oh I’m so glad I found y’all cause I have a water globe with a rose. I’ve had it for at least a couple of years and it’s spring lake. The roads don’t look so well but the water is really discolored so but I am going to do as y’all said, thank y’all so very much. Hopefully I can save it and you’ll have a great and blessed day
We are happy that we could help you. Here is some information that we received after making this video from an online florist who sells these rose globes; add 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar and 5 drops of chlorine bleach to the water to help preserve the rose. You can get more information here: www.bardflowers.com/rose-globe.html
We use filtered water and it works fine. We have never used tap water but we assume that there could be a lot of stuff in tap water that we don't want in the globe. Also, we found out from an online florist who sells these that the manufacturer adds 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar and 5 drops of chlorine bleach to the rose water. www.bardflowers.com/rose-globe.html
I have four of these and I added tap water to each of them. I'm waiting now to see how the water looks several months from now. I did not add bleach or vinegar because isn't that what makes the water yellow and not attractive in the first place? ❤
We believe the manufacturer adds the vinegar and bleach to preserve the rose. We have a couple that we replaced the water in a couple of years ago. We used filtered water with nothing else in it and it still looks good. Maybe the initial vinegar and bleach was enough and it doesn't need to be replaced when changing the water.
Excellent. You will be happy with the results. Remember to handle the rose carefully when you take it out of the water. We had one snap on us once it no longer had the water to support it. Also, after repairing this one we found out that the manufacturers of these rose globes add 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar, and 5 drops of chlorine bleach to the water. Apparently this helps preserve the rose. If you are interested we repaired our first Rose Globe in Episode 25 and then did a six month update video in Episode 79. Good luck.
We have not found a supplier that sells replacement globes of this type, if what you are looking for is a replacement globe to repair yours. If you are looking for a globe that is already filled you can check this online florist who sells them: www.bardflowers.com/rose-globe.html
That is correct. We found that out a few months ago when we were contacted by an online florist who sells these forever roses and is using our video on their site to show their customers how to change the water. They also had their own written instructions on the page. They got that information from the supplier. Until then we had no idea what was in that water. Thanks for sharing.
@@snowgloberescue8887 Hello, I loved finding your channel because I love snow globes. :) The solution is good, because it is cheap and easy to find, but unfortunately bleach (or chlorine) combined with vinegar produces a toxic chlorine gas. The toxic effects are chemical burns, mainly in the eyes and airways, from the nose to the lungs. In this case, I believe that the most prudent would be to test with only one of them, so that it is safer.
We use filtered water, however, we recently found out from a company that sells these Rose Globes that you need to add 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar, and 5 drops of chlorine bleach. Apparently it is to help preserve the rose and keep the water clear. We have three of these, the oldest one is about a year or so old. We used plain filtered water in all of them and they still look fine. We are going to try the vinegar and bleach on the next one and see what kind of difference it makes.
Sounds great. We had a request to add glitter the next time we fix one of those forever rose globes. We had not done it before since we were afraid that moving the globe around to get the glitter moving could damage the flower. However, there is only one way to find out. We plan to do that the next time we fix one. We look forward to your six month update.
That is actually a good idea. We didn't think of that. As far as spraying something on the flower first, we can say that the roses in these globes are all natural. There is nothing sprayed on them. However, we recently found out from a distributor that the manufacturer adds 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar and 5 drops of chlorine bleach to the globe water. That may be what keep them looking fresh.
just to add my grocery store sells these and we've had some break and they sometimes have formaldehyde to help preserve them so please be careful. @@snowgloberescue8887

According to them you add 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar, and 5 drops of chlorine bleach to the water. We've been trying to find that information for a while. Good luck!
So exciting to see another rose globe! This one turned out beautiful! Do you think you'll be able to reuse those globes after the flowers have finally wilted? It would be cool if you guys were able to replace the flower
Yes, this is a nice one and the rose is in much better condition. We believe we can reuse those globes. As you saw in episode 79, we placed one in a base. That is a good idea, maybe try a different flower and see how that does. If not, we can find a figurine or something that fits in there and create our own.
Thank u everyone for commenting! I've been trying to find out the liquid ratio to the globe. Hi. We spoke with an online florist who sells these forever roses and is using our video on their site to show people how to refill them. They also have written instructions on the page and their instructions show that the vinegar and bleach are what gets added to the water. I don't think killing the flower is a concern since it is a cut flower, however, the vinegar and bleach added to the water must help keep the flower from decomposing and wilting. It may also keep the water clear. These are our speculations as to what the purpose is since the florist did not know. Those were the instructions they received from the manufacturer. You can see the instructions on the following page: www.bardflowers.com/rose-globe.html

If it has to be changed approx every 6 mos, wouldn't it make more sense to use an artificial rose? There are some truly beautiful fake roses (and other flowers) out there. Just wondering out loud lol. I understand the significance of it being a real rose but I think the only way you can achieve that is with resin and even then it will eventually rot.
Yes, you are correct. I guess it is the novelty of it. When we give someone a bouquet of roses on a special occasion, the cut flowers go into a vase and a week or two later they are all withered and dead. With this there is one nice flower that you get to enjoy for approximately six months...Or, now that you know how to fix them you may be able to double that time! Hmmm...... Thanks for the comment and for watching!
You probably could just replace the rose. I know that the manufacturer adds a little white vinegar and chlorine bleach to the water.
