  • Social Security Breach 2024: Protect Yourself from the Largest Data Leak in U.S. History
In this video, we dive into the shocking data breach that has allegedly compromised the personal information of about three billion individuals.
USDoD, the hacker group behind this data breach, claimed to have accessed sensitive data including Social Security numbers (SSNs), financial details, current and past addresses, and the names of siblings and parents of 2.9 billion people from a company called National Public Data (NPD). This attack is now one of the recent most significant data thefts in history.
More About the National Public Data (NPD):
National Public Data (NPD) is located in Coral Springs, Florida. This company offers background check services for employers, investigators, and businesses seeking to verify individuals' backgrounds. According to its website, their searches cover criminal records, vital records, SSN traces, and other related information.
Even if NPD did not publicly confirm the data breach, the LA Times reported that NPD acknowledged it through email and is now investigating on the issue.
    In this video, we'll cover:
The alarming details of the 2024 Social Security breach and the hackers responsible.
Essential steps you can take to protect your Social Security Number (SSN) and other personal information from falling into the hands of hackers.
Why this SSN hack is sending shockwaves through the cybersecurity world?
As more data becomes public, this incident raises crucial questions about the safety of public data and what this breach means for your security. Whether you're concerned about identity theft or simply want to stay informed on the latest hacker news, this video is for you.
    What should you do now?
One of the first, immediate things you can do now is to freeze your credit files with the three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Freezing your credit is a free step that prevents unauthorized individuals from opening credit accounts or taking out loans in your name.
Other things you can do include updating your passwords for your bank accounts and emails and making sure to activate multi-factor authentication in these accounts. We will discuss more ways for you to protect yourself in this video.

No. Sort unique SSNs in the two files and it is not anything near 2.9 billion

The initial reports say that 2.9B numbers were affected, but it's possible that the actual number of unique SSNs compromised may be lower. Regardless, it's important to protect your personal information.

Is it just the U.S. though? Are you sure it's not happening in other countries too?

While this breach impacts mostly people in the U.S., data breaches can occur anywhere in the world.
