This shows that the standards and morals that Wangji set for himself are crumbling down because of Wei Wuxian. He realizes that Wuxian was the one who brought down his walls of coldness and reticence.

Honestly, after listening to all their stories, their songs, I cannot just say this is a mere romance novel anymore... the pain it conveys really does smack you hard on the head. Every character felt... alive. They weren’t just thought up on the spot. They weren’t just cannon fodder. They were actual characters with complex emotions. Okay maybe besides Wen Chao. We all hate Wen Chao.

Honestly Wangxian’s love just transcends all forms of love there is- I do believe that this is the greatest love story I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of them. The depth of their feelings cannot be matched by anything after what they’ve gone through together. All other love pales in comparison

What's so beautiful about their story is that there's no boundaries to their relationship. Not even death stops their love. Lan Zhan let go of everything to protect Wei Ying and tried to feel the pain he felt. They went through life and death together. It was literally them against the world. Even though they had no one by their side, they were with each other. And tbh Wei Ying's confession was beautiful. As much as I was taken aback, although probably not as much as Lan Zhan lmao, it was beautiful. Their love is and forever will be the purest form of love I've ever seen

Mo dao zu shi is not only potraying love between LZ and WY but also potrayed the problem within people of society. It truly is a beautiful story and I recommend all of you try reading the novel. MDZS is a masterpiece I will never get over. There's just so so many layers you peel away for the first time you read the story, and each layer reveals something unexpected. And it's a priceless experience. I heard MXTX wrote this work in 6 months and I still don't understand how she managed to create such depth with plot and characters. One day I will go for a year or two forgetting it, and return to it just to try and relive the emotions for the first time again. Edit - also want to say the song invokes the pure love perfectly between the pair. I loved even it even more at seeing "bichen" and "suibian/whatever" in the lyrics. Gods I swear I'm not crying.

This song just reminds me of how someone like lan zhan who doesn’t stray a fraction from rules would waver from his feelings for wei ying. And due to his personality, everything including his feelings to his internal thoughts are concealed from everybody else, thus silently going through all the suffering when wei ying died. “Even if the world fights against you, I’ll always be right by your side” From disobeying his elders to becoming the yiling patriarch’s accomplice, it wasn’t even an obsession, nor that he felt indebted to wei ying, he just loved him. I sometimes wonder how love can be so simple yet so intricate, but in the end all I do is cry because just imagining how happy lan zhan felt when he was convinced that wei ying had finally returned his feelings; I knew for a fact that right there and then, time had stopped. you can genuinely feel the warmth and bittersweet aspect of love in this song, purely because lan wanji wrote it for Wei wuxian. This is probably the most touching and pure story I’ve ever read, watched, and listened to its actually immaculate- gives the best cries anything could offer
When I think of Lan Zhan, the sentence "Actions speak louder than words." comes to my mind. In the past, he wanted to talk to Wei Ying to convince him to go back to Gusu and such. After Wei Ying's resurrection, when he didn't say much and showed it silently that he supported him no matter what, only then did Wei Ying understand that Lan Zhan was there for him. And the fact that he chose to support him when literally almost the whole cultivation world was against him, that has to be something even (that dense) Wei Ying could understand. If that's not pure love and devotion from Lan Zhan, I don't what is. Such beautiful story, even if I want to cry for many characters' misfortunes.

I think Mo dao zu ji is a novel that can portray the differents ways and forms of love, the brother, friendly, romantic, family and parental love, some of them tragic but never leaving the feeling just as sorrow or sadness and never giving the focus of the main characters being two males, is just the love that had and has for each other and beyond. The songs in "The untamed", donghua and CD drama talk about this, a tragic love that transcends beyond time, ( Nie brothers, Song Lan and Xiao Xinchen, etc.) a really magic message for me ✨.

