I'm 64yrs old, and just becoming interested in semi-auto rifles for home defense, your information for beginners is Outstanding, thank you for this class! Very well done‼
Thank you for this class for free, I want to start my own side business building rifles and fixing them. I am still going take a few gunsmithing courses. Alot information in this thank you!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know why you don’t have 5 million subscribers!?!? I’ve been around guns most of my life but hadn’t gotten into the AR world until recently. This information just isn’t out there. I feel like a lot of people on you tube just run on assuming everyone knows this info. Thank you for all the detail!!
My exact sentiment. After 16yrs Army and a pew pew since I was knee-high-to-a-grasshopper... and couldn't have been more disappointed that all this info wasn't out there. It's 2023! In that spirit, we decided to do it our damn selves. So glad to hear it's helping! Thanks for the kudos. 👍 -Randy
Good vid, Randy! I was happy to see the Faxon Gunner series included in your lineup. I have the 16" Gunner .223 Wylde, and it's sweet! Shrouded by a 15" AT3 Tactical M-LOC and backed with a Geissele Super 42, it is an absolute pleasure to shoot!!! I'm sure handguards and buffer systems are coming in this series, and I'm curious to see if either of my choices make the cut!
That one is definitely on the to-do board. We have a TON of topics to hit over the next few years, but keep the requests coming! (You never know when I'll shove a new idea to the front of the list.) 👍
The only way to know if a barrel is head spaced correctly is by using good head space gauges (PTG) and knowing the proper go and field gauge..There is a difference between a 223 and 5.56 go head space gauges..The only way to know if the chamber was cut properly is with a function gauge and or with a throat gauge..I have seen many new high end barrels with poorly cut or forged chambers..Short chambers are very common..
I have rarely seen anyone firing a AR15 with accuracy in mind, It is usually a matter of emptying the magazine down short range targets as fast as possible, accuracy is never mentioned. I don't think barrel quallity is a priority.
IMO the best barrel profiles are heavy where they need to be and then taper down so it has less weight out front . Criterion Core , BA Hanson , Roscoe K9 , and SOLGW V2 are among of the best barrel profiles . Of course there are many others . I excluded HF barrel profiles because they are super expensive. Noveske or Hodge HF barrels do have awesome profiles . For price and Performance BA Hanson , Roscoe K9 and SOLGW V2 are super hard to beat unded 200ish bucks.. I personally MIDWEIGHT-ish profile barrel which a continuous taper . Best example of that is the Criterion Core . Roscoe K9 is very simlar ans half the cost . I am not a fan of Gov Profile barrels . To me they make 0 sense . For a long time i ran Colt SOCOM or Centurion MIDWEIGHT barrels . I realized i dont own a select fire nor will i ever need that HBAR barrel for general purpose usage. My onky caveat to heavy profile barrel is more precision type work where barrel harminics is a real thing . Thats when I'd want 0.850 profile that tapers down to 0.750 . Im personally not a fan of pencil barrels but i understand why they exist. The lightest I'd personally go is BA HANSON 0.625 Barrel because it does taper down and is slighly heavier than pencil barrel . I prefer 13.7" - 14.5 Mid length.. Thats my 2 cents . Definitely take with a grain of salt because im no expert . Im just a dude who loves shooting lol..
Great content great topic: So how do you know what you barrel is made out of if, it is not marked. the only stamping/writing on my barrel is 5.56 1/8. outside of that I don't know who makes my barrel or what it is made of. if you can help figure it out or at least narrow it down I would appreciate it...
Thanks! I'd say one of the first question is if your barrel is loose (not installed) or if it's currently on a functional AR. If it's on a functional AR, first thing I'd do is figure out if the barrel came OEM with your AR or if it was built by someone else. If it's OEM, it's pretty easy to find who made it with some internet searches. If it's an unknown loose barrel or otherwise, might be worth throwing a photo on some forums or chat boards to see if anyone can ID the same on their rifle. Without knowing the orgin or having distinguishing marks, it can be pretty tough to tell. There are a LOT of barrel manufacturers out there these days.
Hey randy. Does live phytoplankton really help with dynoflaglates? . I have a aero precision 18 inch barrel for my ar 15. It's a complete areo precision build. I want to re chamber it into a 762x 39 . Or should I just build another gun?
Be easiest to build a complete upper in 7.62x39 so you can just pin it on your existing lower. Of course, you'll probably have to change your buffer, too... adjusted for barrel length/gas system.
10:56 16 inch is the logest length to be considered a rifle? So 18 would be what? I get shorter is a pistol, but I always thought 16 was the SHORTEST you could legally go....
Folks like us may not be new to the platform, but there are many new Gun owners who are very unfamiliar with the “evil black gun” it’s better to educate the rookies and draw bigger support than cater to those who already know the platform, parts, cleaning, etc.
What exactly were you hoping for? If it's "been done sooo many times" how can you expect a new take? What I do see that is new to me is a long form, piece by piece, detailed look at AR parts function, choices and how they interact all laid out in a complete series.

