, soul awakening, imagination, the change from winter to spring, joy and happiness, gratefulness of life and wonder of the universe. The story of Nightwish hits so deep, Tuomas is a deep soul and this story that has been painted is incredibly moving. Nightwish is like a book that must be read in it´s entirety. My experience of Nightwish became so much stronger the more I knew and understood about them. It´s all connected and makes for a beautiful journey. Thanks for doing this one :D
Well said. I loved Tarja, then didn't even know Anette was in between because I stopped running in concerts. Had Army and work after that and those took all my time.
We LOVED Tarja. Nightwish was in our eyes and ears, absolute perfection.It was a crushing blow when she left the group. But she left us with an enormous catalog of great songs to continue enjoying. There shouldn't be any drama around who is fronting the band. Tarja & Annette did their best and at the end of the day it is NIGHTWISH!

This is the ultimate Tarja song. Floor had a go at it during their concerts in Japan but... no, it is and remains a true Tarja song. Just as there are true Floor songs and true Anette songs. BTW Floor and Tarja are friends: it dates back to the time when After Forever (Floor's first band) opened for NW in 2002-2005. They have appeared together on stage.
Truly. This is a song with operatic vocals for a narrow range, Floor uses classics with a wide range, which is not needed here.
I totally agree with your perception of Tarja's vs Floor's voice. To appriciate Tarja fully, I'd recommend "Walking In The Air" - she takes you on an almost ethereal journey in that masterpiece of NW.
As I stated in a comment on another NW-video: I loved NW with Tarja and couldn't come to grasps with the change to Anette - even if the albums with her as a lead singer were the most successful NW albums commercially and Tuomas proved his point there. But when Floor was asked to join NW as sort of an emergency fill in, I thought this was a match made in music heaven! If I could only turn back time and be an audience member at Wacken 2013. One of the biggest regrets in my life that I missed that concert!

Her ability to jump around on high heels was simply impressive.
They used the famous Iron Maiden guitar riff to end Wishmaster on this concert instead of how the song normally ends. I never learned what was specific reason for that change.
Power metalness of Wishmaster sound was big source of creative differences between Tuomas and Sami. In general this was very successful song, but Tuomas was actively disappointed in how much the audience loved it. I've discovered Nightwish when Wishmaster entered Viva hard rock charts in Germany. Music video of the Gary Moore cover "Over the Hills and Far Away" made me into a permanent fan of their music.
It was heartbreaking to see Tarja in tears after she was fired from Nightwish. But so cool to see her and Marko rekindle their friendship in December of 2017. She and Tuomas also rekindled their friendship, last year, when Tuomas' father died.
That's good to hear. Tarja and Floor have been friends since before Floor joined Nightwish, this bodes well that we might at some point in the future hear a duet with Floor and Tarja.

Good start to exploring the Tarja era. Well handled. Tarja did tell Tuomas she would be leaving after next album and tour, but the band actually kicked her out of the band ahead of that, for which Tuomas took a lot of criticism. For other songs with Tarja, you might consider Sleeping Sun, Phantom of the Opera, Wish I had an Angel, Deep Silent Complete, or The Siren. Then you should be ready to delve into the songs related to her departure. And for a good laugh, there is a misheard lyrics version of Wishmaster.

It just goes to show how subjective our ears are. To me Tarja's voice is undoubtedly darker, warmer and much fuller than Floor's (for a similar view, you may look at Voice Love Co's review of Tarja's Nemo). Floor sings in a classical style (to anyone who is an opera fan or opera-trained, this is not operatic, it does not have the spinning of each note, but rather straight tone with a bit of vibrato at the end sometimes) with a very light, thin, but laser focused (and sometimes constricted) voice. Tarja is very multi-faceted in her own right (her low notes are as good as her high ones), it just takes time to discover these facets across both old Nightwish and her solo career. People usually recommend Tarja in slow songs, but she is fantastic in fast songs too (e.g., her Stargazers rendition of Buenos Aires 2011) and has great stage presence. Both Tarja and Floor are great vocalists and performers in their own right. I love them both in different songs and for different reasons. However, my Nightwish is undoubtedly that of the Tarja era.

