Hi guys, I don’t recall where I saw it, but an American fella framed the existing bifold entry door to his bus with Angle iron and it worked well, unsure if it’s compliant in Oz but hopefully it’ll help if you still have the original door, happy travels.

Watching your video just now has had the most delightful effect of making my heart smile. Your heartfelt description of the build, with your babe alongside, is proof that focus, hard work, determination and love (that you have for each other) makes everything possible. ❤️

Awesome build guys. Just a query, is there much red tape from engineers when you’re adding/taking weight to the vehicle and changing the internal structure? Looking at doing our own and would love to know what’s in it. ☺️

Hi Cam and Andel, I love your bus conversion. Could you please give me some more information on seating regulations for QLD when converting a bus to a home? We have 4 children that will travel full time with us and 3 need car seats still, plus 2 adults. Any help would be very much appreciated :)
    Happy travels

Hi Adam, YAY for your bus conversion journey! Very exciting! Basically, you need to get an engineer to come around and look at your particular bus and tell you how to go forward from there. For us, we still had the metal side rail (angle?) that runs along both sides of the bus that the original seatbelts were all bolted too, so because we left that in, we were able to just bolt our own seat belts onto it and have the engineer sign it off. It was quite easy actually. But that was for our particular bus, I'm not sure what yours has... As for car seats though. That was a bit more complicated because of the anchor points and the fact that car seats are supposed to face forward or backwards.. not sideways... We didn't exactly follow those rules 🙊 But the first step I would recommend to you, is getting an engineer in to have a chat and tell you what to do. I'm not sure where you are in QLD, but we were in the Whitsundays area and ended up getting Lindsay Stone - 0438 748 807 from Townsville. He was so great! Made it very simple, but of course, you're looking at about $1000 to have it all done, including a mod plate 😁 I think it was about $200 for the first visit where he told us what he needed us to do. Then $800 later on when he came back to sign off and give us the mod plate 👍🏼 I think the only other person that can do it is someone from Toowoomba, but I'm not sure of his details sorry. I hope I answered your question well enough. If not, ask some more haha! Happy to help and good luck 😁

I would think you need to bolt in some seat belts, no?

Very nice! Fellow Aussie here 👋. How much did the bus cost to make including materials? Also what are the regulations with seatbelts. Just wondering since some buses don’t have seatbelts.

My partner and I are the very beginning of our planning and budgeting stage of transitioning from regular gen Y renters, battling insane, living costs to living our best lives in bus!
Your honesty is refreshing and your positivity inspiring! @camandels9597 I’d love to see any mistakes or things you wish you known sooner, and also unforeseen challenges you’ve faced :)
    Awesome video guys!!
