There servers are not stable enough for numbers below 3. Also, it takes at least 2 games to confirm you have an issue and it wasn't a random server blip. They need to bump those numbers up and have it reset each week or something.

and you know its going to happen. I play Hearthstone Battlegrounds regularly, and the amount of times my game crashes at the start of a match and then I have to restart and it's like I was never in a match in the first place is insane. Thankfully there are no bans for Battlegrounds thusfar.
Season three in overwatch 1 I got suspended due to three things happening at once. Turns out my internet cable was ripped open by a falling tree branch, the fuse box fuses were old and rusted, and there wiring was waterlogged. Talk about “it comes in threes”
Leaving penalty for unranked is kinda lame. It's the entire point that it's not a high stakes mode, so why punish people for leaving? R6 Siege doesn't give any leaver penalty for people who abandon Quick Play matches

For unranked, just make it a three minute DC penalty every single time so you can’t keep dinging over and over again unless you want to wait a few minutes every single game
Really good idea, but maybe the first is “free” and then the second game you leave gives you 5 min. If you were in game and waiting for some friends you wouldn’t be punished or have to wait to a with them, but then also it’d stop people from repeatedly leaving

I think forcing throwers to stay in games leads to the people on their team suffering in-match more than the bans for them leaving the game hurts them. I get the idea and agree with it in concept but in reality this is more my experience.
No they do not at all... even if the throwers type in chat when we are switching or whatever id rather have those and 4v5 the enemies than have 1 leave and then the remaining 3 leave immediatly after that

Should have left it at leaving 4 games gets you a penalty. Leaving 2 is such a small amount to leave and there are plenty of reasons someone would leave 2. Sometimes it actually helps when they leave

Common mistake in both camps, that they think since it makes no sense from their point of view, it cannot be any sense to it. That being said, I've played quite some QP with friends, and I can assure you it's not always gonna fill up quickly. I've played several games with 4v5 for at least half the game. The problem is the "Overwatch is a competitive game" meme. Yes, it _can_ be competitive, but it can also be very casual. Quick play is not comp and should not try to be comp.
I find this discussion interesting af! I might be bias here cause i play 90% comp 10% casual but to me you cant run a game where you let people join and leave without repercussions. QP is to casually have fun and not take the team comp and strategies too serious. Just pick what you want and try yourself out on new champs or perfect your mains. That being said, I dont see a world where its fun to play with constant unpunished leavers as soon as somebody gets rolled too hard or people that DC every second game. Its ruines the balance of a 5v5 game to always either roll because youre 5v4 or get rolled because youre 4v5. Its ok if you have to leave early sometimes. Its ok if you dc once in a while. Its ok to feel shit when you get rolled. But its NOT ok to have all of that be the problem of everybody else in a shared online experience. Also I think to punish anything from "4-5 games left" downwards is useless. Just punish the constant leavers and disconnect people HARD.. and we'll be fine.
To be honest, the nail in the coffin of why I left Overwatch 2 is that my PC sometimes crashes while playing the game. It doesn’t happen every time and sometimes I can get a a whole play session in with no issues, but it’s been happening since Overwatch 1, and even more after the change to 2. I know it’s a my PC problem, and so I elect not to play comp and risk ruining those higher stakes games by crashing. But Quick Play and Arcade hadn’t given me trouble until they slapped an arbitrary penalty to any season pass XP on my account after crashing that only got worse if I tried to rejoin and it happened again. They expected me to play 10 or 12 games in a row without this issue coming up to fix it, and so I was just permanently at this penalty with warnings of bans and stuff. So I just quit.
I have to clean install my video drivers after most OW2 patches. Never for anything else and never before season.. 4 or so. But since then it's constant. Try that.

