    i just received my sharper and Honda jig. What a first class product. I used the jig on both blades, but will correct the procedure on next sharping after watching this video. The lady on the phone was very helpful, she is the one who showed me the article on your web site about the Honda jig.

      Thanks, Mike! That was most likely Helen who helped you out on the phone. We're glad you are happy with your 5002 and Honda adapter! And we appreciate that you took the time to leave a nice comment.

      I live in Houston TX,, mow 12 months out of the year. Sometimes three times a week. Honda commercial HRC 216 .. My free hand sharpening skills compared to All American Sharpener are so improved. I could feel the All American Sharpen blade cut so much better on the mower compared to my free hand sharpened blade. The mower operated under lower RPM in thick grass with a All American sharpen blade installed. I could hear the motor operate at less RPM with All American Sharpen blade.
      I am retired so my yard is my ranch. 2000 sq ft ranch,

    I got the model 5005 with the Honda adapter, and all 4 pivot pins, free shipping = $235.
    I used a new Milwaukee 40 grit flap disk = $10 (approx.).
    Note that the Honda twin-blade set at Home Depot = about $28
    In 2 hours on first day I rehabilitated 5 sets of Honda blades = $140.
    I have a stack of old blades for my John Deere lawn tractor and my Ferris zero-turn. Once all of those blades are rehab-ed this jig will have more than paid for itself.
    I like that the jig makes it possible to place a near perfect cutting angle on the blade in very short order.

      All American Sharpener It’s a cool little jig...and I love jigs. It’s super well machined and it performs exactly as advertised.
      I was able to quickly put a factory quality edge on all my old Honda blade sets and couple of sets were truly chewed up .... I fixed blades that had hit rocks and had been tossed in the shed years ago.
      BTW, I’m pretty sure the original factory cutting angle on those Honda blades is 40-degrees, not 30.

      Steven R Heeter on my Honda HRR microcut blades the angle is 30 deg. I have a new set and measured it. Maybe some of the other models microcut blades are different.
      I am anxiously awaiting for my 5005 to get here. Should be tomorrow, can’t wait.

      @@stevenrheeter6005 I think my factory angle blades were 35 or 40 but set the jig on 30..hope I'm not doing wrong...seems to cut good though

    I bought a All American Sharpener a couple of years ago with the Honda adapter, this was after I had bought a Yellow Hornet sharpener that would not work what so ever on any Honda lawnmower blade. (Big waste of money) This is the easiest and best sharpener for any lawnmower blades on the market, very fast, built very well and shipped fast. Mine came with four adapters to fit most any angle grinder on the market. I have three sets of Honda blades for my mower and it a pleasure to keep them sharpened, plus the price you charged is very reasonable.

    Here is some valuable information that worked for me and may work for anyone using the All American 5005 and the following blades: HONDA HRX17: W159671(UPPER BLADE) 30deg; W159977(LOWER BLADE) 35deg with All American adapter installed.🤓

      Thanks for the feedback. We know that angle settings vary with blade geometry and wear, but it's helpful to hear specific information from our terrific customers!

    So,I have the all American Sharpener 5005 model. And I have the Honda HRN 216 model would I still use the Honda jig for this model? The reason I ask is because my blades vary a little from the ones in the video. Looking forward to using this product I’ve heard (from all the positive reviews) great things

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  2 месяца назад +1

      Based on feedback from customers with the newer HRN216 models, it's quite likely you will not need the Honda adapter for this blade configuration. If you have any additional questions, please direct them to us at support@allamericansharpener.com or call us at the number on our website. Thanks for checking in!

    i received my kit and am wondering the correct angle to set the jig to for proper sharping

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  4 месяца назад

      We've had varying feedback about the angles on the Honda blades, so you may need to do some experimentation at first. Some have said 35, and others have said 40 degrees was a better match. I will also share another link to a video section showing a little trick for determining the setting to match the blade bevel angle. People have liked this one. This video should start around the 1:14 mark.

    He states that the angle setting for the Honda blades is 30 degrees.

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  Год назад

      Angles may vary with blades, depending on design and wear. We have had feedback from customers with Honda mowers that they've needed the 35 (and sometimes the 40) degree setting to match the factory bevel. Industry standard for blades is a 30 degree angle, but the shape of the blade is the variable we adjust for when mounted in the jig.

    What degrees setting is used on the jig when sharpening the Honda blades thank you

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  Месяц назад

      We typically see a 35 or 40 degree setting needed to match the factory bevel on Honda blades. Your mileage may vary, and require a little experimenting to fine tune the angle.

    So u keep the jig in the down position for both blades? It seems like the bottom blade has a mulching angle near the inside of the blade

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  6 лет назад +3

      Even though there is a wave in the blade, the cutting edge angle does not vary much at all, the way it would on a stamped bi-level mulching blade. So, yes, we keep the jig in the 30 degree setting (down on the Model 5000). If it were adjusted to the up position, it would take more metal off the edge than we would want.

    Can I use adapter on both blades? When I put the top blade in the clamp it shakes loose without the adapter. Maybe need to adjust screws down for top blade This second time I have used your product

    • @AllAmericanSharpener
      @AllAmericanSharpener  5 лет назад

      Hi Mike. You should be able to clamp the top blade in firmly just as you see on the video. You will not want to use the adapter plate with that blade because the angle of the blade will not match the grind you need. You will want to clamp it in the vise without the adapter plate. As long as it is firmly clamped under the vise screws, it should not shake loose. If you are still having trouble, please send us an email at: support@allamericansharpener.com
