Hi Mattias, normally I am very critical to most headstock repairs on RUclips because most of the repairs in my opinion is done in the wrong way, how ever... you did this pretty much the same way that I do it, byt only if the break is similar to the break in this video, a classic headstock-break will need splines and all that but this dont need that because you have a big surface to glue on and its not as much tension on the break as if the break would be on the other side of the nut. Rubberband is really great for this type of jobs, only thing I would do different is that I would use threaded clamps instead of the hand tightening models, because those are not reliable enough and over time they loose pressure, but in this case I think only the rubberband would do the trick. Well done sir.
Hey man, thanks I appreciate your comment and additional tips, I always do! And you are right, this was an easy break to fix, and that was the point to the video. If anyone wiyhout a guitar workshop experience a break like this they can easily fix it them self on their kitchen table. If I get a more severe neck break in my workshop I will do another video covering that :)
@@TheworldofMattias Yeah, in this case you had a very big area to put glue on and the break was clean, which mean the two pieces fits perfect. I mostly use Titebond Original for guitars, but now for some reason just 1-2 month back I bought 5 liters of Titebond III. I am almost out of glue so I am soon back to 5 liters of Titebond Original again.. :D But any Titebond will do and it will be stronger glue-joint than the wood it self.
Crikey, I wonder what the shipping box looked like!? Somebody must have jumped on that thing or ran it over with a forklift. That nice elongated, v shaped crack, typical for a flat sawn neck, made for a tidy repair. Good job, Matty!
Only set for an hour & 1/2? I thought you were supposed to clamp it for 24 hours? Nice job though my friend. I think you are a luthier, no matter what you say 😊
Great job. And the satisfaction it gives makes it all worth it.
Thanks man! 🎸
Very interesting to watch. Good job!
Thank you brother! ❤️
There would be some crazy
person who would glue that
together, it'll hold perfectly
and then they'll say; "now
let's put some splines in it."
