    I saw him perform live in the mid-80’s in Orlando. Fabulous show. Got back stage after the show and chatted with him for about 1/2 hour. He was a truly nice guy who talked to me so nicely. I was a professional musician at the time. So we talked a lot about music. He autographed one of his earliest albums I had brought me. He also gave me a cassette tape of some recordings that he had made which had never been released. On the way home I listened to the cassette in my car. Fabulous stuff! I had given him my contact info as we said goodbye. To my surprise, I received a post card from him from another city in his tour schedule. A very kind, warm-hearted handwritten note. I still have all of these things which I will cherish until the day I die. Wonderful guy! Wonderful voice! I will never forget him.

    I was in Minnesota, 13 years old,working on a farm outside Perley, the summer of 63, and Fargo-Moorhead station KUTT would play Bobby Vee endlessly. Little did I know that he was from the area. The Night has a Thousand Eyes is the first 45 I ever bought at home, in South Texas.

    Bobby Vee came to perform in Bangkok in the 80's.It was unfortunate that he had to deal with a bad promoter.I was glad to offer him friendship and consolation,but I think he had a very bad experience that he never came back to Thailand again.I just wanted him to know that he has many loyal fans n Thailand and I pray for his health.

    One of my all time favourite songs, Bobby was the most talented of the teen idols of the early 60s and has a solid place in the history of popular music. He had, and still has, a great voice and had some great song writers behind him. Wonderful to see this clip which I believe is from a British pop film 'Just for fun'. I remember seeing the film on during the summer holidays when I was a teenager in the UK in the early 1980s. My Aunt saw Bobby on a tour of his to the UK in the 1960s, and had many of his hits on 7 inch singles. Bobby toured the UK as recently as 2011. Sad to hear he has Alzheimers, but it doesn't look like this is stopping him recording, and he has a wonderful family around him who share his love and talent of music.

      This was made as a POP VIDEO - and was FEATURED in "Just For Fun" (along with a number of other great videos). Pop videos have been around since the earliest days of sound film, but their EXPOSURE has been erratic. First, they were shown in cinemas as shorts - then as "soundies" on early video jukeboxes (8mm sound film cartridges) from the late Thirties to the early Sixties - then occasionally on TV (but copyright difficulties made those airings rare) - and finally burst forth in the early Eighties as an ESSENTIAL by-product of record releases. The rest you probably know...

      @iliketowatch. 2 года назад +2

      Yes, it's catchy, but it certainly does have a weird and creepy subtext... although let's just say if "the night had a thousand eyes" back in 1962, now, 60 years later, "the night has a MILLION eyes," meaning that all semblance of privacy or secrecy is long gone. We are all under surveillance 24 hours a day. You can forget getting away with those "little white lies."

    I read a story that when Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens died, Bobby Vee got his big break by filling in for them in a concert on the day the music died. Bobby Vee your music lives on.

    Truly we will never see this time again these people had class and just a few short years we'd see Mick Jagger the rolling Stones and that idiot with the doors and the Beatles had suits at one time until they turned out to be weirdos very sad and we still haven't recovered from it people sing today and roll around on the ground they don't even sing they just make all kinds of stupid noises this generation will never ever experience what young people experienced in the 40s 50s 60s 70s and even '80s but this is about 1961 I was 6 years old

    • @RJBinghamesq

      Joe Dollinter Dunno. Back in the Eighties, I got a friend with access to a satellite channel I didn't have to record the movie this piece comes from. The perculiar stripe came WITH the recording. And I lost contact with him YEARS ago, so I cannot ask him about it. But since said stripe was not TOO intrusive, I uploaded this gem anyway.

    Tell me, doesn't he look like Anthony Denison, from Major Crimes/The Closer? Or at least like he could be Tony's slightly older brother (Bobby would be a few years older than Tony, like about seven or eight)? Look at Denison in his thirties, in the show Crime Story (as Ray Luca) and you'll see what I mean. Could he be trying any harder to look like Bobby Vee?
