  • When I originally posted it, there were some technical issues with the upload so I've re-loaded it.
In this video, I share how to make faux leather earrings with a Cricut machine. It is easy to cut faux leather with a Cricut Maker and Cricut Explore Air. While you can normally cut faux leather with the normal fine tip blade, I show how to cut two types of double sided faux leather. One requires the normal fine tip blade and the other requires the deep cut blade.
I share tips and tricks for applying heat transfer vinyl to faux leather. I give some tips and things to be aware of to prevent melting the faux leather. I also share some tips for how to apply the HTV without the carrier sheet showing (indentations in the faux leather).
At the end of the meeting I also share how to assemble the faux leather earrings. DIY earrings are easy to make and make great DIY gifts. If you like DIY jewelry and are looking for a Cricut Christmas project, give this snowflake earrings diy a try.

To avoid those lines when you heat press, you can also very simply make your transfer paper the size of the entire earring rather than just the size of that snowflake. That way your lines will be off the earring on all sides. Great info. Thanks for sharing your video. Nancy

I am brand new to making earrings and learned so much from this video. We bought a different brand of vinyl cutter and have yet to learn how to use it, but do have a laser cutter that we are using to cut leather and cut basswood covered with HTV. I was so happy to see the end of the video explaining turning the eye of the fish hook because I was wondering if I was doing something wrong when I did that.

Wasn’t going to watch an hour long video but so glad I did. I learned so much, especially about the benefits of the Cricut Maker, I have a Scan n Cut and it’s not as user friendly. Highlighting the various presets makes using Cricut was very informative. Also liked your tricks about designing and assembly of your earrings, thank you and I became a new subscriber!

Your faux leather earing tutorial is very eaxy to follow and you included great tips. You had mentioned in the video that you would link your favorite HTV that has a smaller pattern that would fit nicely onto the earrings, I couldn't find that link. Thanks for sharing.

HTV....I had a suggestion when you mentioned the indentation around the faux leather, where the carrier paper makes a mark. If you cut the perimeter of the snowflake by cutting through the carrier paper, you'll end up with just the snow flake. Then you just put the snowflake down and it will not leave any marks when ironing. Or just cut the carrier sheet out larger than the tear drop and that will also work.

Oh goodie! A creator after my own heart! :) Now I am very interested in putting HTV on the FRONT of my earrings. I looked for snowflakes and found a bunch. I also received my double sided faux leather. Excited ab out those sheets, also! Thank you for the video! You are spoiling us!!! Take care!!! Blessings and Re Jouir -Darlene p.s. You have a very pleasant speaking voice, this was the first video of yours I have watched and it is awesome! I watch a ton of You Tubers and now you are on my subscription list. Things that I really appreciated were the tips-the impression of the htv carrier bugs me and that is why I found you. Loved that you showed what you were talking about as first timers wouldn't have known it was going to happen (like I did for an entire set of 35 earings...) I hated it! It wasn't very professional looking in my opinion. The snowflake cut around made sense as a hack I've also seen spacing them out prior to cutting so far so you can cut the individual piece larger than the piece it is going down on. However, you waste a lot of or some of the vinyl then. Does that make any sense? So the carrier extends beyond the leather piece you adhering to? And the pebbling thing- never saw this! Cool thing to be aware of. Love all your materials-I've only been getting generics from Hobby Lobby/Michael's/Amazon. I love your double sided. I really appreciated this video today! Thanks! Learned so so much-like the ice cube tray of precut prior to the "holiday" or "season" so you are ready!!!!

  • @eranabramovich

Well you get the lines when you press because you make them! what i mean by that is just cut the transfer tape bigger the the size if the earing so no lines of it are touching the leather that way you wont have any lines! am I wrong?

Also I am no expert but after seeing you cutting the shape of the flake from the transfer tape, why don you just run the design with a transfer on top of it that way you will have an exacted snow flake ready to press with no lines and the after pill the transfer tape!? wont that work? let me know if you try it and it works! i actually never used a circuit before, i did order one but it will take a few weeks till ill get it!