QP bans make me less likely to play at all, it also covers arcade, so you can play whilst waiting for team, but if you leave to play ranked you get banned. Ranked bans are equally very harsh on a dc, especially when your net is stable but blizz loses you, you reconnect and can't rejoin AND a ban, happened to me once i just signed off for a few days.
2 days ago i was playing qp for fun when getting matched against a 5 stack, 3 were smurfs and the other 2 were on their one tricks. We got dogwalked at our spawn door after capping cart for 6 mins straight. I was forced to endure this as the game told me that if i left id be banned when i havent left a game in weeks. So forcing me to sut through 5-10 mins in better than just leaving and getting a backfill 20 secs later? If you actually complain about leavers in qp then you are taking it too serious. Qp isnt for you 5 stacking, smurfing on your one tricks, its for chillin, learning new characters, warming up and just having fun. Let me leave games when im playing against people who are playing qp like if they dont win theyll die
The one time i decided to purposely throw a game is because i was going to get a penalty for leaving where my whole team was getting absolutely rolled. I hadn’t left many games that day either, it just stacked the leaves i had from a different day because i didn’t get past 20 played. I was trying to test out my settings and the enemies were sweating like hell so it was just absolutely miserable for several minutes. Literally couldn’t even play the game because i would get blasted the second i tried to do anything
I think the disconnect here is that there is a matchmaking issue in QP. I see people call people sweaty in QP all the time and it's happened to me a few times but I'm not sweating if you're just sitting still and grouping up without a shield in the open versus a widow. Getting stomped doesn't necessarily mean other people are sweating, it could mean they're better at clicking the enemy team than you. It could mean they have game sounds on and basically have 5x the information you have because you're not listening to the sounds.
Because have some empathy for someone else? Like “who cares they’re gonna backfill in 20 seconds”. I think the guy you’re forcing to play your lost game is who will care. Why should they get stuck with the bad experience you want to avoid. What did they do to you?

I can't play QP anymore while waiting for friends to log on for comp, because I'll now be punished for what soooooo many of us have done regularly since the beginning of overwatch, many years ago. And now we can't even tell a teammate they need to swap or try something different, because you'll get suspended for it

My concern is when it comes to the server error making players restart a match in a different map, like will that count as a leave because my endorsement level gets lowered whenever that happen
Basically, if you leave 5 games out of the past 20 games, you get the seasonal ban. But if you get like 3 out of every 20 games you Gucci. However, if you leave so much and try to avoid that 5 leave ban by leaving rarely, and it eventually stacks up to 10 total leaves through the entire season, then the game will hit you with a seasonal ban regardless of your last 20 games.

Add a forfeit function. People in quickplay and comp are tired of people trolling and leaving and end in a 4v5 without a tank. Especially in comp where it seems if we leave before or after the timer when someone has ditched us we still get a lowered ranking. I thought it said if you leave before the timer ends there'd be no penalty. ALSO people who join midgame should NOT be punished for losing. It's like they are being sabotaged by a team that was betrayed and they have 0 morale.

Absolutely nobody gives a fuck if people leave casual games. You should NEVER, in ANY game, be punished for leaving a casual game mode. Not a fucking chance.
You should though. Take a game like league or dota for example. In those games each player is extremely core to the game throughout its entire duration, no one can swap in and replace them. look at another game like valorant, it’s not that big of a deal if someone joins or leaves in the middle of the game tbh but it still impacts people mentally
Except everyone plays QP super sweaty like it's comp now. It's very frustrating having constant leavers in the middle of the game. If you don't have time to play ONE 10 MINUTE MATCH, THEN DONT PLAY. I understand things happening, but it shouldn't be a constant problem. For example, if you have a baby and you're the only one watching it, maybe don't try to play a competitive multiplayer game. Pay attention to the fkin baby and stop being selfish. Just as an example.

I received a two week ban today. I won't be playing anymore. This was my second account. First got perma-ban. Had tons of skins etc on there since ow1. After losing that, i created my second account and vowed to never put another dollar into the game. You do not stop players from playing by banning, you stop them from putting money in. Now with this ban, i sincerely have no idea what i was banned for. I have a rank 5 endorsement and NEVER leave early. Im done.
Casual isn’t even casual anymore. People expect you to sweat like you’re In comp. You get ranked with a hidden mmr. And you get banned if you leave or get dc’d. What’s the point.
This also helps weed out some smurfs. People who "only do it to group with friends" won't have that reason anymore, because if you're fucking diamond you shouldnt be playing ranked with your bronze friend anyway, but if you're plat it's way more understandable.

