Sorry, I tried last summer with natural rope but it didn't work so I tried with cotton for crochet also it's not working, so I tried with wool yarn still it's not working. Then the day before we leave for a week vacation I took some big Ziplock Bags, pour water into it & pricked (1 tiny hole) with thin needle at the bottom & place it close to the stem of my plants. Brilliant, they work well.
Good idea . U can avoid soil filling into third pot by simply keeping the pot upside down also or use any other object in between the tomoto plant pots like a small plank like bridge and save one pot with soil.. Alternatively, u can keep the water bottle in one of the pots with plants and avoid third pot with soil
Recommendations: 1)tie a nut or washers to twine to weigh down in bottle and 2) hole in a popsicle stick or garden tag instead of toothpick in soil to anchor twine - good wind would blow this away.
2 things to add... use a thinner rope or better yet use a string . It will drip at a slower pace at the same time be sufficient for the plant. Make a small hole in the bottle cap and pass the string through the cover. Keeping it open will give access to mosquitoes to breed
I think it's better to bury the cord in the substrate so that the speed of watering could depend on the saturation level. Otherwise I calculated that about a litre of water could be spent in 2 days. For some plants that could be too much. For example, my lemon tree uses only around 500 ml of water in a week.
Thank you for the appreciations! Being outdoors, for trees I recommend you pull the thread through a hose ruclips.net/video/dUujRyHrPOU/видео.html&ab_channel=CoolStuff and orient yourself to another kind of thread as in the example below ruclips.net/video/7VjmYPj6Kb0/видео.html&ab_channel=CoolStuff Hemp twine has the slowest dripping. @Killian Bridger i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Killian Bridger DAMN IT REALLY WORKED :O Literally hacked my IG password after roughly 40 mins by using the site. Just had to pay 15 bucks but for sure worth the price :O Thanks so much you saved my account!
You could have the string inside some flexible tube. Have the tube slightly longer than the string. Then you could push the tube into the soil and there's a slight gap for the drip to fall. That'd eliminate/minimize any evaporation
Cheers, thank you! Will be trying this is greenhouse, keeping it watered is our weak point, especially in bad weather. 👏👏👏 We have a large table with sand to help retain moisture, so thinking could run a mat of strings under sand too, to water 100/200+ 3 inch pots etc. 🤷
Good idea. You can improve the same to.supply water 2to 3 inches below the soil by inserting a small plastic tube below the tip of the thread to avoid water exposure to sunlight thus minimizing water evaporation 🙏
nice content, tomato fresh. that is the technique to keep water in the gallon and the best thing is the rope that the bridge of water. thank you for sharing. sending my full support.
No , it's gravity fed,it has to be higher than the pot , as long as the rope/yarn (not this plastic shit theses days ) is wet it will water ya plants until the bottle is empty. And make sure you have enough rope in bottle. 👍
@ Sweet Nara It depends a lot on the weather. In a closed space it does not evaporate, if it is in an open space, at very high heat or strong wind the wire evaporates or dries. If you use the system outside, it is better to pass the wire through the hose. ruclips.net/video/dUujRyHrPOU/видео.html&ab_channel=CoolStuff
Ha ha same here in Phoenix, so I'm thinking of putting the twine inside a flexible tube. Should work at least for some time of the year and save water..

hello, can the system completely empty the water in the bottle?
Lg