I will forever think of, and love these two, WWX + LWJ. I've listened to most of the audio drama, watched season 1 anime, waiting on season two, rereading the novel, over and over, while listening to all the beautiful songs for Wangxian. This is one of my Favorites, it brings out so much, says so much and fills you up while tearing you apart. I love it. Masterpiece. The author of the novel, is so talented. I'm grateful she gave us Mo Dao Zu Shi, and Her other novel, Heaven's Official Blessing is just as good as Mo Dao Zu Shi. GDC. I love WWX AND LWJ the most but HOB main character- once a prince, that saved people, a hero, rose to immortality three times, becoming a god, but was caste down three times and suffered miserable for over a 100 years, 800 years later he ascends to the Heavens as a laughingstock and has a tragic past and a demon king that he doesn't know has been watching him for all.that time, and loves him..... The author of MDZS is killing me, softly and slowly with her art work, her words, her novels.

And he carried these feelings from Gusu to the Annihilation of the Sun and becoming the Yiling Patriarch. But Lan Zhan treated him coldly and therefore he did not even know about the volcano of Lan Zhan's passions. He CONSTANTLY thought that Wangji hated him, and therefore thought, "Perhaps Lan Zhan loves me?" they seemed insane to him, and, roughly speaking, not related to the upbringing of Gusu Lan. Why did I think so? Well, first of all: a person will not so easily accept that he likes a person of his own gender, but in the novel he took it as: “Damn, do I really love the person I hate?” That is, quite easily. Second, the song mentions Wei Ying's flute, Chen Qing. This name stands for "Former Feelings". And in the Russian translation (this comment was written through Google translator), the line where Chen Qing is mentioned is translated as: "You were my former love." They are obviously fell in love at the first sight. Wei wuxian show it through his teasing like kindergarten kid. Wangji who doesn't know what is "it" treat wei ying coldly. But he just cannot keep his damn eyes from wei ying anyway. Duh... They are so painfully in love but they just don't know yet.
I think you are right. Even after realizing his true feelings (at the near end of the novel) Wei Ying still was hesitant to confess to Lan Zhan because he thought he had hated him (since WY ignored LZ a lot when he got into demonic cultivation and LZ's temperament was always cold on the outside). It probably stems from his self-hatred because he had done many bad things (unintentionally) so he's guilty and was sure that LZ would definitely hate him. Oh gosh I still remember that bit in the audio drama where Lan Zhan went on a drunken rampage looking for Wei Ying's flute and then branding himself in the chest with the crest of the Wen clan. He didn't even have a scrap of Wei Ying left after he died. I can't even imagine the emotional pain he's been in for those 13 years.
What I like the most about this story is that the whole thing is not about their romance. It just so happened that the people who are in love are men. There is no special emphasis on that point across the story. Same things would have happened is one or both of them were women (except both being clueless. Bcs that don't happen to women ;) ) and I can just imagine Lan qiren going into a qi deviation bcs of LWJ singing about emperor's smile. Most importantly, every person had complex yet realistic characters and personalities. They all were just being selfish, greedy, naive, sad, angry and simple humans facing and going through difficult circumstances and making even difficult choices. Things could have been much better if they all sat down and talked to each other at several instances, but that never happened just like how it seldom happens in life. LWJ and WWX deserved their happy ending but so did many others throughout the story who never received their's...
This is the sweetest and best ship ever, wanji wrote a song for him, named it their names combined (ship name) [ying is oblivious until the end] AND HE LITERALLY SINGS IT TO HIM.........i cried watching the last episode of untamed as well as 'mo dao zu shi' i also cry while listening because its just so sweet and beautiful, and its just wanji professing his love to ying, its so cute 😭😭😭

MDZS is a masterpiece I will never get over. There's just so so many layers you peel away for the first time you read the story, and each layer reveals something unexpected. And it's a priceless experience. I heard MXTX wrote this work in 6 months and I still don't understand how she managed to create such depth with plot and characters. One day I will go for a year or two forgetting it, and return to it just to try and relive the emotions for the first time again.
Edit - also want to say the song invokes the pure love perfectly between the pair. I loved even it even more at seeing "bichen" and "suibian/whatever" in the lyrics. Gods I swear I'm not crying.

