That effect with the shotgun pellets freezing in different directions was awesome
Whoever did the effects for that did a great job. That almost looked practical.
The effect of Jax's arms freezing and the blood slowly coming through the skin only to be frozen in the ice is so incredible
Sadly, no matter how great the movie's VFX is, no critic would want to admit that the movie was well written. ☹️
@@Tony_Baloney_69420 nobody could with a straight face. I enjoyed the movie for what it was, but one thing it definitely wasn't was well written.
@@Tony_Baloney_69420 The writing was incredibly lazy, especially the "arcana"-thing and that the "tournament" occours in random locations without a host.
Ok that shotgun freezing part was actually sick
Did it get well soon?
@@puppylove3781 nah it was too cold 🥶
The poor shotgun was clearly terribly sick already! I mean it was literally ill to the point of disfigurement! Poor thing almost looked like a dead ringer for a high powered, semiautomatic rifle!
Don't worry, no actual shotgun were harm in the making of this movie
sick way to disarm Jax
Jax's arms, Ben Parker and Thomas & Martha Wayne can't catch a break in any timeline.
They broke.
Didn't you see the flashpoint paradox ?
I'm pretty sure Bruce and Martha die in one version of the comics. Not that I'm a nerd or anything.....
@@warrioroflight99Bruce only, Martha became the joker and Thomas Batman, so yeah, never catch a break
Jax's arms caught a break just fine in the original timeline imo, he willingly chooses to remove them. Hell in the 2nd 90's film, they're not even replacements, he's just wearing them over his real arms and he ditches them.
Love how he froze his shoulders so it would slow down his punches.
Nice catch . Didn't even notice it .
What movie is it? Damn those cgi or im not sure if its cgi...its too damn realistic.

Bi-Han in the 2021 movie: Purely Evil Villain
Bi-han got killed by scorpion then became noob saibot
@YūGen Grey anti hero. Even when he met Scorpion in the prison after killing him he did said "but i had no choice"
he isnt a villain he is a warrior and his honour is not about do good or bad things but to do what his lord tell him or hire him to do.
Bi Han was actually a good guy and a friend of scorpion

@@PatrickJamesBeckett yep.but then to a anti hero. Same guy that killed hanzo hazashi(before he became scorpion) who also beated Scorpion but idk why the hell in nrs they have Scorpion kill bi-han. But in the midway timeline, scorpion kill bi-han with a sneak attack from behind.
Dude just lost his arms, and he’s like “Aw man, I hate it when that happens”
Im glad no one replied to explain to you how the human body works..
Yeah that’s how shock works lol
Freeze your hand to the core and break a finger you won’t feel a thing. But the panic will knock you out.
Now, he has to grow them back. That'll, take some time.
Raiden moment
I love how chill, & Humble Subzero is. Yet cold & cruel.
I see what you did there…😂
Jax: would you like to taste how cool a punch is when in the freezer?
I don't think he's humble at all. I feel like he's the opposite. He views everyone as being so far beneath him that he doesn't care at all about them. Look at the disrespect he throws at Jax as he casually pushes him off the ledge at the end. There's 0 humility there.
The six tours refers to the amount of timelines in which he lost his arms, that’s why he wasn’t scared to fight him.
Steve Harvey accepted his fate being technically handicapped
Oh nice catch
Thanks at first I was thinking he said "I'm 6' 2" mf"
Errr.. 6 tours as in 6 tours of active duty in combat zones.
@@imacrazyguy5831 exactly 😂😂
I never noticed MORE of his arm broke off down there where he landed, if you pay attention to his should blade, there’s more “arm chunks” on the ground versus when he fell off…BRUTALITY!
Nice eye. I always thought it was cement chunks
Jax: Done six tours MF
Sub Zero: Real cute
Best comment xD
subzero wouldn't even know what that means. he's from outworld.

