@@WolfXGamerful Could be softlock prevention. Without this distinction, if your autosave happened to be fucked up and put you over a pit, you would just respawn at that last autosave and fall in the pit over and over.

Lol I’m glad that SEGA and Sonic Team are committed to keeping this game updated and active, especially with how they usually just drop games after a few patches. No content updates, no big/special DLCs, nothing. It really feels like they care this time and they wanna show that they care. Here’s hoping Update 3 will be great!

Extreme mode reminds me of the problem the "Dante Must Die" difficulty in Devil May Cry games have, where allowing so few mistakes makes players more critical of every enemy and boss' moveset. Attacks that were frustrating in normal mode become even worse in harder difficulties when you can't just tank through attacks anymore. DMC3 has this problem with some of its enemies like the angels or the ones that shoot projectiles from off-screen. Usually, they're an annoyance, but now that every attack is fatal, it becomes much more stressful and feels even cheaper.
Angels are annoying, even when not playing DMD because they can decide "fuck you" and go through the wall so you just have to sit there and wait for it to come back, meanwhile you can't even hit it and it can hit you
@@HOTD108_ That's the thing a lot of people don't seem to get. Harder difficulties are supposed to be harder than the ones below it. Yes a lot of things will be unfair and unbalanced on those harder difficulties, but in most cases that's the point of a higher difficulty. If it's not making you actually think about how you approach the level or form some sort of strategy, it's not really hard, is it. If you can just get through the game without thinking much about what you're doing on a harder difficulty, it's not really challenging, unless you've just got a shit ton of practice Like, look at FF7 Remake. On Hard Mode, it's practically a different game with how you play it. You can't stay in one character for too long. Because you can't use items you really have to consider your builds and how you want each character to work. I sat on Tifa for minute too long and she fucking died almost instantly. Even though I'm not able to play hard modes, I still think they should be tough and a bit unfair

This video has some… interesting timing. But given the additions in the newest update, I’m super happy. Just the toggle for the jump deceleration fixed one of the biggest issues with the game for me, on top of update 1’s QoL features. I’m so glad Sonic Team is taking our feedback in stride, and I genuinely have hope for update 3 to revamp Ouranos and the final bosses like Kishimoto said they would consider.

One thing I found myself getting lost in was just how much fun I had platforming for the more difficult-to-reach music notes. I'm glad more notes got added in Update 2.
I think a better way extreme mode could’ve been handled is to make it so a single hit makes you lose all your rings, and your rings don’t drop on the ground. This makes things a two hit most of the time which helps prevent the feeling of cheap deaths and you can’t just pick your own rings back up over and over.

The point that the game feels like it can’t decide what experience the player should have and the player is made to figure it out definitely resonates with me, especially with the update that just launched. The air deceleration are good changes, but them being sliders feels like the game can’t decide on an actual identity for itself and how it should play.
Hot Take: I think the Juke Box should only be New Game+. It's hard to go back to the situationally-perfect music of Frontiers when I can always have Speed Highway playing.

Honestly because of the combat and how it was I was never really inclined to try extreme mode in base game, as I needed a better incentive to play the combat of forces. but now with the insight of how while some are worse, the fact some enemies like tower become an actual fight instead race 2 get hurt. I adore, especially the cyber space time limits.

While I like the changes to Cyberspaces time requirements I kinda hate everything else about Extreme mode since it doesn't necessarily make the game all that harder, it just makes it more tedious and a little annoying at points. Ironically enough, not being able to lose power boost is actually more of a detriment since a lot of the more intensive platforming segments are designed around the standard boost so you end up awkwardly having to feather the button to not end up rail switching into an abyss or swerving off a cliff. Some of the enemies (like Fortress or Strider) are also kind of a slog without being able to just kill them on a one cycle, I think instead of not letting you level up at all, they should've just halved the level cap instead so you can at least have SOME damage but not the insane degree you had in the regular difficulties.
Most photo modes don't have a way to snap a pic with a button, because it's redundant. Every console has that feature baked in and pc has that too with print screen or other shortcuts (or steam like you mentioned)
I think the reason why there is no command to save photos in this game is because the developers only thought about the Nintendo Switch, *which has a specific button made to take pictures and automatically save it to an album.*

This is how crazy/devoted a Frontiers player I am. Update 1 came out when we were rehearsing for our college play, and because I was playing a smallish character, I was backstage most of the time. I pretty much devoted that time to grinding the challenge modes for the best times, and I had to try REALLY HARD not to throw my Switch when I made a misstep. What has Sonic done to me?
Seems silly to have Extreme mode to have a "one-touch = death" rule like in DMC or other such games. I think they should have made it like classic Sonic rings where you lose all of them on being hit and the maximum amount that drops is a fixed amount (up to 20 in most games).

