Stefan Marraccini James is a great Band and Tim Booth can belt them out. Also FANTASTIC "live" not every band can pull the "live" stuff off... Seems less and less "these" days or maybe it's the media trying to sell stories... anyway the whole lip syncing contra-drama trips me out.

Along with REM's "Stand", Mariah Carey "Dream lover", Dave Matthews "Satellite", Deep Blue Something's "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Candle box's "Far Behind", Blues Traveler's "Run Around" and lots of Gin Blossoms, STP, Green Day and Pearl Jam songs. Ignacio Kert I've thought about this question a lot this week. I wouldn't have done a nursing degree or have split up a couple times with my current fiancee and hurt him. but it's all hindsight. you should think about what your happy about- my mum died when I was 25 and we had such a Close relationship, especially in the coupla yrs before she died. that's what you should focus on

I can’t believe this song is 31 years old already in 2024? I totally remember it and thought it was maybe 15 to 20 years old it seems so modern hard to believe it came out just a few years after the 80’s as this song is nothing like songs from the 80’s and 90’s that seem much older.

    [Verse 1]
This bed is on fire with passionate love
The neighbours complain about the noises above
But she only comes when she's on top
    [Verse 2]
My therapist said not to see you no more
She said you're like a disease without any cure
She said I'm so obsessed that I'm becoming a bore, oh no
Ah, you think you're so pretty
    [Verse 3]
Caught your hand inside a till
Slammed your fingers in the door
Fought with kitchen knives and skewers
Dressed me up in women's clothes
    Messed around with gender roles
Line my eyes and call me pretty
    [Verse 4]
Moved out of the house, so you moved next door
I locked you out, you cut a hole in the wall
I found you sleeping next to me, I thought I was alone
You're driving me crazy, when are you coming home
    [Outro]
    Laid

Its a mind trick. This song has a simple arrangement and vibes from all eras of modern western music,(Which is a common in British Pop and alternative. All driven by an amazing vocal that deflects focus on what hes singing about, which was 10 years ahead of its time.(Breaking Taboos,Also a very British trope)
To me The intro and rhythm guitar would makes me think im about to hear Pink Houses by John Mellencamp. Then Theres a Hammond Organ and vocals thats gives it a Kinda Roy Orbison type vibe/tenor Barbershop Singer With a Lennon inspired Lyric and 50s style drumming. (Not sure about the La Bamba melody, not hearing that. ) Vocals could have been written by anyone From Cole Porter to Lady Gaga. Perfect Pop song.

I love that this is, literally just the one-take of him singing comes instead of hums or anything else, and it's not any of the other stuff they filmed, just him at the table. I love it, and I'd like to see more of this kind of stuff from bands. I've always wanted this kind of thing. '93 Jeez. I was 4 turning 5. I feel like I really didn't hear it more until late 90s early 00's.

I learned the identity of this song through hearing someone doing it at karaoke. I go to him "Hey, the American Pie song!", he was like "Huh?". I was so thrown by someone being completely in the dark about American Pie, AND someone knowing this song completely independently of that, and he clearly expected nobody to know or recognize the song. An evening of destroyed expectations, LOL!