Nice reaction as usual 👍Nightwish lived three eras with three different lead singers, a comparison between the three singers in my opinion is not possible or even correct out of respect for the three women. Tuomas, as a musical genius that he is, has managed to write suitable songs for each of these singers, Tarja with an operatic voice, Anette with probably the most pop style voice of the three girls and Floor, in my opinion the most versatile of them. But they are all three very good and have marked a specific era in the history of the group. 🤟🤟🤟

Tarja in her symphonic metal songs (with Nightwish or in her solo career) only adds some opera parts (although she says she doesn't sing opera, but classically trained) because she also mixes chest voice and vocals. All I need to say is you don't get the full experience from an old video or 3 of course. Her power, her range. Her deep round warm chest voice and yet those full power head voice that can reach D or E whisper range in full belt. Supremacy recorded live in Woodstock Poland or Phantom of the Opera at Once upon a tour in Helsinki's Hartwell arena that last night in October 29, 2005. Singing through a head cold and a throat infection. Wow. Then to do the hard rock/metal and then ballads. her solo cover of Rsmnsteim'a Ohme such an example recorded at a festival including the venue's rented church. Her cover of Johan Strauss ( the boring one) Mein Herr Marquis. An actual opera song. But Tarja is chamber music classically trained not opera. Ask a proper opera judge to score her performance and she not score so great. But it is not for a judge other than herself and her fans. She sings it to stretch herself and the love of the song. Not speaking more than a few words of German. Litterally words you can follow along the story. I only know the story thanks to Charlie Collata an American opera singer and vocal coach who calls himself the bug brain singer. A knowledgable coach and he knows German. We are very inside baseball at this point. It was a concert with her a certain world famous drummer and an orchestra. They made beautiful music together called it Beauty and the beat. That gown she wore was a stunner in Black with white trim. 😍. Tarja you will find is unafraid to mix style, genre, influences from around the world. Even joined a bunch of Finnish hillbillies in their Seagull's nest to play a few games and record two covers together. Her playfullness is on display in her music except when the subject matter is serious and demands it. Acting, method acting in her music is very real. If she can't feel it, she can't sing it. But this kind lady knew pain in her youth and turns it into kindness. Loved by everyone who knows her. She has no stuck up diva attitude. She is talented but just loves life and as her new album , her 1st best of.is tilted, still is very much, Living The Dream"!

Tarja was special... everything Nightwish built was inspired by her vocal ability for 5 studio albums. Her stage presence was also something to behold. She truly made Nightwish stand out in the heavy metal scene in the early 2000's.
Like many Nightwish fans, I was stunned when they fired her in 2005... they were on a roll w/ the 'Once' album... but even I sensed there were problems when she did not appear on their documentary DVD "End of Innocence" ... I was sad to see her go, but she's been doing her solo stuff and Nightwish now have a singer who can handle the rigors of touring and the spotlight.
Tarja was there in End of Innocence saying "The bitch is back". Besides, in the last ten years, would it even have been possible to film the same kind of footage from the tour as End of Innocence? Is the most challenging part of the touring these days rolling the dice?

Tarja was the reason many of us started listening to Nightwish in early 2000s and thank you for checking her out. That combo of opera and amazing metal was incredible. I was extremelly pissed off when she was kicked out (I think it was via the letter or something like that, it was a long time ago). I will admit that I stopped listening to them when Anette started singing, or better to say that I stopped listening to their new stuff (I still listened to their original songs from Oceanborn to Tales). However, some incredible songs were created during Anette's era with Nightwish and they wouldn't have been what they are today if she didn't take part in them so I would suggest to check her live as well just for comparisson. So, even though I did not like Anette's voice (especially live) I am thankful for her impact on Nightwish. Ofc, I am one of those that rediscovered them few years after Floor joined and have been vicariously reliving them through reactors :)

What do make Nightwish speciual, beside that the genius Tuomas write the music, is thye 3 era+s of diffrent singers, all to me got their place, and it just make the NW catalog so much more.. well all members of the band got crazy talent of cause, but well to me Tuomas is the master, and also he is only member that can never be replaced..