He can't let ol' Bi Han walk 'round looking like the Blue Cheese himself. I call him Blue Cheese cuz he's dressin'.
you mean Jon jones lol
People are surprised he didn't scream or nothing, but his arms were completely frozen when they shattered and im pretty sure his body was in shock
I thought cuz his nerves are frozen so
He did 6 tours mf, you think he's gonna scream like a girl just because his arms gone?
His nerves would have been frozen, yet there would have been incredible pain at the sametime. They don't freeze people to do surgery, because freezing nerves would be incredibly painful up the chain of nerves, sending him I to shock , plus adrenaline as he was fighting for his life already, then overtime the frozen nerves woukd become an asset.
The body is a machine. When just tissue freezes , especially fast, it woukd numb the area temporarily, but this was bone ligiments and tendons that also connected further up, so he would have felt a great deal if that pain as things broke and shattered off , tye non frozen tissue woukd suffer as well. It really is a brutal scene , especially for idiots like me who study human anatomy. True he'd be spared feeling where was frozen very fast, but he'd absolutely feel directly above it, and when he called down and woke uo again, the pain would be unimaginable.
@@beentheredonethat5908not only would he be in shock due to the immense amount of pain he would be feeling, but he also literally just watched a man freeze his arms like it's nothing, So that alone probably stunned him
This might honestly be the only fight I enjoyed in this movie, it was done so damn well. Brutal as hell.
Same, the one at the beginning was good too, but the last one was ruined by cuts to Cole punching ice, and all the others were full of cuts or too short.
The constant leg sweet was pretty funny and neat
@@RastaganTheGreen cole pretty much ruined the movie tbh lol
The fight at the end was awesome! I just didn’t like how Cole had to be involved! Cole was such an unnecessary character, he didn’t need to be added to the show!

I love how Sub-Zero was like Ta-da at 1:20
Bahaha 💀
lmao,
TDK
I loved this scene because Jax is played by Mehcad Brooks, who played Jimmy Olsen in Supergirl. Jimmy is the kind of guy who would never swear and then in this scene, as Jax, he swears like a trooper.
A black guy played Jiimmy Olsen? LOl WTF is that? hahahaha
More like who tf watches super girl
He is also Billy Brooks brother from the Double Toasted podcast.
@@edengaming5021 It's not the first time a Jimmy Olsen was played by a black man. The animated adaptation of Red Son had a black Olsen too.
its Truma hes in shock
The menacing way he stares deep into Jax's eyes when freezing his arms up was disturbing. I reckon Bihan, the original Sub-Zero (in this film), was more of a brute than his brother Kuai Liang, the current Sub-Zero. I hope both appear in the next film, Bihan as Noob Saibot obviously....
I'm looking forwwd for Liu Kang vs Kung Lao
Bi han was the top assassin in the clan.
I can't wait to see him when he returns as Noob Saibot in the sequel. It's even hinted in the last fight of the film when he rips off his blue armor, revealing an all black suit underneath.
Bi-Han is indeed more brutal, reckless, and merciless than his younger brother Kuai Liang. Since Kuai Liang looks for peace and doesnt want domination, on the other hand Bi-Han wants people to know he is the real shit
@@b.b.s7545 why would they fight? They were practically brothers. Also, remember Shang Tsung took Kung Lao's soul, so he's dead.

in the new timeline it is confirmed and treated as canon that it was Ermac who took his arms
Ermac ripped his arms off
Ermac did it on the new timeline, but we dont really know how originally lost them on the og timeline.
@@enriqueramirezarriaga6450 Didn't Mortro rip his arms off at first

