NOTIFICATION SQUAD: I think this is the most I've ever suffered for a video. Getting wedged in a shrine and almost killed by a horse.
Would you rather ride a horse or go in that cave? But seriously, what a crazy episode. I don't think we've ever had so many bizarre situations pop up in a single Journey Across Japan episode before! I'd also like to apologise to our beloved Dutch viewers for my pronunciation.
(ALSO apologies for the later release time this week - RUclips just WOULD NOT process the video. It drove me mad).
1st.
Hi boyyyyy
Cave
The
Horses seem like a cool option
In this episode we learn that Chris has a deep-seated fear of, well... living beings
He and I are in the same boat, which is terrifying because he's a living being.
I read that in your voice Hamish 😁
But do you blame him
To be fair to Chris, that centipede looks like it's out of an Alien movie
I read this is chris’ voice
So how would you describe Journey Across Japan in one sentence?
“Every time we go scary point, fucking hell” 😂 I love it
"Always fucking place"
"Why me?" - Natsuki
”Justice delicious”
ruclips.net/video/LVBQ-fo5Aeg/видео.html
their definition of "scary" is pretty wide-ranging.
"Journey accross Japan. Always Fucking Place. WHY ME."
That alone earned a like XD

Chris can't fit through the gate because of his _Broad_ shoulders...
Badum tss

I had to come too far down to find this. Sure it’s an easy joke, but people love broad comedy.
He's broader than Broadway!
What a broad joke
Chris: "Aren't you afraid of this?"
Natsuki: "No, because cowboy"
Irrefutable logic once again from Mr Aso.
Yee Yee
Chris is no cowboy, he's chicken boy
I love his broken english. He sometimes sound like someone going insane
I'm still cracking up because of his last name. "Aso" means something akin to "asshole" in Dutch
@@theramendutchman It also means 'Dog' in my language lol
Interesting fact: when you give birth to a baby, the shoulders are the hardest to get out and when they come out, they also twist 180 degrees (just like how Chris got through the torii gate the second time)
What else would you give birth to? A full grown human? 😝
I guess it's the same strategy. It should come naturally then. I guess. The competition that was the best.
Yes, head first though!
I was thinking the same; the passage through the gate has a resemblance to babies passing through the birth canal 😂
"its actually quite cheap, only a hundret dollars per person"
alright joey the rich anime man :DDD
Last time I went riding, we felt ripped off for having spent €40 (~$40)/person for an hour of riding. In the UK I used to spend £5-£15 (~$10) for 1-2 hours 😅

You forgot “Because Cowboy”
Remember Chris: Horses are intelligent and empathic creatures, they can sense nervousness from a half mile away. Others can just be unbroken aye holes.
It knew he has no issue eating them and was like "fuck you!"
Kind of weird that they put a complete amateur on a 6 year old. I could probably sense the fear and then tried to do whatever it wanted.
Completely agree, but would point out that the horse didn't seem unbroken - I assume what they meant when they said 'untrained' was 'untrained to carry novices on trail rides' (and to a secondary degree, untrained to carry riders who are pulling on the reins way too f* hard). My early riding classes were actually taken on an older pony like this - lovely and placid on the lunge at fair rides etc, but mishandle her reins a little too often and you would immediately discover why her name was "Dancer"😂.
Having said that, it's still a huge safety risk to put a novice on a horse with that much attitude. Hopefully the owners have learnt their lesson from this!
@@Fallenangel_85 It's not necessarily the age that matters that much but the training and their personality. I know two 5 year olds who are the sweetest horses ever and there sure also are 24 year olds that definitely can't carry beginners. Most of the time it comes from just that slight bit of unbalance or too much contact with the mouth that you see a horse that does these trails react like this and of course Chris himself being nervous doesn't help. However this horse should have never been used for these kinds of rides with the way it was behaving.
@@ChiIIi... There is some variation.
But if you plan to put lots of untrained strangers onto horses, you want those horses to be dull and docile.
I don't think it's a great experience for a younger horse at all.
There is ofc also older horses with bad character that will sense a beginner and immediately try to loose him, but that's also a bad horse for this :)

