@@Holmansmowing1 Wasn't too sure if I am too sharpen lawnmower blades prior to putting them on the lawnmower. I usually put them on the lawnmower right out of the package. moving from up north to the south , I'm still learning about rural area living. Brush mowing, tractors, farming equipment. Where I come from, we have plenty of concrete sidewalks and asphalt no grass. You may laugh but the first time I move on a five acre plot of land, I mowed with an electric lawnmower. I burnt out three. I saw a guy with a riding lawnmower on his truck and asked him about it. He took me to home Depot to purchase my first lawnmower. Prior to its purchase, it took me seven days to mow the lawn. The grass grew the next week. Now it takes several hours.
I can understand where you come from, people are raised in all sorts of places, I've always been a small town country guy, but about the blades, yea I tried to show it in the video but it was hard to, brand new blades come powder coated and nearly but not quite sharp, a little touch up to get the paint off and just slightly more to get the edge you want, do not sharpen till the edge rolls to the other side, you don't want razor sharp, dulls to fast
If you are out in the woods cutting vines, briars and rocks, don't sharpen the blades first, they will last longer, however if you are cutting the grass in your yard, by all means, sharpen those new blades up before putting them on, you want the blades to cut the grass not beat it to death tearing it out of the ground
