Not a seafood person so I wouldn’t know myself but someone else said in the comment section that crabs have to be boiled alive, so these crab legs are probably bought pre-cooked and the whole baking process was a fancy way of saying “heat up”.
In many places snowcrab is found cooked and frozen. Crab doesnt last long fresh. If it us cooked and frozen it is a way to transport to areas farther away from the source of procurement. When purchased this way you can make a steaming pouch out of alum foil adding butter wine and fresh herbs and garlic to create steam in a high temp oven. U can then drain off the steaming liquid and use as a dipping sauce along side with melted salted butter if you choose.

Can’t give you everything, we would be here for awhile as a Caribbean and Black we season the mess out of our food. Every bite need to hit each taste bud. Also add beer that brings out more flavor!