I don’t think unranked should have any leave bans other than perhaps 10+. Serial offenders yes but there are a lot of reasons to leave a match. The most common for me is having to fix my internet by testing the internet speed because for someone reason my internet bugs out and drops to 200-300 ping(fiber optic, avg 70mbps) and testing internet connection takes like a minute and half

Punishing throwers who DC in qp is just gonna make quickplay worse. Its an unranked mode, it shouldnt matter. Instead of someone leaving and you getting a backfill teammate, theyll just hard throw until the game is over. And if you have bad internet? You just arent allowed to play the game at all. At least make sure theres a buffer for leaving. If you leave during overtime on a QP game, it still counts as a DC, so now you have to sit and wait for the defeat screan to pop up before you can leave. Imagine leaving a game while your entire team is dead during OT, and you get a QP ban for leaving early.
QP leaver penalty is ridiculously dumb. If someone really cares about leavers that much, go 5 stack or play comp. I wanna be able to leave a game before it starts (and probably not even impact the game) if it’s a shitty map/gamemode

Chat banning people with a 0 endorsement level is stupid. That means people can literally just spam reports and chat ban the entire game for 0 reason. That's stupid. Well, since i have some what of a potato pc, some times when im playing with friends and we enter a game theyll be in spawn(during the count down), but my screen will be under the map and doing nothing, then that annoying "if u dont exit spawn ull be kicked" thing pops up, some times i get into spawn, but by then therell be 5 seconds left, and then i get kicked out and banned on comp. Also why tf does qp have a timer, like i dont even take that sht seriously, i play qp when im lagging but still wanna play with my friends, but also dont want to lose rank.

a game like overwatch should not punish causal. matches can go for so long. not all of us can stay the entire duration. not even rocket league punishes in causal but it will start too after several occurrences. now Splatoon punishes casual leavers/dcs but thats due to the nature of the game itself and matches being only 3 minutes long. with ranked matches being 5-8 minutes long depending on the ranked modes OT timer
What if they implemented a respawn delay for a team when a player drops... So one of their players gets stuck in respawn for a minute until the next guy dies, so it stays a 4v4 until they get back?

If you crash, have a bug, anything in comp you get a ban if you leave for even a second. Even if you rejoin and carry your team to a win. You get banned. They need to stop that and make it so there is exceptions if they will make the consequences more serious.

Honestly, people barely ever leave intentionally in ranked and when they do you can just avoid them and it instantly fixes the problem. I don't really see why you would need to increase the punishments there. If it only takes one game to get avoided then nothing is lost really. Besides, those people get banned quicker for being reported than for leaving

and you know its going to happen. I play Hearthstone Battlegrounds regularly, and the amount of times my game crashes at the start of a match and then I have to restart and it's like I was never in a match in the first place is insane.

Season three in overwatch 1 I got suspended due to three things happening at once. Turns out my internet cable was ripped open by a falling tree branch, the fuse box fuses were old and rusted, and there wiring was waterlogged. Talk about “it comes in threes”
Leaving penalty for unranked is kinda lame. It's the entire point that it's not a high stakes mode, so why punish people for leaving? R6 Siege doesn't give any leaver penalty for people who abandon Quick Play matches

I think forcing throwers to stay in games leads to the people on their team suffering in-match more than the bans for them leaving the game hurts them. I get the idea and agree with it in concept but in reality this is more my experience.
It shouldn't ever be a ban to leave quick play as the person is replaced they're just trying to kill this game completely
No they do not at all... even if the throwers type in chat when we are switching or whatever id rather have those and 4v5 the enemies than have 1 leave and then the remaining 3 leave immediatly after that

I might be bias here cause i play 90% comp 10% casual but to me you cant run a game where you let people join and leave without repercussions.
QP is to casually have fun and not take the team comp and strategies too serious. Just pick what you want and try yourself out on new champs or perfect your mains. Nothing in that direction should matter or limit you.
That being said, I dont see a world where its fun to play with constant unpunished leavers as soon as somebody gets rolled too hard or people that DC every second game. Its ruines the balance of a 5v5 game to always either roll because youre 5v4 or get rolled because youre 4v5.