Clawing his arms into an opponent is pretty effective and genius, slows the body, as seen with Jax.
Sub-Zero growls like a beast in this scene
I guess he was "disarmed". 🤣
Literally.
bruh i go through the comments for these cheesy little jokes... they always make me laugh lol, didnt mean it in a rude way by saying cheesy.
Get off the stage!
no not the ocean dub dbz reference
He should've quit while he was 1:31 'ahead'
What a great scene!! Every little detail! Omg
"How many movies Jax has acted in where he loses his arms??" Survey says!
In annihilation he didnt lose his arms
Just this one
Jax: I did six tours...
Subsezro: Thank you for your service. Immediately rips off arms.
Bi han looks like his Saibot form before he was burned
1:19 can see him lower his arm to his side 😆
HAHAHAHAH
whats the joke bruh
@@Emiichoco more of a miss edit since subzero blows both arms off but can see his left arm going down to his side there.
Epic failure.
I'm a year late, but if you play it back in 0.25x speed you can see he only shatters his hand on that arm so it makes sense, he loses the rest of his arm when he hits the debris on the way down and it shatters his arm completely.
I love how gently he pushed Jax in the end.
I like how he smashes his head against the concrete ledge as he falls - that was a nice touch
When he put his hand on Jax's shoulder I though he's gonna pat it a bit like
"Ah, don't worry mate. It happens to everyone" 😆
Joe Taslim was easily the best thing about this movie. He was incredible. It's too bad we didn't get more of Hiroyuki Sanada. It might have made up for how bad almost every other actor was.
100% Joe Taslim fit the role like a king.
dont forget Kano
@@fernandomayor6382 Kano was awesome too.
At least he had some courtesy to freeze his wounds

Jax hitting that re bar on the way down was just. MMMM extra brutal.
This was the best scene for me… sun zero looked so badass
Jax: “So which timeline do I keep my arms?”
Raiden: “None.”
Dr. Strange: “Yes.”

There were a few highlights in this film such as Joe Taslim, he killed it as Bi-Han.
I also appreciate how this movie actually put emphasis on his cryomancer heritage by giving him the icy blue eyes again. That’s one aspect I miss from the recent games fr.
He disarmed him literally 😂
Bi hun: ha ha froze your arms
Jax: ha ha, people like your brother more

