so funny... we lived on a large ranch, with an natural sulpher spring that we got our water from... the trick.. refrigerate the water over night and it does not smell when you drink it.. or boil it... heck, we bathed in it .. it is all we had... smelled like boiled eggs.. lol
Houston is a riot!.... Great fun!... I remember when I was his age about 60 years ago in OK we used to head down to the bar ditch and catch crawdads every time it rained and ditches filled up. The real good places at the creek were beyond our parent imposed bicycle riding distance from the house... We didn't have street lights like the city kids, so our rule was 'home by sundown'... lol
I've never used those bottle traps for crawdads or bait fish, but have used them for years as fly traps, and mouse traps with some slight modifications with addition of a 'door' so mouse can't get out once they're in..
Maybe getting too technical, but the main propulsion of crawdad is backwards and they 'walk' forward searching for eats. They can't get off the bottom except swim backwards or crawl up on something.. The ramp to the bottle trap entrance is fairly steep and slick and seems that smaller crawdads would have a pretty tough time just crawling forward, uphill, on slick surface not being able to get any traction on the plastic once they leave the creek bottom to get up to the trap hole... Where a big one could push up ramp with a little tail assist, but hole is too small to get thru, where minnows could just swim in.
Maybe a bunch of small holes punched all over the ramp or piece of cloth stapled/glued to the inside of bottle neck so they can get a foothold in holes or cloth and will help them get in much easier?
Idea?... Get a bunch of different size 'bugs' and put them in a small fish tank in clear water with a baited trap. GoPro video 'em and the attempts they use trying to get to bait.

Drank sulphur water all our childhood. There were 5 kids and we are all 6 feet and over. They always said it must be the water. Lol
My husband and I went to the mall with my brother and sister in law Sept 13th 1986. Walking through he said let's walk in a jewelry store. We were looking around he ask me which ring I liked showed it to him. While I was looking around he bought the ring. I turned around he was on one knee and proposed. We got married in 1988. We were married 28 years and he passed away. I miss him very much. I really enjoy your videos. Can't stop watching. Thank you guys for sharing your family with the world. You make my day better.💕💕

We have a small town near us that in the early 1900s there was a spa there with 11 different Artesian wells. They were all tasted different and each was for a specific malady. Digestion, Liver, even beauty! 👀😂

I have literally watched all of your all’s videos. I started this summer and got hooked. After I caught up, I ran out of stuff to watch and watch ALL of the old hunting videos too haha. You have inspired me to start my channel and I’m excited.
Your daughter is funny in the background she brightens may day wheni see her funny antics in the background. Your doing good things with your kids. My cousins and I used to make our own minnow traps growing up out of what ever we could find. We didn't have very many clear plastic bottles like we do now to use when I was little. But when we were younger and go stay with our grandparents in the woods up on Lake Livingston. Our grandmother would feed us a good breakfast and kick us out the house and lock the screen door. She would tell us not to come back till dinner time and then the mischief was on. We learned how to do alot of things and making all kinds of traps, hunt and build wigwams (huts) to get out of the weather. Now days you can't get kids to go outdoors and learn how to play with nature and learn how to survive on their own if need be. To much technology now day is making people more stupid these days and don't have any idea what nature is like.

Hi Sir! Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed watching it. Except that i missed seeing your furry pets. So that's the best place to catch food for the bass in your pond! You only left the traps for an hour and yet you caught plenty of minnows. Whereas, in your creek you had to leave the traps overnight to catch just a handful. That place is really the best place to gather as much food for the bass as you need.

Emmalee is ain’t scared to try nothing. LOL!!! We have sulphur springs in my area. We have put the water in mason jars and put it in the refrigerator for about week and the smell will go away and be some of the best tasting water you ever drank.

Way to go I'll have to try out that minnow trap. When I was growing up we had that same type of artesian well spring water servicing the entire Dauphin Island. The smell was much worse than the taste, now we have water from a freshwater source down there. Thanks for the video,

One of the best nets in my experience is an “ Opera house net “ they are now illegal in Australia because people abandon them and platypus get stuck and die but I think you might be able to find them in America. They have 2 entrances and a bait bag.

When I told him I did he then said, " so does that mean you'll marry me!" lol. Sulfur water is a smell you will never forget. My grandmother had sulfur water and only when you was desperate did you drink it! 🤣🤣 thanks again for the great video!
I put a string through the mentos, drill a 1/4" hole in the lid. Pull the string through the hole in the lid put the lid on. Hold the mentos out of the soda then let the mentos drop. Small hole more lift try it.