To be honest, the nail in the coffin of why I left Overwatch 2 is that my PC sometimes crashes while playing the game. It doesn’t happen every time and sometimes I can get a a whole play session in with no issues, but it’s been happening since Overwatch 1, and even more after the change to 2. I know it’s a my PC problem, and so I elect not to play comp and risk ruining those higher stakes games by crashing. But Quick Play and Arcade hadn’t given me trouble until they slapped an arbitrary penalty to any season pass XP on my account after crashing that only got worse if I tried to rejoin and it happened again. They expected me to play 10 or 12 games in a row without this issue coming up to fix it, and so I was just permanently at this penalty with warnings of bans and stuff. So I just quit.

QP bans make me less likely to play at all, it also covers arcade, so you can play whilst waiting for team, but if you leave to play ranked you get banned.
Ranked bans are equally very harsh on a dc, especially when your net is stable but blizz loses you, you reconnect and can't rejoin AND a ban, happened to me once i just signed off for a few days.
2 days ago i was playing qp for fun when getting matched against a 5 stack, 3 were smurfs and the other 2 were on their one tricks. We got dogwalked at our spawn door after capping cart for 6 mins straight. I was forced to endure this as the game told me that if i left id be banned when i havent left a game in weeks. So forcing me to sut through 5-10 mins in better than just leaving and getting a backfill 20 secs later? If you actually complain about leavers in qp then you are taking it too serious. Qp isnt for you 5 stacking, smurfing on your one tricks, its for chillin, learning new characters, warming up and just having fun. Let me leave games when im playing against people who are playing qp like if they dont win theyll die
The one time i decided to purposely throw a game is because i was going to get a penalty for leaving where my whole team was getting absolutely rolled. I hadn’t left many games that day either, it just stacked the leaves i had from a different day because i didn’t get past 20 played. I was trying to test out my settings and the enemies were sweating like hell so it was just absolutely miserable for several minutes. Literally couldn’t even play the game because i would get blasted the second i tried to do anything
I think the disconnect here is that there is a matchmaking issue in QP.
I see people call people sweaty in QP all the time and it's happened to me a few times but I'm not sweating if you're just sitting still and grouping up without a shield in the open versus a widow.
Getting stomped doesn't necessarily mean other people are sweating, it could mean they're better at clicking the enemy team than you. It could mean they have game sounds on and basically have 5x the information you have because you're not listening to the sounds.
Because have some empathy for someone else? Like “who cares they’re gonna backfill in 20 seconds”. I think the guy you’re forcing to play your lost game is who will care. Why should they get stuck with the bad experience you want to avoid. What did they do to you?

My concern is when it comes to the server error making players restart a match in a different map, like will that count as a leave because my endorsement level gets lowered whenever that happen
I’m a little confused on the 5 comp games and 10 comp games penalties. Aren’t they the same thing?
Basically, if you leave 5 games out of the past 20 games, you get the seasonal ban. But if you get like 3 out of every 20 games you Gucci. However, if you leave so much and try to avoid that 5 leave ban by leaving rarely, and it eventually stacks up to 10 total leaves through the entire season, then the game will hit you with a seasonal ban regardless of your last 20 games.

Add a forfeit function. People in quickplay and comp are tired of people trolling and leaving and end in a 4v5 without a tank. Especially in comp where it seems if we leave before or after the timer when someone has ditched us we still get a lowered ranking.
I thought it said if you leave before the timer ends there'd be no penalty.
ALSO people who join midgame should NOT be punished for losing. It's like they are being sabotaged by a team that was betrayed and they have 0 morale.

