Ditto on that. My 8-track was always blaring Cooper, Zeppelin, the Guess Who. Cooper was hated. Had a couple songs banned, locally anyway. "Only Women Bleed," was the last one they banned. Dead Babies was not played on local AM stations. You had to hear it on FM.
But, then this is the town that forced Elvis to borrow a pair of looser pants from our local DJ, Brad Lacey and strictly told, "No Elvis Pelvis. Elvis even spoke of it on his Hawaii concert that was televised. He didn't name the town, just that it was Florida and he wasn't allowed to move anything but his little finger while on stage. lol

Man, 8 tracks. I remember building me an 8-track holder out of wood....... it was the size of a small suit case! Not to mention all those 8 tracks in the car, all over the place, then cassettes came out..... even smaller and more compact. Then CDs, smaller still. And now we just have playlists from a provider like Sirius. Technology never stands still. Seems like the only thing that never changes are the Rock-n-Roll classic songs..... like this one!

Alice Cooper is 74 and still touring extensively and putting on full theatrical Rock shows that are unmatched! He’s put out 28 studio albums and currently working on 2 more albums. He still runs daily, golfs 6 days a week and runs a Christian non-profit organization called Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock teen center and attends Church every Sunday and has his own radio show….etc. He’s the busiest man in rock & roll and the nicest man you could ever hope to meet, plus he’s been married for nearly 46 years and sober nearly 40 years and has been my favorite rocker/showman since I discovered him back in ‘87 when I was 15. A true masterpiece from Alice Cooper is the song, Halo of Flies. It’s brilliant!

Despite loving the song and it's message, i not only went to summer school, but as a member of the marching band I went to a session just before school started to prepare for marching at the up coming Riverside & Ontario 500's. We were the only high school band not from Ontario to be invited to the inaugural Ontario 500. I ended up Graduating with the most class credits in the history of the school. The Ontario track is where they had the Calif. Jam in 1974 headlined by Emerson Lake and Palmer. (ELP) There is footage of Emerson on his 'Flying piano' and more. Sadly the Ontario track had a short life and the site is now a mall. - ELP Calif Jam Karn Evil 9 1st impression pt2 and the 3rd impression & The great Gates of Kiev. Also Emerson - Piano improvisations & Lake solo with acoustic guitar doing Still... You Turn Me On & Lucky Man all from the jam.

I was in 6th grade in 1972, ready for my next phase, junior high. Our bus driver always played the radio and she made sure she had it on the station that we all liked, well on the last day of my elementary school year, the radio was playing that song. We all yelled "Turn it up!" and she did. Every year there after, that song would get played for all of the kids on their last day of school, it became like a tradition. I had to miss out listening to it, one year because there was this deal going on where at McDonald's restaurant, if you get an A on your report card, then you can have a free big mac, so I walked to McDonalds from the junior high along with a bunch of other kids, boy, does that bring back the memories! What better way than to guarantee your song gets massive airplay every year for decades. originally released in '72, has an old geezer what a great feeling seeing "youngsters" rocking out to the same songs you yourself rocked out to when you was a kid 40 - 50 years ago.

Uncle Alice had some unusual songs back in the day. That was our nickname for him back then. By the way Alice Cooper was the name of the Band originally from 1967 to 1975. The band broke up in 1975. Alice Cooper is known as the Grandfather of Shock Rock. He changed his name legally to Alice Cooper in 1975. His birth name is Vincent Furnier. Glen Buxton Lead Guitar, Dennis Dunaway Bass Guitar, Michael Bruce Rhythm Guitar, and Neal Smith Drums. Songs to check out "I'm Eighteen" #21 in Billboard top 100 in 1970. We really loved all the Brothers, but we had one who was just the absolute best, the toughest but the funniest and coolest.
Last day of my Junior year after school, I heard someone belting this song out at the top of their lungs, and around the corner came Brother Dan Casey, still in his clerics but with sun glasses on and head banging his way down the sidewalk. So stinking funny.

Hell Ya!!! I remember being in school when this came out. On the bus ride home, it came on the radio, and everyone went nuts. We tore up a bunch of notebooks shredded them and threw them out the windows. It look like snow behind the bus. What we didn't know is we almost caused 2 cars to crash in all the paper flying. The next day me and 4 other persons were suspended from riding the bus for a week. Oh and the ASS WOOPING I got from 1 to 10 was definitely a 9. My parent bringing me to school for a week took time from their jobs so they were pissed. But hey what a great song every time I here it i'll always have this memory.

Yeah, it was a well-played tune in the parking lot at the end of classes, the last day of my high school in 1978.

I left school in 77 and boy did we belt out this song at the top of our lungs as we walked out for ever.
This song was banned from radio but it only became more popular with school kids.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's, and, yes, this song was played on the boom boxes every year on the last day of school. It was great!!!

I'm Eighteen by Alice Cooper is a great bookend to Schools Out. Alice is Rock royalty to so many musicians and fans. Bob Dylan called Alice one of the most underrated song writers.

This song was released as a single in the spring of 1972, just a few months before I graduated high school.
Whenever I hear it now, I’m reminded of those days.
Thanks for the music, smiles and memories.

    Hi guys,
I was 15 back then, we did run crazy that last day, we flooded the neighborhoods and yes this song became an anthem of summer. What we never realized is the teachers were playing it also.
    Lmao

When I was an underclassman I used to intentionally get detention because there were a lot of crazy HOTT upperclassmen chicks to help me with my school work. 😆 We definitely played this song at graduation.

I think my worst nightmare as a teacher would be to be writing something on the board, and to hear student Asia's laugh behind me. I'd be like "What's this girl up to NOW?!" 🤣😉💕❤ Just kidding! I can tell you, as a child of the 70s and going to school thru the early 80s, this was our anthem, our end of year mantra. And for me personally, the last day of school/first day of summer was THE greatest day of the year. It was Christmas times 1000!

I took my son, 8 at the time, to see Alice in concert in St. Paul, Minnesota way back in about 1983. It was Cooper's "Nightmare Tour". He Loved it! Grabbed my lighter ,held the flame up and cheered with the rest of the Civic Center after songs. I let the joints go by that were being passed down the seat rows so as not to influence my son. Now he is 42 with a family and son. Ahh memories. I'm 72 and still a rockin'! Peace.