All old fans of the band, including me, will never stop comparing Floor with Tarja. It's already forever) The fact is that the band got its unique sound and the love of many and eventually became famous both thanks to Tuomas's talent to write incredible lyrics and music, the musicians he gathered around him, but also... also thanks to the unique atmosphere that the band created The same atmosphere of fairy tales, poetics, gothic, symphonic and aesthetics of the spirit of ancient Europe. It was Tarja as a vocalist who created it including. Yes, she is a "narrow-voiced" vocalist. She can't sing everything like Floor. But I'm talking about the band also from the point of view of unique atmosphere, not only professional versatility. Now the music of the band is completely different, not worse, just different. I'm not sure, I loved Tuomas's fantasy world at the time but he's gotten older, moved on and basically grew.
Kai is quite the metronome and yes the vocals are missed with Marko so this band has moved on to a different place. I feel very privileged to hear Tuomas's evolution and he's lucky enough to be able to do what he wants regardless of opinion.
Saw them twice in N. America this spring and twice at the ziggo dome last week and I still appreciate them very much.
As for Tarja, well aside from the dark tone that elevated me at the time when I would see them live, Floor is just a complete singer with with fantastic diction and extreme charisma.
I listen to the old songs like childhood fantasies but quickly revert to newer stuff and feel much more emotionally moved.
@@swankysweller as I said, the music has become almost as different as they are. I didn't say worse. But personally, I no longer listen to them with satisfaction as before. As for Kai, I personally don't like him at all. Compared to Jukka, who literally danced to the drums and expressed so much expression and emotion, Kai looks boring and uninteresting. The new bassist may be a good musician, but he doesn't sing like Marko and doesn't have his charisma. And Troy, who replaced Marko on vocals, does not pull out vocally. He sounds good in Auri or Iona, but not in the Nightwish as Marko. But this is only my subjective opinion.

When you listen to more Tarja you will hear that she has a wonderful personality and a versatile voice. Nowadays she has been able to develope a better chest voice and I just love it how dark her voice can be😊
When you want to dive in her solo career, good songs for example are: Until My last breath, Shadow Play, Supremacy (Muse cover, the live version from Woodstock) and Medusa ( I really like the live version from London 2016).

Ah Wishmaster. The first Nightwish song I ever heard, thanks Brian. If you want to check out more Tarja era Nightwish I would recommend the two songs that got me hooked on Nightwish "Wish I Had an Angel", & "Over the Hills & Far Away" (Gary Moore cover) there are great versions from this same End of an Era concert. If you think they look young here there is a video of them from 94, I think tarja was 16 & Tuomas 17. Plamen Dimov (Father of Nightwish) was the music teacher of all five original members. Tarja sings a couple songs and Tuomas is second chair saxophone. For post Nightwish Tarja maybe I walk Alone, 500 Letters, Victim of Ritual, Supremacy (Muse cover), or Within Temptations "Paradise"
My favorite live performance with Tarja is Phantom of the Opera. And the song Nemo is the first Nightwish song I have ever heard but I have never heard it live.

They are both great, it's preferences. Tarja to me is how I picture Nightwish, dark and haunting.
There are certain Nightwish songs that, in my opinion, "belong" to individual singers. The other singers can perform them, but they just aren't the same. This is one of those songs for Tarja. Floor can, of course, do it justice, but this is Tarja's song. (Well, whenever it's not Emppu's.)

As a Brazilian and a metal lover I would love to see you reacting to the song Fairy Tale from Shaman, which is a Brazilian band. Unfortunately the vocalist Andre Matos has passed away in 2019 when he was only 47 years old. You can check the live performance so you will see the great singer he was.
I highly recommend to react Nightwish with Tarja "Walking In The Air" and "Phantom Of The Opera" duet with Marko.
The most genuine and original Era of NW ended to this very concert. Five albums done and growth from a school band to the leader of the genre in the world. Later came substitutes and replacements. Music also changed from the original NW and the style of the band. Emppu did not do so much guitar work than earlier. This is the best Wishmaster for sure. The whole concert is the second best ever.

Always enjoy your reactions, all 3 ladies for NW have beautiful voices, but different, Tarja's is obviously classical/operatic and beautiful, Annette's voice is more pop/bluesy/jazz which was kind of a miss match(IMHO) for NW, as she wasn't able to do some of their songs. But the songs written for her were very well written(of course...lol). You catch some of Annette's work with dark element which I have listened to and have enjoyed. And then we have Floor, again IMHO a perfect match for NW as you said she can do it all, so enjoy your journey it's a really good one

BTW the entire original band is from that same town Kitee. And when Tarja announced her resignation it came with an agreement to do 2 more albums. But she was fired immediately after the first tour for trying to have the extension of that tour cancelled after it was sold out.

I was a huge Tarja fan by the time, SPECIALLY on studio albums. She was never great live. When she was out, I believed Nightwish would be dead... then Anne came, good but too poppy... and the Floor. Floor singing live is from another world, she is just so much better, she took Nightwish to another level.
