I don't know anybody in this world that can play rythm like that (basically a whole bunch of riffs) and sing on top of that....it's like two brains in one person...it's like two people working on stage basically...
Actually, any person with fingers and a minimal sense for music can learn to play like this, as long as they put the time and effort into learning it. Also, god didn't give him anything, his skill is a product of many years of practice.
Sorry kids but Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page had “nothin” on Roy Rogers. Check him out with the rest of his stuff. Too bad I just discovered him recently! He’s great!!!
Great extravaganza guitar but singing & rhythm not very faithful to the Melody nor the funky sexiness of vsns like Alvin Robinson or the Stones on their second album.

Love your down home playing
Roy, and Norton Buffalo, were UNBEATABLE...back in "da day"...little known, but damn fun to "I was there" party with!...Pacific Northwest Groupie
Saw them both at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley
I was privileged to see him in person a couple of years ago- he is first class. I has second row seats.
Holy Cow !
...Roy is really an alien disquised as guitar. The guitar player goes with the costume.
Saw him play in San Diego at the Belly Up 20 years ago but he didn’t play this one - he’s such a great performer.
I was lucky enough to have seen him perform & have been a Roy Rogers fan for over a couple decades...
You can't learn to play a guitar like this. It's a God given gift.

I can tell by those giant steps you been walking through the cotton fields.

Terrible version .
Probably because you play better than Roy, not
