How to re-bind a Honeywell DTS92E Thermostat & BDR91 Relay Box

  • Richard from The Smart Thermostat Shop.co.uk (formally The Evohome Shop.co.uk) shows you how to re-bind/re-pair a Honeywell DTS92E Wireless Thermostat & Honeywell BDR91 Wireless Relay Box (also known as a Honeywell DT92E).
    These devices can easily become unbound if you press and hold the wireless relay box button for more than 15 seconds, so should be an easy fix following our video.
    However, if your DTS92E thermostat has failed, you can buy a Honeywell Home DT4R to replace the DTS92E and will easily bind to your existing BDR91 here - thesmartthermostatshop.co.uk/...

    I had a council repair man come to look at it and he didn’t know what to do and asked me to call again today and ask for another engineer call out. I woke up cold and miserable and decided to just search for the product number on RUclips and this angel of a man popped up. I followed his video and now my boiler is back on with heating and hot water and I didn’t have to take another day off work waiting for the council engineer. Thank you

    A sincere thank you for this. There are shorter videos on RUclips that don't go into this level of detail and so don't adequately explain how to get this thing working. I have bookmarked it so I can refer again. Honeywell have made this ludicrously complex for the layman.

Followed your video instructions and can already feel the radiators warming up! We’ve been abroad in climates of above 30 temperatures and to return home yesterday evening to cold U.K. temperatures again was hard especially with the radiators not working! Straight forward & clear instructions. I cleared down the DT92E as described but nothing happened on the receiver when I held the button down (for longer than suggested, too). The units were new in January, replacing ones with the same problem i.e. not talking to each other/unresponsive which led to the central heating being constantly on unless I turned off the boiler. This is again the same situation. Are they duff or is it me?

    • @MWPHS

      @@neil-robb annoyingly no. But one possibility could be the permanent live wire to the base plate on the receiver wasn't permanently live. The feed was taken from the ch timer thing and the heating bods thought that because this was being turned off to prevent the boiler from continually running, the receiver unit was getting so confused it just packed up.
      Not a lot of help I'm afraid but it might be worth checking.

    Thank you so much for this clear explanation.
    I've rebound the thermostat and relay box successfully. But that has introduced two new issues - 1) the override for the heating doesn't kick in, and 2) for the pre-set time for the radiators the heating is very modest. It comes on but at a very low temperature.
    The thermostat reads 17.5 degrees and the target temperature is 21.5 degrees. The flame icon is visible, and the RFID very occasionally appears.
    Any thoughts? Could the rebinding have changed more settings? We've always had full heat or no heat in the radiators - no halfway point. All individual radiator thermostats are turned on and I've just tried switching them all to maximum but the override is not having an effect. Thanks.

    • @MWPHS
      @MWPHS  Год назад +2

      Unfortunately Howard you are asking us to diagnose your heating system problems with a crystal ball (joke)! :) It sounds like you have an issue not associated to the room thermostat, so this needs investigating by a heating installer. Just re-pairing the thermostat alone following the video we have produced would not change anything (as long as the video is followed to the letter).

    I changed the batteries in my Stat (having also confirmed the batteries are indeed working) but I get absolutely nothing on the screen. Does this mean my Stat is kaput?

      Ginny Kopacz quite possibly yes. Apologies for the late reply.

    Hi, I have that very thermostat in my living room but however high or low I set the temperature, the radiators heat up to the same degree. What does the power button do? I thought if I pressed it while I went out, it would stall the heating till I got back but it appears to do nothing. Can you help please

    • @MWPHS
      @MWPHS  8 месяцев назад +1

      The power button should turn the heating off. You need to bear in mind the thermostat is only one part of a heating system and if the other components are faulty, then it won't matter what you set the thermostat to, it might still operate? Obtain a local heating installer to come and check your heating system for you.

      There are two models of Honeywell thermostats and they look the same. This video is specifically for the DTS92E. If you have a DT90 this video will not working for you.

      Is the green light coming on the relay box? If it is, could be a fault beyond the thermostat? Speak to your local heating installer.

    I'm afraid the CLR screen doesn't come up, only the Inst screen. The down button does nothing after this, the Up bottom only gives other options - not the CLR screen. I would be very grateful if you could advise how else to rebind?

      Are you sure you have a DTD92E? If you take the batteries out, does the code say DTS92E or DT90E? If it is a DTS92E then following the video will result in the correct menus displaying.
