  • So, I've been busy. Like, really busy. I haven't posted a video in a few months now and people have been asking "where's poochie?" Well, here he is. I took a little time away from my work-work (I've been working on a cool documentary series) to bum around with this old camera I got for like $200.
    THE COOL DOCUMENTARY SERIES:
    • Investing in Junior Mi...
Now, listen: I'm not saying that you should go out and buy this camera. It's not for everyone. In a lot of ways, you'd be better off using your phone to take pictures. However, in a lot more accurate ways, this camera rules.
28-200mm equivalent focal length? Come on. I mean, on the long end, it's f5.6 but still -- this is a really, really cool camera. I had a lot of fun with it and I was thinking I'd bring this on my next trip-trip. Like, out of province/country. It's so small and the RAW files edit really well.
Okay, so -- I edited all of these photos in Lightroom Classic. The jpgs are nice but they weren't the vibe I was going for. I made up this edit myself so don't even try asking what I did. Because then I'd have to go into Lightroom and copy those settings as a preset and that takes precious time and effort. Does anybody actually read these descriptions? If so, say "lemon lemon honeydew lemon" in the comments.
    Gear used:
    OSMO Pocket - Version 1
    Nikon Coolpix P7100
The video was edited in Davinci Resolve 18. I used some FilmConvert Nitrate for the footage which probably butchered it beyond belief with RUclips's compression. Ah well.

Thinking of getting this camera as a jpg only camera. I have a lumix ZS100 and I love using it, but the jpg’s aren’t the best and sorting/editing the raws produces amazing photos but is time consuming. Plus, I absolutely love the look

@@OrangeDuster I really like this camera for casual work. It's been a few months since I took it out because I've been so caught up in using my Fujifilm but I'll try and make another video on it -- jpg only.

Hey - really enjoyed your video… love this style of video, have this camera myself, love using it too … feels so good to hold, it so totally under the radar in a way the Fuji 100v never could be, and makes creating so much fun

I love to hear that, thank you! Yeah, I feel like it is a camera that a lot of people overlooked when it came out. Not exactly consumer, not exactly pro. It has a lot going for it. I even kept it and sold my original x100. So that's saying something.

Wow I really like this channel I’ve only watched like two videos but I’m gonna go ahead and subscribe now. I mean what are the chances I would find this channel just as I was thinking about buying a fujifilm x100v. What would you say is the biggest pro and con or your camera?

    • @aaronsambeyfilm
      @aaronsambeyfilm  Год назад

Thanks! I'd say the biggest pro(s) would be the focal range. It has an impressive zoom range. Another pro is the cost -- if you're just getting into photography but don't want to invest $2000, you're in luck. Most people are selling it for $300-400.
The cons are more obvious when you look at the age of the camera. The autofocus is slow but mostly accurate. The refresh between shots is also slow.
These are not necessarily cons if you're out learning composition and thoughtful photography.

I like to have that camera on a black and white setting so that I don't have any distractions, but then I edit the raws in color. Outside of that, try and come up with custom settings that allow you to use the camera as easily as possible. It's not the fastest camera so you want to be ready when you see the shot you want.

Guys someone help me please. I just barely bought this camera and when I try putting in a new sd card it it just says on the screen that “this sd card doesn’t work” I’ve bought three different ones. I looked online before I even bought one and it said it supported up to 128gb and that one with 200mb speed would work. It didn’t so then I bought one 128 with 140mb and still didn’t work. I ordered one on eBay for 128gb with 100mb and still the same thing. I tried smaller sd cards and they worked. Should I just get a 64gb sd card ?? It currently has a 32gb lexar old sd card and that works on it

I currently have a 64 GB card in it and it works fine. I know online it says that you might be able to use 128 GB but sometimes online is wrong. Mine works fine and I have thousands of thousands of photos on a card that size because of how low the megapixels are. Best of luck, friend.

@@aaronsambeyfilm yeah I’ll just get 64gb it just seems odd even for 2011 that a camera wouldn’t support 128gb but oh well. Thank you

I have a camera from 2011 that won't take higher than 32GB. Who knows, haha. No worries.

Read the manual which is available on line, Page 23 shows the recommended SD cards up to 64Gb which is the highest capacity SDXC recommended. You also have to format the SD card in the camera. Please remember that the P7100 dates from 2011, it is 13 years old now. You might like to try the P7800 which is a bit more recent. The P7100 though is an excellent csmera, the images are quite outstanding and to have a 7x zoom in a pocketable camera is great. 28 - 200mm (35mm equivalent). Also the camera is built like a tank!

Nikon p7100. Есть ещё Nikon p7000. Между ними разница только в том, что у первого поворотный экран и одна из крутилок спереди. На Авито тыщ за 6 можно взять.
