1- wanji waited 16 years but he was put in seclusion for the first 3

2- 17 years for sizhui's (yuan's) age \_(°-°)_/

i know this video is older but the first humming gave me this impression:
lan wangji sits alone in a cave, the dripping of water droplets echoing around him. he stares ahead blankly, nearly no sign of life in his once bright eyes, now turned dark and shadowed, blurred over with tears. he tightly grips the side of his wine bottle, the liquid within sloshing. the rest of the bottles he'd already drank are scattered behind and around him, forgotten. they're useless now.
just like he is. they can no longer save him from his thoughts. just like he can no longer save wei wuxian.
a tear slides down the side of his cheek. he recalls his brother standing before him in his room, where he'd been recovering. his face was grim, his hands clasped behind his back. lan wangji knew that that was never a good expression on his brother's face.
"wangji..." his brother began, avoiding his gaze. lan wangji's back stung due to the lashes still healing on his back. even still, he forced himself to sit up, since he knew his brother brought news from beyond gusu. "wei wuxian is dead "
even though lan xichen said it gently, it still felt like a burning fist had just punched him in the gut and twisted his organs. he'd lost his breath, and he'd forced his brother from his room, tears slipping from his eyes unwelcomely.
the cave air is cold and bites at his skin, but he's warm inside due to the alcohol he's been chugging, his throat and stomach burning from it. he blinks, and more tears slide free. his throat feels constricted, yet he can still hum the old, familiar tune that only he and wei wuxian had known, body shaking, hoping that the man he loved could hear him on the otherside.