Absolutely nobody gives a fuck if people leave casual games. You should NEVER, in ANY game, be punished for leaving a casual game mode. Not a fucking chance.
You should though. Take a game like league or dota for example. In those games each player is extremely core to the game throughout its entire duration, no one can swap in and replace them.

I received a two week ban today. I won't be playing anymore. This was my second account. First got perma-ban. Had tons of skins etc on there since ow1. After losing that, i created my second account and vowed to never put another dollar into the game. You do not stop players from playing by banning, you stop them from putting money in. Now with this ban, i sincerely have no idea what i was banned for. I have a rank 5 endorsement and NEVER leave early. Im done.
Casual isn’t even casual anymore. People expect you to sweat like you’re In comp. You get ranked with a hidden mmr. And you get banned if you leave or get dc’d. What’s the point.
This also helps weed out some smurfs. People who "only do it to group with friends" won't have that reason anymore, because if you're fucking diamond you shouldnt be playing ranked with your bronze friend anyway, but if you're plat it's way more understandable.

I don’t think unranked should have any leave bans other than perhaps 10+. Serial offenders yes but there are a lot of reasons to leave a match. The most common for me is having to fix my internet by testing the internet speed because for someone reason my internet bugs out and drops to 200-300 ping(fiber optic, avg 70mbps) and testing internet connection takes like a minute and half

Punishing throwers who DC in qp is just gonna make quickplay worse. Its an unranked mode, it shouldnt matter. Instead of someone leaving and you getting a backfill teammate, theyll just hard throw until the game is over. And if you have bad internet? You just arent allowed to play the game at all.
At least make sure theres a buffer for leaving. If you leave during overtime on a QP game, it still counts as a DC, so now you have to sit and wait for the defeat screan to pop up before you can leave.
Imagine leaving a game while your entire team is dead during OT, and you get a QP ban for leaving early.

What if they implemented a respawn delay for a team when a player drops... So one of their players gets stuck in respawn for a minute until the next guy dies, so it stays a 4v4 until they get back?

If you crash, have a bug, anything in comp you get a ban if you leave for even a second. Even if you rejoin and carry your team to a win. You get banned. They need to stop that and make it so there is exceptions if they will make the consequences more serious.

Honestly, people barely ever leave intentionally in ranked and when they do you can just avoid them and it instantly fixes the problem. I don't really see why you would need to increase the punishments there. If it only takes one game to get avoided then nothing is lost really. Besides, those people get banned quicker for being reported than for leaving
So thanks to smurfs, rank zeros are basically TF2 free2plays but atleast the blizz dev team has it so people can unlock the ability to talk then just be forced to buy the game that’s supposed to be free

I love that they increased penalties... In plat there is literally a leaver on one of the teams every 4 or 5 games or so i had to deal with leavers on my team 3 games in a row about 2 times already...
Guys what do we do, do we make matchmaking better, nah fuck it season ban them after leaving 5 stomps.
every time i play my endorsement level goes down, it can go back up again, but it always goes down again lol. Im not leaving, playing good games, endorsing my teammates and yet it happens every single time 💀 im scared if one day it just decides to go all the way back down

I have no idea how overwatch works, but not letting players chat at whatever endorsement level 0 is is not a good idea. Just look at tf2.

You’re able to tell between a disconnect and actual leave of game. You should know this…it’s been prevalent for a long long time in many games.

If you dcd at all, dont queue again for comp, even if you do think you fixed it. You shouldnt be doin it anyway. Go test it in qp.

Dc'd the other day mid match made it back in like 2 min just in time for my team to clutch the w and still caught a 1 hour suspension. Same happened with a loss and no ban 😑
I was waiting in queue yesterday for 20 mins with my friends and we still didn’t get in a game, we were both unranked in DPS btw
