I really appreciate how deep, insightful, & thorough your reviews are! I’d rather listen to/watch quality reviews on fewer books than surface-level, rushed reviews on a larger quantity of books.
I so appreciate the way you ignore the non-spoiler trend on BookTube, and really personalize your review of each of the plots… It made me enjoy the books I had also read all over again! And great observations about character growth- the empathy and life lessons you’re drawing out- preach! 🎉
House of the cerulean is the book that got me out of my reading slump a couple years ago. Such a good read! Under the whispering door is just as good. Made me cry 😢
I didn’t even finish this video a few weeks ago, I immediately went and downloaded The Fourth Wing on KU and LOVED IT! Seriously the best book I’ve read in a long time and then Downloaded the 2nd one and demolished it too. Loved it so much! Thanks for the recommendation! Great start to my kindle life!
If you're interested in reading more books about black characters with a great story, check out The Vanishing Half. I still think about that book and I read it about three years ago. Highly recommend if you haven't read it yet. I wasn't too impressed by Until the Coffee Gets Cold either.
Every time I go to a library shop I see “Before the coffee gets cold” and each time I want to buy but I have to remind myself that I know I won’t like it. Forth Wing is on my tbr list now!!
I’m gonna have to check out Fourth Wing eventually…and I too want to have more books with black main characters. I’m already diving in the spooky books 😂
Hey I just recently found your Channel and I’m already in love with your content. I love your energy and your humour and it just feels like I could be friends with you very easily. 😊 I really like your personal reviews but would appreciate time stamps for each book so that I can skip a book I still want to read without any spoilers.
Thank you so much for this comment! I’m always looking for ways to improve and this is a great suggestion, I’ll definitely be doing this in future videos ☺️🩷
Love your reviews. Will definitely be reading most of these, most excited to read The house in the Cerulean Sea!!! If you haven't read Firefly lane, definitely recommend:)
Also I loveddddddddddd Fourth Wing. I've convinced all my friends to read it and they loved it It was such an easy and fun read, I don't normally read fantasy but I loved this one
for books with black main characters you should check out Akwaeke Emezi, they're a Nigerian author with a variety of books. My absolute favourite by them is You made a fool of death with your beauty Others are: This mournable body by Tsitsi Dangarembga Purple Hibiscus, Half of a yellow Sun and Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie❤❤
I loved Fourth Wing and have preorderd Iron Flame. I am so happy that you loved this book because it is my favorite book of the year this year. I also read Incredibly Bright Creatures in August ( I too hated Cameron and if he had not grown I would have given the book 3 stars but he matured and like you I gave it 4 stars). I read Before the Coffee Gets Cold last year and I thought it started off great but somewhere it started to stray or something.
absolutely loved hearing your thoughts on house in the cerulean sea!!! i absolutely *loved* that book, i actually cried a little at the end, as someone who was also in the system as a kid it hit all the notes so i always love it when people recommend it because its such a brutal nd honest look at how bad care homes can be, despite the rules nd regulations in place. all in all my mental health is cured, crops are watered, family is fed, skin is clear, life is good because of that book 😂😂
Love this for you!! I’m so happy you didn’t let your upbringing stunt your growth in life. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you 👏🏽🩷 also don’t worry I literally ugly cried reading this book too 😭
I’m so happy you loved The house in the cerulean sea!!! When you posted the poll I was crossing my fingers you would read that one instead of the winner 😆 In my head I take a little bit of credit lol It’s also one of my favorites and I agree with everything you said. Also agree with your review of Before the coffee gets cold, I actually read that one after THITCS and I was in such a high from it that maybe it just didn’t live up to my expectations.
I love you’re videos I’m currently reading the silent patient to step out of my comfort zone but so far I’m not a fan of it I have to force myself to read it😅
You have to read Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson! Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Its about black love and the writing is exquisite ❤ I also almost gave up on Emily Henry. I was not a fan of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation but Happy Place was amazing. One of my most favs this year. Don't give up on her just yet!
Hey, I just found out your channel. And I’ve loved your vlog already. I was just wondering, have you ever read the invisible life of addie larue by v.e schwab? What is your thought about it?
One book I would recommend to anyone reading this is: 'Aristotle and Dante discovers the secret of the Universe'. If you see this, please consider reading it. Its such a great, well written book about two boys, coming to understanding of who they are, who they love and where they belong in America. “Maybe we just lived between hurting and healing.” a book that lives i my soul.
I’m getting to the end of the video now and seeing that you read it. I totally agree! Cameron was so insufferable for a large part of the book. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts about the book overall
So I'm rewatching this video again after i e read Before The Coffee Gets Cold and honestly i totally understand gow you feel about it I was so disappointed. Wow thank you 🥹💕 I’m always a little self conscious of the fact that I don’t read as much as other booktubers so this means a lot 🩷
Have you read The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins?
I trust your reviews more than anyone on booktube. I can’t wait to read a few of these!! Thank you for being my comfort booktuber
Wow you’re so sweet 🥹 thank you for the support 🫶🏽