You can say what you want about the movie as a whole. But this scene was pretty solid
It's just like Joe from Family Guy where Joe loses his legs in every different stories.
I Love How Scorpion Was Like Ta-Da At 1:20
Ermac was how he actually lost his arms
In Mk9. This is a completely different story
This is going by the old school MK GAMES
Negative,Ed Boon says Baraka. You must not remember cartoons, him a reptile had a beef,Erma didn't come along till later,in another,Jax wanted to go mechanical to be better against Shao Khan
@@blessings1015 in the old games ge willingly replaced his arms
Love or hate this movie , you gotta admit subzero(bi han) was perfect!
freezing the gun as it shot the bullets might be the coolest scene in MK history.
As mid as the movie was, that "Oh Shi#" on Bi-Han's face when Jax comes out from behind the pillar always cracks me up.😂
Fun fact: before the MK 9 reboot his arms weren’t prosthetics they were just wearable augmentations
So why they Changed the story of Jax losing his arms by ermac then? Are they keeping it that way?
@@techfrank2431 guess so
@@Kim-by5uy
That's only the sequel to the original film. In the OG timeline, he replaces his arms willingly to fight better. With similar tech to the Cyber Lin-Kuei/Tekunin iirc.
@@Rad-Dude63andathirdHe didn't replace them. He simply plated them with metal and added bionic implants to improve power
I thought that was Steve Harvey in the thumbnail and said to myself "holy shit they really upped family feud"
Steve Harvey was phenomenal in this scene.
I love how Subzero's first 3 punches were to his gun😂
He’s like Nightwing in Batman, functioning arms optional 😂
Ahhh yes the mortal kombat acting
is still ever present lol 😂
Choreography was on point 🔥
Rick James would sing: “…that was … cold bloodeeeeeed!”😅😂
0:04 He tried to divert the directions of the gun but finally decided to put the gun straight into his face? Lmao
Yes... because he froze it to fuck with him lmao what is wrong with you people and media literacy
He was just trying to stop him from straight up firing so he could get his hands on the gun to freeze it ig
6 tours of Disneyland 😂
Ermac in the cut like "na bruh that's not lure accurate "
For a regular human he did a lot better than a mma champ would do against a fantasy super human ninja
This is not fight... this is beating
The FX in this one are far better than I was anticipating they would be, overall this was a super fun and lore accurate tale of MK!!!...
Did anyone notice Jax's boot camp move on 0:28?
Ermac: Wait wtf. Thats not me
Goro has done it to, so has Baraka, accidents and himself so he doesn't care
I would’ve rather seen subzero and scorpion more than the other characters
I know it's redundant but I'll say it anyway. Subzero is cold 🥶
Subzero made a tutorial on how to disarm your opponent.
This movie had such great potential, I still enjoyed it a lot.I hope a good studio picks up this gem and makes a good amount of movies out of it.
Imagine needing to use your ice powers against someone who is literally just throwing hands, and still struggling.
I'd try to hide the body, too.
He didn’t need to. He literally lifted jax over his head and tossed him around like a doll
Stay mad.. maybe jax should have trained more instead of looting gucci stores “for the homies”
Dude, when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was Steve Harvey 😂
This movie was so weird - it had both incredible and absolutely horrendous scenes, no in-between lol
_Ermac ripped off your arms_ -Bi Han (Ironically)
_"I survived. You didn't."_ -Jax
Must be difficult for mister Jax to lose his arms in so many ways.
Detective Shaw GOT DESTROYED
First, disarm your opponent!
In the words of Vegeta, "He's been disarmed!"
Wow.... I just realized his metal arm sound effects are in this.... And this is before the metal... lmao
i think that was from him hitting Subzero's faceplate.
Jax, "Ive done 6 tours motherfucker"
Bi Han, "Well let me introduce you to the VA"
The way subzero breathes and growls is so intimidating
And cool. No pun intended.
Something about this movie made it age well for me. Still don't think it's good or would recommend to anyone outside of fans but it appreciate it alot more than when it first came out. I find myself rewatchingvit alot and it's always a good watch.
The arm ripping is no problem for Jax, just a part of his routine at this point.
I’m just confused on how his head didn’t explode on that fall.
Kano: "God Damn It, Not Again."
Watching this movie, it's weird seeing Subzero as the heel. This movie made sure to let you know, "this subzero is evil!" I'm okay with that. Hopefully we see a little more of this when he becomes Noob Saibot
bruh watching this was like 'ow goddamn' the arm freezing was TOO realistic
At this point every character is taking their own turn removing Jax’s arms, dude can’t catch a break.
When you fall asleep on your arm at night 🤣
Guess you could say Jax was...unarmed
Bi - Han just no mercy
Despite the poor pacing and storyline we atleast got some sick fight scenes.
And some healthy ones, too
Cold as ice 🥶
That was cold as fuck lol

i feel so bad for the guy that got hims arms frozen off he was so innocent just trying to save his friend 😭
Don’t worry. He comes back with cyborg arms tougher then ever.
@@kagato23 oh ok tysm now i feel better
Once his arms got destroyed, he gave subzero a look like he just got violated
1:30 The fact that he fell and hit a concrete edge on the way down, and somehow never had any huge chest injuries like damage to his ribcage, is shocking. Dude should've lost more than just his arms, his lungs or his heart even should've suffered some damage.
Don't know how that's just gets overlooked and never addressed at all
He also got his arms frozen off by another person, don’t think they really had realism in mind.
As I’m saying fucc the arms look how hard he hit that edge made me squint like damn Ik that hurt
The bars are steal and bent like flimsy plastic
A ninja just froze his arms off with his bare hands and you're worried about the realism of him hitting concrete? 👌🏾🤣
He did 6 tours.
Ah yes, the movie where Scorpion couldn't stop taking his mask off, talking, and putting it back on.
