Awesome stream! Can you guys do step-by-step instruction videos on how to play the Old World? I think that would be very helpful for completely new players like myself. Thanks!
You guys missed the point of the 1999 point game question, there are multiple X per 1000pt units/choices. Armies may play vastly differently at 1999 vs 2000.
@@robertchmielecki2580 You also used to roll 2d6 for the winds of magic. You used to roll 2d6 for charges and keep both dice. IS this a thread of things that used to be? edit, that came off way more snarky then i intended, just saying lol.
Maybe the legacy armies that aren't officially going to be part of TOW will be treated like armies were when AOS dropped. Yes, there were technically rules, but the unsupported armies quickly became obsolete as new armies and units came out. I don't know, just a speculation. Thanks for the great stream!
Question if you give ground or fall back and good order, and your opponent pursues back into combat, does this count as a new combat ? For things like hatred and once per combat rules.
Super excited to get my hands on this and start playing! Would you be able to let me know what size/scale the New models you received from GW are though? I read varying things from GW that they had intended to match the Old-Hammer scale of 28mm (top of base to eye-level) but then also read that some AoS models could also work nicely within this release of The Old World, yet these models are more 32mm
As someone who just got a crap ton of vampire count I really hope that they update what the core armies are. It just so wild to me that so many iconic ones are legacy 😊
Does the rulebook mention any recommended board size for the game? Or maybe a different size for 1k games versus 2k size? Been wondering if they went with the 60"x44" like 40k, or if they kept the 6'x4' size.
Watching the video and glad to see they actually answered that question! Board size discussion at 1:01:50 So basically: whatever size you like is good, but they recommend/suggest the 30"x44" board for small games (1k), and 6'x4' for bigger 2k and 3k games, while 60"x44" is also perfect too for 2k games.
No step up? Yikes. We are going to see powerful, fast characters and units slaughter the front ranks again. Although maybe the charge bonus will prevent so of that. Does "always strike first" still exist? Do two-handed weapons still get "always strike last" still?
I like almost eveything about this Edition, but 3 things, the pulling casualties from front was never fair, and not how combat works its 2-6 feet thats 1-3 steps, the next dude behind him would be right there to fight. Halberds were designed to be used in multiple ranks thats why they were so popular in history. Finally any rule that is not a value like Armor Piercing for example. That has a number is silly, just have another rule. be more creative than throwing a 2 on the end and having people double the rule.
So seems like all those who said Dwarves would be shit are right so far, lets see if their prediction still holds true. You can infer the strenght of a team by reading rules and not playing games. Ofc playing games will giver you even more data. But this whole position that we cant know if something is good or bad without seeing games being played is not a logical position.
Couple things... One, irrelevant for a showcase game like this, but you cannot take a Steam Tank in 1,000 points. It's 265 which is greater than 25% of the army you're allowed in rare. So when you say "people are going to do that" you aren't exactly correct. Second, and most importantly, I'm really not sure you're playing spears correctly. There's some convuluted things happening because of the wording, but I'm fairly confident if you really dig in, models in the supporting rank still get their attack of if the model in front of them is slain. The thing that should clear that up is that you don't actually remove casualities until after everything has fought. Just think it bears thorough checking.
Did you lose combat? -No: do nothing. -Yes: Roll 2 dice and compare it to your LD Did you roll more then your LD minus what you lost combat by? -No: your unit holds and the combat continues in the next fight phase -Yes: check if your unit rolled over its LD stat. Did it? -No: your unit falls back in good order -Yes: it panics and run away.
The legacy thing matters less because of the practical side of it, but more GW is Preemptively showing they dont give a crap. At which point why dont we play the fanmade versions anyways?
Like legitimately it's frustrating how blase these guys are about this topic, acting as if people being upset are somehow being bad faith or just crazy
I think they’re trying to alleviate peoples fears. The game designers clearly made the game to include all 16 factions. The legacy factions are just fine to play for those fans of those factions and that’s all they’re trying to let people know.
@Gainzworkshop I get that...but they are reading out the same script as every major youtuber is reading off of. Downplay detractors, "GW is doing great and if it fails who cares?"
@@autumnlotus6250Because it is a non-issue. I was pissed at first because I assumed my Dark Elves, Skaven, and VC would be relegated to the same hot mess that 40k Legends is. Thanks to @MountainMiniatures we know that isn't the case, we know the team put the same effort into the legacy armies as the book armies. It doesn't show GW doesn't care, the fact they put the amount of effort into the legacy lists shows they do. All legacy shows is that they had limited development time and money to invest in the initial release. It shows that GW didn't want to promise something it couldn't deliver regarding the models released and their ongoing supply issues. Plus GW wants to make sure the product does well before further investing in the line. Once shown ToW is a viable product line, GW can then make the further low cost investment of bringing legacy armies into a second wave release, likely centered around its own narrative. Likely the reason they aren't allowed in official GW tournaments is because they want their initial investment to succeed and therefore can't market for models they don't currently produce. They want the Old World to succeed, and it can only do that if people buy into the factions they can support currently. If they actively promote legacy armies that are commonly available (like dark elves and Skaven) then they are actively hurting the Old World metrics by putting those sales into AoS instead. Same reason they differentiated Horus Heresy from 10th. People are acting like they have been personally targeted by GW, or persecuted for having a certain favourite faction and that just isn't the case.

Gorbad was 600 years before the Old World (1700 vs 2300) and Grom was about 100 years after (2400)
Had a great time being on stream ! I’m glad you all had fun watching .
Stream starts 2:08
We finally get a charge move 2 hours into the stream and I still enjoyed every minute prior lol
GG
The first part of this vid felt like I was watching the home shopping network lol.
Where can i find a game mat exactly like yours? So hyped for Old World!

dude YES movement tray for AOS models. This makes everything so much easier!

For your combat result tool; Have you considered using a slider instead of pegs to tally the combat results?
Do you have tray conversions for chariots and cavalry?

Do lukas regular chaos warriors not have the chaos armor ward save?
nope
@MountainMiniatures dang they really aren't that tanky unless you take shields
Lmao. Northern waste mans killed me.
Hey, what is an anvil of doom? Haven’t seen a base size listed for it.
They have no base size, like most warmachines and the casket of sould. I would recommend giving it one to avoid chipping the paint.
Also can you identify the table terrain and who makes it?
Thanks for explaining step up. Looks like we dwarfs are gunna get screwed on that one lol
Can characters join units of a different base size? Like a lord on Daemon Mount join Chaos Knights?

I expect being able to allocate impact hits to characters will be faq'ed away. It seems like a glitch
Happy Birthday Steve!!!!

Add rank bonus to LD.

Didn't catch it, so sorry if it's been asked, but do you think we'll see huge units of 40-50 models like in 8th?
i doubt it. Tomb kings might try it, because of unbreakable. But that wont be fun to play against, i suspect it will be considered taboo to do so.
@@MountainMiniatures thanks for the answer and also thanks for all the content you put out, it's really appreciated

Dwarfs are really bad at being bad change my mind especially in this edition :)
I don't need to learn to play, I need a second job.
As a viewer, superchat is annoying as F. Just gave up watching. After 50min, almost no content of value to me.
