  • This is what you’ve all been waiting for, a full RUclips video about my backyard Air Force jet. It took everything I had to make a video longer than one minute, but nevertheless I persisted. Sorry for the unsolicited TikTok clip in the middle of it, long story. If you have any old fighter jets that you’re looking to get rid of get ahold of me and I’ll help you out! 😎
    Also, if you’d like to support the channel please consider this guide I made (link below). It’s everything I know about making short-form content and so far all the feedback I’ve been given on it has been great. There’s nothing else like it on the market, I can guarantee you that! Each guide you buy will get me about 3 gallons of jet fuel.

      This is definitely kind of the direction I’m trying to go in. Biggest thing is the ability to monetize much better with long videos. Honestly my biggest problem with it and the reason it’s taken me so long to get into is just the fact that I really don’t like spending all day editing. Short form is like 80% doing a thing and then 20% editing for me where long form feels like 20% doing and 80% editing lol. Gotta do what I gotta do though

    As a former aircraft mechanic, I'd like to say I love your enthusiasm. As you have said you plan on being far away from it when you test run it. I saw you filed the rough edges of the blades. However every little bit removed changes the weight, and the balance is very important. (which you probably know already). Just wanted to point that out. If run too long long she will probably eat herself as the speed builds. Hope to see you at least get her running. Follow your dreams! 👍

    Good luck! Starting decades ago, Cessna began doing everything in their power to prevent these aircraft from ending up in the hands of civilian operators. They had at least two primary concerns : (1) the cost of supporting such a complex and ancient aircraft for the benefit of a handful of operators would be prohibitive; and (2) providing any kind of support would subject Cessna to potential liability risk. So, I expect that, despite the large number of Tweety Birds produced, you are going to have a devil of a time finding replacement parts.

    As a jet engine mechanic for the past 50+years I find your videos fun to watch ! You just have tor remember one thing, your dealing with an engine that can let go and take everything around it with it, even yourself. A catastrophic failure even with an engine that "looks" OK can be a ticking time bomb.

  • @redbaronrefining5322
    @redbaronrefining5322 Год назад +10

    How funny! I’ve done this 3 times, but not on a cool factor like this! I’ve bought 2 APUs from 2 scrap yards for less than $200 each, and got a rolls Royce axial turbine (my first “real” jet engine) in exchange for a knife sharpener stone kit I had in my truck as I’d forgotten my wallet.
    But YOU sir win on an epic scale! To have a fuselage attached to the turbine is SO BADASS!!!! I’m jelly and anxious to see the outcome!
    Side note: Don’t run that first stage compressor, no matter how badly you want to with that condition it’s in. The ONLY way to get away with it would be an obvious tear down, and taking the blades off, having the x-rayed to verify no cracks, and then cleaning up the leading edges, and finally balancing out the whole assembly.

    So Jack did you get the engine torn down ? There is a special way to remove the compressor case from the outer combustion case….take the firewall off first and then jack screw the compressor case but make sure the bearing housing, bearing are removed from the fuel distrubutor first. Once the compressor case is off disassembly 100% can be accomplished. The compressor blades leading edges must be blended evenly and the inducer balanced other wise you will have a shaker. Is this a -25 ? If yes don’t lose any turbine case spacers otherwise your bearing and pork chop won’t line up and you will have major turbine blade rubbing ,

      that engine will NEVER be airworthy again.. any airworthy turbine engine is EXPENSIVE! especially an older engine with no longer manufactured life expired parts, no engine paperwork and logbook (no logbook = basically scrap metal). that engine was likely left in that training aircraft as it was timed out or more likely FOD damaged and not considered economical to overhaul. that damaged compressor wheel is likely to explosively fail at operating RPM due to the chunks missing out of the blades and the corrosion all over it.

At the annual condition inspection I call out or assist in the required work. I then can sign off the work items and sign off the aircraft in a condition safe for flight. There were only one or two guys I would do this with. Naturally you can do what you want with not for flight units. Stay safe.