In the alternate ending ,other characters you can level up the stats but if you die you lose it but if you interact with them after you died you can get the stats back.But it won't show you
Glad to hear you came around on Chaos island. Being locked into a 2d section youve already done is annoying but the 2d segments i like the most actually bc they require quicker reflexes and a better use of all of your moves. Air Dash stomping is fantastic feeling in 2d. Now oc id like no 2d in my 3d sonic. Something we havent gotten since Sonic 06 weirldy enough. And i do like the other islands are mostly 3d. But something about Chaos Island as a different type of island from the others. Idk it works for me as an island. And even Chaos has plenty of 3d tho not nearly as much. chaos is my favorite island. The last island is the biggest but i spend most time in Chaos as i love just running around that island even if the final island has the most content. The DLc has been great so far i think greatly enhancing the game which is already thought was excellent. We'll see what the story dlc is but if its good this will be my favorite 3d sonic game. Right now its kinda tied with SA1. Also we def need more sonic content from you reviews rankings whatever. They are fantastic
Speaking of update 2 and the respawn points...never play those timed challenges on extreme mode Sometimes you finish 3 in a few minutes, get hit once and notice that every challenge you've completed is now reset
I personally limit myself into raising my Attack to 10, then maxing out my Defense, and raising my Speed to a high amount so that it doesn’t match Power Boost’s speed. Rings don’t really matter to me, having 400 is enough.

Ironically enough, not being able to lose power boost is actually more of a detriment since a lot of the more intensive platforming segments are designed around the standard boost so you end up awkwardly having to feather the button to not end up rail switching into an abyss or swerving off a cliff.
Some of the enemies (like Fortress or Strider) are also kind of a slog without being able to just kill them on a one cycle, I think instead of not letting you level up at all, they should've just halved the level cap instead so you can at least have SOME damage but not the insane degree you had in the regular difficulties.

Most photo modes don't have a way to snap a pic with a button, because it's redundant. Every console has that feature baked in and pc has that too with print screen or other shortcuts (or steam like you mentioned)
I think the reason why there is no command to save photos in this game is because the developers only thought about the Nintendo Switch, *which has a specific button made to take pictures and automatically save it to an album.*
The PS5 and the Xbox series (I think) also have buttons for taking pictures

This is how crazy/devoted a Frontiers player I am. Update 1 came out when we were rehearsing for our college play, and because I was playing a smallish character, I was backstage most of the time. I pretty much devoted that time to grinding the challenge modes for the best times, and I had to try REALLY HARD not to throw my Switch when I made a misstep. What has Sonic done to me?

Seems silly to have Extreme mode to have a "one-touch = death" rule like in DMC or other such games. I think they should have made it like classic Sonic rings where you lose all of them on being hit and the maximum amount that drops is a fixed amount (up to 20 in most games).

Im pretty sure that happened because falling off the lsland isnt dying, its simply puts you back where you last touched the ground without stealing any progress
3-3 (assuming that is the sky sanctuary level ripped from generations), isn't that hard to s rank when you realize the devs hid a cheeky portal in the entrance to the final tower. It's just left of the rail you skate in on.

In the alternate ending ,other characters you can level up the stats but if you die you lose it but if you interact with them after you died you can get the stats back.But it won't show you
Glad to hear you came around on Chaos island. Being locked into a 2d section youve already done is annoying but the 2d segments i like the most actually bc they require quicker reflexes and a better use of all of your moves. Air Dash stomping is fantastic feeling in 2d. Now oc id like no 2d in my 3d sonic. Something we havent gotten since Sonic 06 weirldy enough. And i do like the other islands are mostly 3d. But something about Chaos Island as a different type of island from the others. Idk it works for me as an island. And even Chaos has plenty of 3d tho not nearly as much. chaos is my favorite island. The last island is the biggest but i spend most time in Chaos as i love just running around that island even if the final island has the most content. The DLc has been great so far i think greatly enhancing the game which is already thought was excellent. We'll see what the story dlc is but if its good this will be my favorite 3d sonic game. Right now its kinda tied with SA1. Also we def need more sonic content from you reviews rankings whatever. They are fantastic

Sometimes you finish 3 in a few minutes, get hit once and notice that every challenge you've completed is now reset

I personally limit myself into raising my Attack to 10, then maxing out my Defense, and raising my Speed to a high amount so that it doesn’t match Power Boost’s speed. Rings don’t really matter to me, having 400 is enough.
