Hey ! Thanks for the video ! One thing that got me worried is that you purchased Crucial DDR4-3200 but when you opened the task manager it says you got 32Go at 2933Mhz. On my Legion 5 I have 16Gb 3200Mhz and wouldn't want a downgrade to 2933 if I up the RAM to 32Gb using 2x16 DDR4-3200... Have you solved the issue ? or are you stuck to 2933 despite having DDR4-3200 installed ?

Your video saved me money! I almost took it somewhere but you made it look so easy so I did it myself. It was a little hard getting the back off even with the prying paddle but I did it. Removing the battery power supply was a little hard too but putting the ram in was so easy! Took me i think 15 min because I was being extremely careful since I have never done anything like this before. Thanks again!!
Wow! Interesting. I've been searching for specs info on the Legion 5 and all I found was that the max capacity was 16GB Ram, which I couldn't believe since it's considered for gaming. But you proved to me that indeed nowadays vendors don't even bother to share this information. The model I have is a Lenovo Legion 5 82B10052US but it should be the same thing since they're both Legion 5, still I wonder why the information provided is an incorrect one. But thanks to you I can be assured that I can happily upgrade my ram :) thank you!

I'm getting the Legion 5 (new) 82B5001XUS, which is a 2020 model, just for casual gaming, browsing etc. Thanks for the video. I got it for $699 which is a killer deal, imo. Because it comes with an SSD, and 1TB HDD, going to upgrade mine to just 16 gigs though. Has one 8 gig stick. I hear they last a lot longer than the competition, so I'm not worried about it being an older model.
Thanks for this, i'm typing on my newly upgraded laptop! I had the exact same upgrade as you, even down to the Crucial chips. While i had it open i took the opportunity to clean my fans with a toothbrush too. Very easy to follow, thanks again.
There's actually a setting in the BIOS (spam F1 and F2 at the startup screen) that disables the battery, if you do that you shouldn't need to disconnect it.
Thank you for the video. I've owned the 17ACH6H for a few years already, always running the basic 16GB of DDR4 (2 SOIC's) with which it came. My wife's newer Gigabyte laptop is being upgraded to 64GB, so I figured I'd max out my own Legion 5. I have a couple of comments... First, the 17" model of the Legion 5, although wider, only has 10 screws, and not 11 as did your 15" model. (Go figure.) There are 6 long ones and the same 4 short ones. Lastly, one needs to be very careful to replace the RAM SOICs' metal cover very "plumbly". I didn't get it exactly right and had one set of grabber finger contacts to both be OUTSIDE of the cover. So, it needed to be removed, that set of contact fingers slightly bent to realign them for proper "pinching" onto the shield wall and its little metal nipples. It then snapped down nicely to my great satisfaction. Once done, everything went back together nicely. Your RUclips video greatly minimized the fear factor of taking on this RAM upgrade.
@@GaugingGadgets yup I'm actually very happy about this. Speed was automatically downgraded to 2933, which is totally understandable its some kind of firmware stability thing.

Second only desktop mainboards can overclock RAM, be it with intel's XMP, or AMD's equivalent thing. 100% of laptops can not overclock RAM. Yes! It’ll work even if you have different speeds, ram has no problem underclocking to match a slower stick (you may need to enter bios to underclock manually if it doesn’t automatically). Linus tech tips has a great video on mixing different brands and clocks of ram.

Can you keep the original stick of ram and plug in another 8gb ram stick? If they're the same ram stick? Or what if they're different but both still 8gb?
figure it out yet 7 months later? I Just upgraded mine ... used a skinny flathead screwdriver to pry up everywhere FORWARD from the vents aka the front of the laptop, and then just with my slightly grown out fingernails, gripped into the sides of the vent area and just gently but firmly pulled/pry it up & away from laptop, and they popped off of the vent areas easier than expected...... 2021 Legion 5 17" version
I have questions as I have Legion 5 5600h RTX3050ti 8gb RAM: 1)Can i pair the new RAM with the old one, will this cause any issue? Because i just want to save cost and buy 1 stick only Or is one stick 16gbx1 is better?

How did you manage to open the laptop cover near the exhaust area? I’ve been struggling for an hour now
Same
figure it out yet 7 months later? I Just upgraded mine ... used a skinny flathead screwdriver to pry up everywhere FORWARD from the vents aka the front of the laptop, and then just with my slightly grown out fingernails, gripped into the sides of the vent area and just gently but firmly pulled/pry it up & away from laptop, and they popped off of the vent areas easier than expected...... 2021 Legion 5 17" version
@@Sir...... Yeah I got it a while ago, even forgot I wrote this comment, I just used a thinner guitar pick and it worked.
I have questions as I have Legion 5 5600h RTX3050ti 8gb RAM:
1)Can i pair the new RAM with the old one, will this cause any issue? Because i just want to save cost and buy 1 stick only
Or is one stick 16gbx1 is better?

What about having teo different ddr’s. The manufactured that comes with the machine, and then another one? Does it work. It’s not cheap nowdays with pc components.
