You guys actually made my day. The last stand was the song that introduced me to metal. So it was amazing to see them battle my current favourite band. I absolutely love your videos
On the note that Sabaton "played down" for the live version of the last stand, a *lot* of bands will pitch their songs down by a semitone or maybe a tone because it makes it easier to perform live.
3:45 Well aktschually... There was 189,... 500 were the Samurai as Shiroyama. The background on the Sabaton song is cover of Last Stand album - it pictures two Spartan warriors(song Sparta, duh), a Samurai(song Shiroyama), a Winged Hussar(song is obvious here, too) and four WW2-era US soldiers(song Last Battle - however it seems to show them with incorrect unit patch - at least to me the patch seems like 1st infantry "The Bloody First", Castle Itter would have men of 12th Armoured d.)
The newest album from Powerwolf came with a associated album called "Missa Cantorem" where many different lead singer from various groups cover Powerwolf songs. All of them would make great battle of the bands material.
Sabaton are good BUT BiB are AWESOME!!! The new Single and Video "Moonlight Rendezvous" are absolutely Gorgeous! A must have in my Opinion!!!!! Sabaton 6/10 Points and BiB 9/10 with this Songs! Finally...80's Style and Metal in Mix,are Perfect!!!! Try the Songs True Believer and Die by the Blade and also Moonlight Rendezvous of curse ;-) Have fun ;-)
Between these two songs ill have to go with the sabaton one. But Beast in Black have some realy awesome songs overall. i would like a Band review form you guys on Beast in Black.
Look, I admit, I'm very preoccupied on this one. I'm swiss and therefore there is not much of a choice for me. Aside from the theme of "The Last Stand", I also think it's one of Sabatons best tracks. I was very fortunate to see them live here in Zurich in 2020 right before the pandemic hit. That being said the Beast in Black song is definitely decent. I'm not too much of a fan of their 2nd album to be honest. I prefer their first one. But I can definitely see the similiartiies. It's not only with the intro melodies, but also the chorus starts with "In the name of". Very interesting battle!
Awesome battle, I actually did NOT expect any relationship between these two bands but here it is. @Michael, how did you match the voices over the other band's instrumental track? Cool trick
Haha! Check out vocali.se - it's super easy. Just upload an mp3 and you'll get a vocals and instrumental file back. Then it's just a matter of overlaying them in an audio editor like Audacity. Cheers! -Michael
Absolutely both songs belong in exactly the same genre. I haven't heard any of these songs before that I can recall. but both have that instant likabilty thing going on. Very hard because I adore when a band gives you a historical education even So its impossible for me to seperate which one I like best. Let's say Sabaton lyrically though Beast also had great lyrics and Beast for song flow and construction even though Sabaton also crafted a very tight enjoyable song. Mmmmm? Lol can't pick : /
I think it's safe to say that the guy who wrote Heart of Steel had definately heard The last stand before. The chorus was almost a carbon copy. :) But would you really classify Sabaton as Power metal? I'm far from an expert but I can't really see that, in my mind, power metal is always a lot of fancy instrumental works, while Sabaton is more about the composition as a whole, every detail is subordinate to the overall sound. Isn't it mostly the war theme that gets them grouped into the power metal genre? I think of them as just old school heavy metal. And it's quite fun to compare that to this Beast in Black track that is pretty much 80:s hairband style metal. :)
I think so! One thing I've definitely learned through this channel is there's lots of different understandings of 'Power Metal', and there's definitely no real answer 😂 Some people take a narrow view and make it all about composition complexity - which creates a debate about some arbitrary complexity threshold. I'd take a broader view and say it's about clean vocals and melodic riffs that don't necessarily have to be complex. Ultimately the question is: is it metal that exudes power?! Sabaton ✅ -Michael
So, I expected to like the Sabaton track so much more but honestly, I think I'm going to vote for Beast in Black I just really enjoyed the overall cleaner sound and I thought that the vocals were more enjoyable.
Right on, man! 🤘 If you like Yannis' vocals check out some old Wardum or what he's done recently featuring on Warrior Path. Sinnersworld is a favorite of mine, and he does some epic screams on the Mad King. And also Beast in Black obviously. The guy's an animal - looking forward to their new album! -Michael
Or even Disco Metal? But they are great, and even more in person, I just saw them in Colorado Springs, I have their CD signed for all and a guitar pickplus a bunch of videos. Off course I was all the way at the front.
Compare the Soviet/Early Russian E.S.T. and Motorhead. ruclips.net/video/ofdVuxSwxos/видео.html ruclips.net/video/3mbvWn1EY6g/видео.html I love both. Rest in peace Lemmi and Jan Sagadeev.

I'm going to go with beast in black just because they have been in my playlist since the first album appeared, and I do love the sound. I do see the similarities, though I didn't until you guys pointed them out in this video. But then, I don't listen that much sabaton.
Finally! Beast in Black

I love Beast in Black, but the Last Stand is such a great song!!!
I noticed immediately that Heart of Steel sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it. Now I know! Both are amazing songs!
Could you guys react to HammerFall - Templars of Steel (2020 Remix)
That is a good one, to compare the old and the new version of Templars... Do you already have a preference? - Anamaria

Love Sabaton. Going for the last stand
Beast in black is definitely a band that sounds like they are from the 80s
A venetian Ducat contains about 3.5g gold
Then there we have it! 400,000 Ducats would be about $81 million dollars by today's gold prices 💸 -Michael

The Last Stand final is Postman Brat
