Honestly Benny & Beth needed more screen time together. The only episode that they do have a lot of screen time together would be episode six. Even so they sort of showed they dynamic between the two. Benny is there to help her out while Beth pushes him further. They both make each other succeed.
When he said, over the phone: “You’d rather be a drunk than be with me,” I realized then he’d fallen in love with her. Which is something she didn’t think he was capable of. Perhaps, if she had, things would’ve been different. Either way-these two together were magic.
Thing is... people think he's a narcissist because he's an extravert. While It's true that all narcissists are extraverts, not all extraverts are narcissists. But people subconsciously think those two traits correlate, which is sad because they only do that implicitly. I know that, because I'm an hyperextravert and people often call me arrogant and obnoxious, until they get to know me better.
But why do I like her and Townes?? :((((((( I know people have speculated that he is gay but I am so glad they ended the series with Townes and Beth together I think it was absolutely perfect.

i like to think that if and when she found her way back in the states, she’d call him again. his helping organize and pay for the phone session with all of them was a way to show he still loves her and she was excited to hear from him because she loves him back.
Benny is the only man in that show who could keep up with Beth and called her out on her behavior. They matched intellectually. I think she will end up with him in the end:) He also took really good care of her!
I mean, the others tried to call her out on her behaviour. But they didn't have the guts to stick to it and weren't equal to her in a way that allowed her to truly respect them

That phone call (where he told her off for getting drunk instead of going to NY) was when she realized Benny’s not a nice pushover like Beltic, and she can’t be selfish with Benny like she was with Beltic. Also, Beltic and Townes didn’t challenge her as much as Benny.
Beltic did challenge her flat out face to face, but Beth didn't care enough to take it to heart, but he did call her out on her addiction, albeit in a more caring manner than Benny did

the moment that i absolutely loved was when she was in moscow and it was the night before her big match against borgov and he called her up and there were like 4 other people there all figuring out a way she could win. that was the moment i went "I KNEW HE WASN'T DONE WITH HER." i genuinely screamed i was so happy

Just finished binge watching this show in like two days after starting it out of boredom and not expecting to get into it much... the characters and the relationships are so realistic, people coming in and out of each other's lives, all the people that helped her whether in big or small ways, and love that the show and characters weren't just fixated on her being a woman, there was no major sexism in the show, if you were good enough then you were good enough regardless. Benny was my favorite, definitely a narcissist, but he got her out of her head and helped her out so much and was an actual bond for her when she had no one else really. I love that this was a show about strength and independence, but I also kinda hope Beth went back to New York after haha.
Seeing Beth Harmon demolish her opponents is like that scene in the Wonder Woman movie where WW charges across no-man's land. AJT is an amazing actress.

Benny is the only one who managed to motivated her to try sobriety and really challenged her to improve her skills all the while keeping up with her. Plus she enjoyed having sex with him the most lol.
