In my humble opinion, "Philly" Joe Jones had one of the most relaxed, swinging ride cymbal feels of all. When you listen to his playing with the Miles Davis Quintet, it is so relaxed and in the pocket. And man does it swing!

More recently I’ve focused so much on the relaxation part of my playing and it has opened new doors. My feel is so much better, I don’t overplay, and my control has been very good. It’s also allowed me to speed things up that I couldn’t before, because I’m not adding tension when there doesn’t need to be any. Great lesson/advice! Great lesson - every 5 totally great . Being relaxed is perhaps the most important thing I had to learn ( okay when you but as I got older . Maestros ; Williams , Morello & Rich the 🔥but as told by the eccentric but interesting Mr Freddy Grubber while watching Buddy play that hit me ‼️ He’s so relaxed . Btw I have to get in sync with your lessons 🙃. Working through yr jazz vocabulary 😎
