Also take into account the drought of no Knicks post-seasons before & after Linsanity. Before Jeremy came along, there were 8 of 10 seasons prior without playoffs. And afterwards, another 7 straight seasons of no post -season... until 2020. Sure they had a good season in 2012-2013, post-Lin, but that was about it, done for another 7 years of nothing. If anything, Jeremy's "divine" short mission during lockout 2011-2012 was to bring the Knicks back to 0.500 so they could have a post-season. Some may call these things a coincidence, but when Jeremy, as a devout Christian, desperately prayed that he could stay in the league after being cut twice prior, you might have to think otherwise. But it's not just about prayers, you have to work on that prayer. He did the same thing in Charlotte, where he got the Hornets into the post-season in 2015-2016, after a decade of nothingness with only 1 other prior post-season & 1 other later post-season without him, but the rest of those decades before & after were also blanks of no playoffs. As far as LIn staying in NY, the handwriting was on the wall when D'Antoni left & the full story of that hasn't really come out & probably never will, with Melo having also been a rumored suspect in that. Then take into account that James Dolan said he would "pay a billion dollars" jokingly to keep Lin, but when Houston's poison pill came along, Dolan's billion-dollar promise (even though it was a joke) went up in smoke. Lin is currently playing in Taiwan (after his stint in China), & has also put up a 38-point high there, just as he did a 38 in New York & a 38 in Houston. That number 38 sure is "odd" though (pun intended) & seems to have followed Lin wherever he goes.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. The other great time to be a Knicks fan was when Amare joined the team and with Felton, Wilson Chandler, and Danilo Galanari, the team was winning like crazy. Then they went out and got a young Harden who never saw a shot he didn't like. This was prob worse than playing with Melo. He didn't avg more than 13, yeah, but he was still very solid in Houston, 13 a game with 6 assists. In NY he would have been a good 20ppg scorer with about 8-9assist a game for sure.

And NY fans that love Carmelo was telling how I was lying and didn't know what I was talking about. Camelo's jealousy of h being in the spotlight caused him to freeze Lin out on the court several times, he would hate on him right there on the court. Carmelo created a following amongst his teammates, that seemed to play and work against Jeremy Lin's Success. I was pissed watching black players act that way towards a teammate just because he was getting the spotlight.

Namely defense and lack of playmaking. He was a good passer when engaged.....he was good at everything when engaged enough. Melo could have been a top 10-15 player, if he had of dedicated himself to defense and winning. He was a good rebounder, and had all the tools to be a good defender, had he cared enough. However the Celtics medical staff had advised him to possibly sit out for the playoffs because of it, but he refused to. During the ECF vs the Cavs, he went and inflamed it. THAT was what messed up his career. Danny Ainge traded him because he knew that injury would affect his athleticism in the long term, but also knew that other teams weren't aware of the seriousness yet. During the off season before the trade, the talk around the league was still about Isaiah finally getting a max deal the following year. That's why so many people felt like swapping IT for Kyrie was a perfectly fair trade. In fact, it wasn't even uncommon to hear that the Cavs actually won the trade.
I do kind of agree that Ainge did him dirty because of everything IT sacrificed to help that team win. I feel like he should have at least called him to let him know the situation. But ultimately, Ainge just did his job, and that's why he's one of the top execs in the NBA

Linsanity actually put that team across the country at that time. Lin got so much potential and with all those hypes, the people could make so much money out of him by doing endorsement especially for the Asia global market. We all know China is a tremendous market. How many Nike shoes they could sell at that time if Jlin got treated good and shined. BUT NO, someone fucked him up so bad. When he got to other NBA teams, they only treated him as backup 2nd class player. The guy didn't have a "fair" chance to become a super star.

  • @baivabjena1438

I agree with the points made about Carmelo, but it's the claim that Jeremy Lin could have been a world beater that puts me down. Like someone already stated, if you can have star-like stats in a SINGLE team and working with a SINGLE system, then you're not a star. He had his fair share of chances with other franchises. Literally no one except Knicks could find something for him? Absolutely no one? And all the blame falls on Melo?
I don't buy it, and that's my personal opinion, not putting up facts. Had Lin been that good, we should have heard more of him in the past few years after he left New York. Granted, we may have seen more of Linsanity had Melo backed down a little. But that argument can be put for every player in every team that had a strong start but eventually faded.
Melo is selfish, we all know that, be it the Lin situation or not. But he is definitely not the one who ruined Jeremy's career or anything.

you have to put it in context though. what led to jeremy not getting minutes, not getting drafted from harvard, cut by golden state and the rockets, despite how good he is? there's a level of racism at play here. he was overlooked OVER AND OVER. literally d'antoni played lin that first night cause there was LITERALLY no one else he could play due to so many injuries on the team.
when he went to houston, the coach preferred playing patrick beverly over lin, and james harden was the ball handler. if the coach doesnt want to play you and when he does play you doesnt let you play to your strengths, you are limited. i'm not saying it is all racism, but it plays a role. the proof is looking at his history. the proof is looking at linsanity numbers that rival jordan's numbers. i'm not saying he is michael jordan or even close- but if your entire life everyone doubts you including all your colleagues and coaches, it is a huge hurdle to overcome. in the middle of linsanity, floyd mayweather tweeted how the only reason jeremy is getting attention is because he is asian and that black players do the same thigns he does every night. this is super telling. you are seeing someone play at superstar levels, but you are believing he can't be that good because of the way he looks.

Lin didn’t play in the playoffs against heat even tho Lin said he was almost at a 100% and that’s why the Knicks had a falling out with him and declined two contracts and one match from the Knicks. Could have contributed more to the raptors Ring but the team was already good enough and trying to give Lin to many minutes is a big gamble especially in the middle end of the season when there chemistry was perfect. Lin could of made big plays in the playoffs if it weren’t for Fred playing his ass off and Lowry staying healthy. He was putting up 19.6 per 36 which is in sane for coming of the bench, i believe he’s being blacked ball as he should be a staring PG in the nba

I just googled if Melo has a ring but guess what he has no ring at all and Jeremy at least has 1 so screw you Melo you'll never get a ring before you retire. I wish Jeremy stayed in New York he would have gotten a championship or at least got to the finals and Linsanity will live on forever.

There's an old Korean saying, "70 percent luck and 30 percent your own skill" Lin was unlucky but he not the only one that's unlucky

Why did Lin fail? Cause he played with another offensive superstar in Houston so you’re gonna tell me he would continue this with a player who was scoring more at the time?

being a half taiwanese, im super proud that someone with our heritage made it to the nba and actually managed to stay there.
not saying he was gon be a superstar but he legit could play, just had bad luck with injuries.
and man, i was always a defender of melos in terms of saying he could still contribute but man, remembering this shit makes me regret doing that lol

I absolutely hope that Jokic gets 15 retired rather than Melo in Denver would be so fitting on top of not having a ring compared to Lin & Jokic
