    Sorry, I tried last summer with natural rope but it didn't work so I tried with cotton for crochet also it's not working, so I tried with wool yarn still it's not working. Then the day before we leave for a week vacation I took some big Ziplock Bags, pour water into it & pricked (1 tiny hole) with thin needle at the bottom & place it close to the stem of my plants. Brilliant, they work well.

    Good idea . U can avoid soil filling into third pot by simply keeping the pot upside down also or use any other object in between the tomoto plant pots like a small plank like bridge and save one pot with soil.. Alternatively, u can keep the water bottle in one of the pots with plants and avoid third pot with soil

      Thank you! 🙂True, as long as the pot is large enough to hold the water bottle.

    That's great. Saves wasting money at a hardware store. Keep mozies out with a gentle cotton wool ball placed in the bottle top.

    Recommendations: 1)tie a nut or washers to twine to weigh down in bottle and 2) hole in a popsicle stick or garden tag instead of toothpick in soil to anchor twine - good wind would blow this away.

  • @crnazareth

    2 things to add...
    use a thinner rope or better yet use a string . It will drip at a slower pace at the same time be sufficient for the plant.
    Make a small hole in the bottle cap and pass the string through the cover. Keeping it open will give access to mosquitoes to breed

    Irigasi tetes dengan tali sebagai pengantar tetes air...
    Saran. sebaiknya botol ditutup dengan tutup botolnya 1 putaran untuk mencegah nyamuk bertelur( bahaya).
    Jumlah tetesan bisa diatur...1 tali...,2 tali, 3 tali 1-3 tetes per 5 detik ( 12 tetes / menit).
    Untuk siram boleh 12 tetes/ menit, 1 tetes / 5 detik untuk perawatan biasa, bisa juga dihentikan dengan cara lepas tali dari pot...( di vedeo ini ada pohon tomat).

    I think it's better to bury the cord in the substrate so that the speed of watering could depend on the saturation level. Otherwise I calculated that about a litre of water could be spent in 2 days. For some plants that could be too much. For example, my lemon tree uses only around 500 ml of water in a week.

    • @CoolStuff7
      @CoolStuff7  2 года назад +4

      True! I didn't bury the thread in the ground so I could film the drop accurately. It is certainly better if we bury the thread.👌

    5 min video for putting a string in a bottle and the other end in a pot? Great Content! A Question which would have been more interesting: is the flow rate enough to water the tomatoes efficiently?

    Nice video, thanks for sharing! You can improve your watersystem if you put the end of the rope a few inches into the soil...in this case the plant takes exactly as much water as needed...if you're planning a vacation just use a bigger container...I would also recommend not to use plastic bottles...bc of the heat from sunlight some of the chemicals will dissolve into the water and therefore into your plants...

      When you say the chemicals will come in contact with the plants, does it mean we may ingest it when we eat them? Thanks

    • @kathawenzel8033
      @kathawenzel8033 3 года назад +1

      @@marcelo.n actually yes...like you ingest some of the plastic chemicals if you drink from plastic bottles...there are quite a few studies and experiments that showed the less solid and more soft these bottles are they more likely give some of the chemicals into the contained water...and with heat as a factor in this case sunlight, more chemicals dissolve...so if your achievement is to grow organic you would probably use natural materials as a watercontainer, like glass, terracotta or stone...the system remains the same though

      @@kathawenzel8033 thanks so much for the info. I sort of suspected that to be the case but now that you've confirmed I'll be careful about it. BTW most of bottles are made of soft plastic nowadays - except for soft drinks and sparkling water

    Desde vzla* gracias por tu enseñanza. veo 2 detalles. ¿1- como hace esa humedad para subir tanta altura? 2- creo q esa humedad no pasa directa, al salir correría por la botella, porque al topar la boca de la botella la cortaría

    This is a good idea. Jute ropes are awesome. They dont work with Nylon one. Also, How many days this will support the plants. I am going out for 2 weeks and looks like this will take a big bucket or something for my 10 pots.

      Almost 2 weeks in the greenhouse. In the house it is possible to empty faster. To make sure there is enough water, you can use larger plastic bottles of 6 liters. Good luck! 😉

    Most of what you're doing happens outside the frame, because the camera is too close.
    I don't think it will help anything though, when it's really hot in summer.