Absolutely! Thanks for throwing your comment in here. It really means a lot and helps this "job" feel daily rewarding.
Amen brother I am getting back into it after twenty years Escaping to SC from NYS in 2005.
Hi Randy great information . Loved the chat on budget shamers
Welcome to the community brother! The AR-15 platform is a lot of fun.
Great discussion. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else stay on track and resist going down the rabbit holes!
Very high praise and great to hear! Thank you for checking us out.
You and FocusTripp are the only guntube guys I trust. Not that I watch, but trust. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Don't worry Randy will change that
Loving this series so far. Can't wait to see everything else that comes form it!
Your video was VERY Helpful for this newbie.
When choosing first AR- it's overwhelming
THANKS! Glad you liked it and it helped!
The fact that you ONLY have 76,000 subs should be illegal. Its insane. Thank you so much for your information and videos, you’re deeply appreciated!
Thanks
How many outtakes does it take to not say BRS beginner guide?
Awesome guide. I’m here trying to decide.
I KNEW I KNEW HIM FROM SOMEWHERE!

Great stuff Randy...keep em coming!
I'd like to see a discussion on barrel length & twist rate, in relation to various calibers and bullet weights. For optimum balistics.
That one is definitely on the to-do board. We have a TON of topics to hit over the next few years, but keep the requests coming! (You never know when I'll shove a new idea to the front of the list.) 👍
@@At3tactical I can't wait! Its a hot topic for heavy bullets, like .300 Blackout, and the medium & large bore AR hunters!
You guys could do an episode only on Gas block, piston systems, and both used w/ suppressors.
16 length mid gas 5.56x45 nato. 1/7 or 1/8 M-Lock handgard P-meg. Gessiele 2.4Pound triger. Megpul Stock.

Nice video. Nice product
Faaantastic presentation! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Glad you liked it! Thanks for checking us out. :)
Awesome video👍
Hey Thanks!
Also, thank you for your service‼️😁
Glad to help!
FYI 1/2-28 thread is 28 threads per inch, not total.
Great catch! Thanks for keeping us sharp.
As a machinist I approve this comment.
I always think the BCG as the hart
The barrel is the heart. you can have a great BCG but if the barrel is crap, it's going to shoot like crap.
I have rarely seen anyone firing a AR15 with accuracy in mind, It is usually a matter of emptying the magazine down short range targets as fast as possible, accuracy is never mentioned.

The fact that it is 1:8 twist means the maker had more sense than most and it's probably a barrel of better quality.
Hanson would like to be noticed
Great Info
Thanks for watching!
At the 10:30 mark, there is a reddit mounted at the 45 on what looks to be an MLOK mount. Can you provide the details on that mount?
Randy!

Wow now everyone knows which end of the barrel the bullet comes out
😂
Does barrel profile matter if you plan on using a suppressor. Specifically the HUXWRX flow through 762 ti
Barrel extension?? In the army we call it the star chamber and it's a pain in the butt to clean. The armorer always check for this spot to be clean 👌
And every time you think you finally got it clean enough.... nope, try a couple more times! HAHA!
Look up star chamber in the rifle specs and see if you find anything.
10:56 16 inch is the logest length to be considered a rifle? So 18 would be what? I get shorter is a pistol, but I always thought 16 was the SHORTEST you could legally go....
Hey. 10:50 ish "16 barrel is the longest"......probably meant to say "shortest"
Nice catch!
I’m new to this but can you change your barrel’s from 16 to 10.5 if I already have a 16 inch or will I have to build a new gun?
Great question. In today's day in age... It's not advised to go under 16" without proper paperwork. 👍
A thinner profile barrel will cool faster than a thicker one.
True, but it also heats up a lot quicker
1:32, just to clarify for a beginner, is the chamber in the extension or in the barrel? I may have misunderstood the wording there.
Chamber is in the breech of the barrel. The extension simply provides the locking lugs.
Ok I say let’s let Thomas from BRS give this a whack.
Please tell me the internal diameter of AR-15 bore barrel before rifle?
½-28 does not mean 28 threads total, it means 28 TPI or threads per inch.
Good Clarification.
Now tell me What PSA Or Diamond Rugar FN or BCM Or Deniel defense or what should i go with 1500$
With a 1500$ Budget I would probably build my own. Invest in a good barrel, BCG and trigger.
u get what u pay for. spend $90 u get 💩 u spend $$$$ and u get 🇺🇸👌⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thought the BCG was the heart of the rifle?
Aero persicien
Where's the CHF?
Good point, we will have to revisit this topic.
28 threads per inch not 28 threads in total
WYLDE ?
BILL WYLDE is the creator of the hybrid .223 WYLDE barrel. One of, if not the best, barrel out there IMO. 💯💯👍👍😁😁
28 threads per inch not 28 total threads
Theres also micro length gas tubes lol
The BCG is the heart, the barrel is the penis
🤣
Which is the vagina? 😂😂
You can buy a $400 BCG and put it behind a $100 barrel and it will still shoot like crap. If you want it to be accurate buy a good barrel.
This stuff has already been done sooo many times. Hoping Randy would’ve bring something different. Nope it’s a beginner guild to ar15.
