Kyrie Irving - Fantastic Finisher

    Kyrie Irving is frightening. His handles are arguably the best in the league (at worst, he’s in the top 3), he can create off the dribble, and he’s a scorching sharpshooter. However, his best skill, BY FAR, is his ability to finish around the basket. He’s got everything it takes to be elite at the rim. Deceptiveness and Daring. Focus and Finesse. Composure and creativity. Balance and brilliance.
    The up & under, the twisting reverse, a Kyridiculous amount of hang time, the presence of mind to use the rim to shield from a shot blocker. Whatever way you want the ball put in, Uncle Drew can get that done for you. He seems to have an innate understanding of english at the rim, but truth be told, you can find videos out there about him talking about the work he puts in. Using the Mikan drill, he figures out finishes. He practices every manner of spinning the ball, from EVERY angle, in order to be prepared for anything. His work with Micah Lancaster allowed him to expand his already absurd arsenal. You see, he isn’t just getting the ball and throwing it up. You certainly don’t get to be the MVP of a World Cup that featured Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and the Gasol brothers (playing for the host Spain) by doing that.
    Footwork. Moves. Counters. Stopping on a dime. Contorting in midair. Kyrie’s finishing mastery is less magic and more method. Yes, he’s fantastic, and yes, he finishes with a flourish, but he is fundamentals first. His preparation paves the way for the excellence we see every time he plays. He made third team All-NBA this past season and he’s only 23 years old. He’s steadily improving every aspect of his game, especially given what kind of defensive effort we saw out of him before his season ended in Oracle. He has been and will continue to be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Kyrie’s ceiling is like his ability around the rim; you think you know what can happen, but the possibilities are endless.
    I should say this isn't comprehensive. These are all from the past season and I know that his first few years were highlight filled, but I wanted to focus on the 2014-2015 campaign.

    best finisher in the nba, best finisher since prime d.wade my opinion

    • @EvinGualberto
      @EvinGualberto  9 лет назад +17

      MaccBoii just off the top of my head, range and shot blocking. Kobe has always had more range, and Wade has always been one of the great weak side shot blockers in the NBA. Both were underrated distributors, great defenders, able to will their teams to championships, but I'd say probably Kobe has always been able to hit the three more consistently and Wade was as elite a rim defender as any guard has ever been.

    • @EvinGualberto
      @EvinGualberto  9 лет назад +8

      MaccBoii you're asking who the better finisher was, both in their primes? That's TOUGH. Like, for real, that's TOUGH. Prime Wade was probably the best finisher around the basket by virtue of him having to be. Kobe was and still is one of the premier shot makers in the league (this is coming from someone who hated Kobe for a long time but has always respected him), and he's always had the unstoppable arsenal but again, Wade's J wasn't as prolific as Kobe's. Keeping in mind that the Kobe pull-up was always a threat, I'd give the slightest edge to Wade.

    • @russell9411

      +Brian sTorm fUry He doesn't really need one, though. If you tried to put all his different layups in package it would have like 46 different moves, lol. His fancy layups are the sort where you tap the shoot button again in the middle of the basic layup and the Acrobat and Relentless Finisher perks and his 96 in driving layup kick in and do the rest. These double-tap shots miss A LOT on Superstar or Hall of Fame with most other players, but with Kyrie they go in like 55% of the time. I have a Superstar Sim GM playing with the Cavs, and because of Kyrie's 98 in acceleration coming around pick and rolls, he is ridiculously hard to stop in that game.

    Kyrie best handles and very strong argument for best finisher in the league hands down. Only reason I say there is an argument about best finisher is because other players, like Steph Curry (ugh) can finish jump shots with contact at a higher clip. At the rim, easily best finisher.

      melo fan I would love to, JKidd is one of my all-time favorites, but the clips are few and far between (I'm talking HD and with original game commentary, because formatting becomes an issue). I could do videos celebrating each thing he did well (of which there are many), and I've wanted to, but again, the quality of the clips are sparse. Sorry.

      +Blue4ever 96 Barely any money at all (I can't really earn anything because the clips are owned by the NBA), and a variety of different programs depending on the format I get the games/video files in, but Adobe & Quicktime just about covers it.

Prime example, J.J Redick has the highest 3pt percentage in the league, does that make him a better 3pt shooter than Curry?No. Same goes for Kyrie, attempts more layups and has better finishes than Curry. Much more skillful than Curry around the rim, stats don't help you know this but the old school eye test.
