Becoming an IAS officer is a dream for many. Lakhs of aspirants appear for the tough UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) to become an IAS officer but only a few make the cut.
So how does life change for the ones who do make the cut?
What does a day in the life of an IAS Officer typically look like? Is there a fixed daily schedule? What are the responsibilities? How is the life of an IAS Officer in India?
Civil services bring job security, which is what is believed by a large number of people in our country. For another section of people, it is believed that civil services will bring them power and will elevate their social status. And finally, there's another section of people who want to clear this prestigious competitive exam to be able to serve the needy with basic amenities, and also to be able to increase the standard of living of all citizens of the country.
Pooja Elangbam is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from North East India. She is an officer of the 2018 batch and was able to secure 81st rank in the UPSC Civil Service Examination. The key point here is that she was able to clear the prestigious examination without any coaching based on her studies.

@Himanshu Kumar As someone from Manipur I can confirm she's one of the honest and best working officer, very humble too. An inspiration for the youth and people here respect her alot.
Although many IAS/IPS/IFS/IRS and other equivalent honest officers have done a lot for society and every profession has its own contribution, Scientists and professors at top research institutes like IISER, IISc, ISRO, DRDO, etc. deserve much more power and recognition from both the government side and societal point of view, Its high time for society to re-construct their perception of social status and role-models.
Add in the military to those professors and teachers too.
I think each n every person who is contributing themselves for well being of country deserves respect.

Because of some people's bad behaviour and mentality even if we get more than 24hours though also an IAS cannot be able to change the whole scenario. But when peoples mentality, behaviour is changed then everything is possible. So it is the duty of Indian citizens too to maintain the dignity of nation to live in a clear society where everything is in disciplined way, because an IAS is also a human and he cannot make all things clear out so try to make everything Good whatever comes in your hand like cleanliness in society, and good behaviour Among it.☺️🤗🇮🇳✌️

Huge respect but in India people still have the old mindset of worshipping jobs and positions in the government. The unwillingness of most orthodox parents to recognise the gifts and the creative abilities in their children and to nurture it is still at the minimum. Rather academic excellence seems to be the only option and is killing the youths. India is diverse and is blessed with many incredible talents/gifts which deserves equal or more recognition in many levels as long as hard work is concerned.

Who care about IAS? We are glorifying IAS too much. People think attempting UPSC is being becoming a "good-decent" man. Not eveyone is cut out for UPSC. Our society focusing too much on UPSC is making the society very judgemental and bias to other professions. Cracking UPSC is the 'success' that everyone talks about. Really? Seriously? Faak this useless glorification of some few people at the cost of many people.

Yeah all administrative jobs are dull. But they are the ones who is running the country, keeping the economy afloat and making sure everyone's safety. RUclipsrs, musicians, actors, cricketers etc(which you may consider exciting jobs) don't run the country. Heck I am pretty sure these so called "celebrities" will be first one to flee from the country in case of an emergency.
And you said mediocre?? You must be living under a rock. Do you know there is more probability of you surviving after falling from the top of a 15 story building than clearing UPSC CSE? Its a job for the most persistent people, which btw you can never grasp.

Maximum central govt servants working period is runs on irrespective of 08 hrs in day other than administrative cadre, no bounded period this is only paper, where as people think most of govt people don’t work. Because ratio of govt servants to population is very very poor
