Why wouldn't you just create a matte in photoshop from a still image of the video and track it to the camera movement in the video? you would save soooo much hassle of having to paint out each individual car.
Actually you have a point. Could probably do all in of it in after effects, export the one frame and re-track the texture back on. But I guess for the sake of the tutorial it’s just to show you can use tracked masks with content aware