This song just reminds me of how someone like lan zhan who doesn’t stray a fraction from rules would waver from his feelings for wei ying. And due to his personality, everything including his feelings to his internal thoughts are concealed from everybody else, thus silently going through all the suffering when wei ying died. “Even if the world fights against you, I’ll always be right by your side” From disobeying his elders to becoming the yiling patriarch’s accomplice, it wasn’t even an obsession, nor that he felt indebted to wei ying, he just loved him. I sometimes wonder how love can be so simple yet so intricate, but in the end all I do is cry because just imagining how happy lan zhan felt when he was convinced that wei ying had finally returned his feelings; I knew for a fact that right there and then, time had stopped. you can genuinely feel the warmth and bittersweet aspect of love in this song, purely because lan wanji wrote it for Wei wuxian. This is probably the most touching and pure story I’ve ever read, watched, and listened to its actually immaculate- gives the best cries anything could offer

When I think of Lan Zhan, the sentence "Actions speak louder than words." comes to my mind. In the past, he wanted to talk to Wei Ying to convince him to go back to Gusu and such. After Wei Ying's resurrection, when he didn't say much and showed it silently that he supported him no matter what, only then did Wei Ying understand that Lan Zhan was there for him. I think Mo dao zu ji is a novel that can portray the differents ways and forms of love, the brother, friendly, romantic, family and parental love, some of them tragic but never leaving the feeling just as sorrow or sadness and never giving the focus of the main characters being two males, is just the love that had and has for each other and beyond. The songs in "The untamed", donghua and CD drama talk about this, a tragic love that transcends beyond time, ( Nie brothers, Song Lan and Xiao Xinchen, etc.) a really magic message for me ✨.

I've listened to most of the audio drama, watched season 1 anime, waiting on season two, rereading the novel, over and over, while listening to all the beautiful songs for Wangxian. This is one of my Favorites, it brings out so much, says so much and fills you up while tearing you apart. I love it. Masterpiece. The author of the novel, is so talented. I'm grateful she gave us Mo Dao Zu Shi, and Her other novel, Heaven's Official Blessing is just as good as Mo Dao Zu Shi. GDC. I love WWX AND LWJ the most but HOB main character- once a prince, that saved people, a hero, rose to immortality three times, becoming a god, but was caste down three times and suffered miserable for over a 100 years, 800 years later he ascends to the Heavens as a laughingstock and has a tragic past and a demon king that he doesn't know has been watching him for all.that time, and loves him..... The author of MDZS is killing me, softly and slowly with her art work, her words, her novels.

Guys, I have a theory. What if Wei Wuxian had a crush on Lan Wangji during his studies at Gusu. And he carried these feelings from Gusu to the Annihilation of the Sun and becoming the Yiling Patriarch. But Lan Zhan treated him coldly and therefore he did not even know about the volcano of Lan Zhan's passions. He CONSTANTLY thought that Wangji hated him, and therefore thought, "Perhaps Lan Zhan loves me?" they seemed insane to him, and, roughly speaking, not related to the upbringing of Gusu Lan. Why did I think so? Well, first of all: a person will not so easily accept that he likes a person of his own gender, but in the novel he took it as: “Damn, do I really love the person I hate?” That is, quite easily. Second, the song mentions Wei Ying's flute, Chen Qing. This name stands for "Former Feelings". And in the Russian translation (this comment was written through Google translator), the line where Chen Qing is mentioned is translated as: "You were my former love." What I like the most about this story is that the whole thing is not about their romance. It just so happened that the people who are in love are men. There is no special emphasis on that point across the story. Same things would have happened is one or both of them were women (except both being clueless. Bcs that don't happen to women ;) ) and I can just imagine Lan qiren going into a qi deviation bcs of LWJ singing about emperor's smile. Most importantly, every person had complex yet realistic characters and personalities. They all were just being selfish, greedy, naive, sad, angry and simple humans facing and going through difficult circumstances and making even difficult choices. Things could have been much better if they all sat down and talked to each other at several instances, but that never happened just like how it seldom happens in life. LWJ and WWX deserved their happy ending but so did many others throughout the story who never received their's...
This is the sweetest and best ship ever, wanji wrote a song for him, named it their names combined (ship name) [ying is oblivious until the end] AND HE LITERALLY SINGS IT TO HIM.........i cried watching the last episode of untamed as well as 'mo dao zu shi' i also cry while listening because its just so sweet and beautiful, and its just wanji professing his love to ying, its so cute 😭😭😭