Nice guy, but his English remains poor, limited to a few words and is not accurate gramatically (it's an English speaking programme after all). Also he says the F word a lot - this gets boring! - and if he utters that or any other couple of words, why do Chris/Joey laugh their heads off as if this is great wit? I am new to your channels. I spent the last 2 days binge watching all of your videos. I have watched a lot of youtube channels and youtubers from Steven Crowder to Bret Weinstien to Abanonded etc., for many years now. You are the best that I have ever seen. ALL criticisims about and against you are total BS. You have a presence and charm that really comes across as personable, presentable, and approachable. You are a great story teller. You have great ideas and an ability to translate them in a way that inspires others to get out there and actually travel. You have a way of inviting your viewers into the travel experience in a way that acutally makes it seem like they are traveling with you. While you show many different aspects and products of Japan for informational purposes you don't heavy hand the situation by actually huckstering the products, like so many other youtubes (i.e. Crowder) do. You don't seem to rely on selling products or promoting companies to get your videos made. Your videos move along smoothly and organically which really adds to their quality. You produce excellent, high quality, videos, which are entertaining, informative and positive, all without selling out and staying true to you message and yourself. You do this with your own efforts, sweat and tears, without relying on big money sponsorship, networks or Hollywood. That is really impressive in this day age. I am going to start supporting you on Patreon. I have always wanted to travel to Japan, but was too intimidated to do so. Because of your videos I now feel that I can go. Thanks for all of your inspiration and good ideas. Don't change a thing. What you have is talent, it is genuine, and not everyone has this. Forget your haters, those who can't do criticize. As an ex-trail rider guide, that was stressful!
I don't know if I would agree with that type of bit (in the horse's mouth) when it comes to trail rides and complete beginners given the reins. That type of bit multiples the pressure because it's leveraged. So when you pull that amount back, it was applying a good amount of pressure and hence why she was backing up so quickly and twitching her head a bit. Usually just a light pull is enough to send a message. It's generally not good for beginners.
Beginners are usually put on snaffles (direct pressure) or even hackamore (nothing in the mouth, just headgear). She was also a bit "green" which is an inexperienced / novice horse. 6 years old is young for a trail horse.
Sorry you had such a horrible first experience on a horse. But your content has been great and I look forward to every video.
From what little I've worked with horses; At 16:38, it looked like Chris was pulling back on the reins a bit too much.
I might be wrong, though, I'm certainly no expert.

@@ArkeusWolf I was thinking the same thing. Rather than trying to get at the grass he was probably applying constant pressure out of his own fear and inexperience and she was trying to loosen up the pressure he was putting onto the bit. And no helmets either.

I'd like your opinion. I once got on a horse assigned by the nomads in the plains of mongolia, it kept lowering its head to eat while we were waiting to set off and the reins for it seemed particular short compared to other horses. I tried to let it eat, but if i did i would have had to completely let go of the reins, and i was afraid i wouldn't be able to get a hold again. I tried pulling harder on the reins to keep it from trying to graze, but i was afraid of hurting ny hands and also the horse. Do you think it was also a young, untrained horse like the one Chris got?

Chris about the horse: What if it just gallops off and I just fall off?
Isn’t the worse worry: What if it gallops off and you can’t get off....then it decides to go through a shaman cave with centipedes with you on it?
The horse has to fit through a tiny torii gate first though.
he's worried about that, then he sits on an inanimate horse shaped object...and falls off
@@SurgStriker that was so hilarious I fell off
“It’s not a Bengal tiger!” LOL! Watching Chris squeeze through the tori gate: priceless. Why the f*ck would they put the non-rider on the newest horse? That’s a fail. Horses are very sensitive to people’s moods, and the mare probably reflected Chris’s discomfort. Plus: mares can have quite the attitude. Best shot: drone over bridge, gorgeous view of that clear blue water. That was a “Wow,” Natsuke style.

No hard hats either! He did the right thing in getting off tbh. I had to get off a new mare once when riding across a field full of young cows I didn't know were there. I knew she'd panic and take off, if in doubt, get off!
@@feiryfella I appreciate that he respected her enough to make that decision
I think the horse was sensing his riders mood exactly. Chris wanted to eat and so did the horse. He had fried chicken on his mind and the horse had grass on its mind. Clearly kindred spirits 😊
@@feiryfella On Trash Taste Joey one of the boys mentioned that Japan doesn't really do helmets for whatever reason... (they were talking about snowboarding)
Tbh the way you were thinking of the horses was extremely sweet Chris, another amazing journey across japan epi, loved it ^^ can't wait for the next!!!
Always looking forward to your videos with Joey and Natsuki. Good chemistry , funny and spontaneous.
Why was everyone ignoring the cute sleeping doggie at the torii gates??! Nobody even said hello!!
You ever hear the saying "Let sleeping dogs lie."?
@@mikeits13 😆👍🏾
Ok, but nobody's gonna talk about how Natsuki evolved from a pirate to a cowboy???
@SoliDeoGloria 07 master of all.
I love that incredibly unfussed dog looking on at your competition at the torii. It’s a great framing device.
This is my third watching of this JAJ, they’re all so much fun, but also really beautiful.
Looking forward to the next episode. It's the one thing I look forward to each week. I hope it comes out tonight.
As much as I enjoyed the whole video, a horse casually taking a piss in front of the camera is definitely a highlight.
As someone from the Netherlands I found that a British guy, a Australian guy and a Japanese guy trying to pronounce Overijssel was one of the funniest things in this video 😅
Living in the Achterhoek thinking: hahahaha Karrma
I love how every episode it slowly transitions to become something like ghost hunters where you just find out abt a scary place and you bring your friends along to go and have a good time, always fucking place indeed Natsuki
Found this channel like 3 days ago and I think I've watched like 30 videos already, a lot of them are from like 2018 which is something I usually never watch but this time it's interesting! Quickly becoming my favorite channel, witty and informal!
As a native Dutch.
Overjizzle, is definitely not the way to pronounce it. But fuck is it funny.
voortaan noem ik overijssel overjizzle
As a dutch person as well it looks really faitfull besides wind mills right in the city

hmmm Chris's friend told him about a cave that dates back a hundreds of years.... that friend is definitely RISOTORRO.. I mean that guy is Ancient.
Risottoro helped build it.
@@system3008 Risottoro hold's the secrets as a shaman of the ancient cult
I mean the risotto is named after him
Not to nitpick, but don't most caves date back thousands of years?
