This was such a great video, thank you DIY guy! This is Nadine and I am on my 5th house remodel. I've never tackled hinges before but with your how to video, I now have the confidence that I can do it! I may be too late for the drawing but I am not too late to subscribe to your great channel. Thank you!
Great video, my father is recently retired and I’m keeping him busy with loads of DIY jobs about the house. We’re always losing pencils so the pencil with a clip will come in really handy for him! Currently renovating a bathroom so will be using it to frame out a bath panel.
Thank you for making this video. It was clear and your instructions are easy to follow. I have suddenly found myself alone and have not learned skills like this because my husband always did it. Your video has been very helpful! 👍👍
great video I like your very clear instructions, I am about to replace all my doors 9 no in my house and have found your tips very useful. The pencil would certainly help
Excellent video explains a lot more than I actually I know.there Is always room for improvement. No more stick in the hinge on the door I will get myself a depth gauge
Hey I’d love the Tracer! My youngest daughter asked for ideas for something around a tenner she could buy me for Christmas, and I sent her the link for a cheap Chinese carpenters pencil. It’s horrible! The lead is thick & clunky, and in no time the propelling cap flew off. Waste of time….. so I would love this as a replacement. I’m helping out my nephew convert a van into a camper… so one of these would be ideal for reaching into al those awkward spaces!
I will be refurbishing and doing out our project home (forever home) over the coming months the tracer pencil will be of huge benefit keep up the good work ! Love it
Hi DIY GUY… 👍🏾 Thanks for the video great content as always! I’ve got my most ambitious project coming up were I’ll be (trying to) project managing our extension. I’ll be completing my Domestic Installation course prior to this so I can take care of most of the electrics. The pencil would be very handy for my course. Keep the great video’s coming 👍🏾👍🏾
I really love your vids, thanks. I want to replace my parents' old doors so I'll use the pencil as you demonstrated in the video. Please keep uploading more videos, thanks :)
Great video. Looks super simple now it’s been clearly explained. The Tracer will come in handy for my next project which is recycling scaff boards and making a small breakfast bar for my daughters first house. Looking forward to more quality videos 👍
Hi. Great vid. Going to be building a built in wardrobe or trying to lol. The pencil will come in handy to mark all bits and bobs.associated with this project.
I have two sets of built in double wardrobes that each have 2 standard doors. Snag is they no longer close. One side is too high and snags the top, the other drops and hits the other door. I assume they were ok when installed 20 years ago. What I’m struggling to to is get them back square. They are not cupboard hinges so they are not easy to tweak. A video on this would be very useful. Thanks 😊
Pencil is a great tool and would use it for my floating desk project. Can you show us how to properly install a door lock as I always struggle with that
I'm south African i will truly appreciate it if I can get a pencil like that because we haven't got it here where I live,I will be using it for precise work on building cupboards .
Another great vid! Always assumed those pencils were a bit of a gimmick but looked super accurate (maybe it’s cos you were using it not me🤣) would definitely come in handy making a toy chest for my little boy 👍
Excellent Neat work and it clearly shows why New builds are so poor. I am sure a plumber fitted the doors in my house. When I asked why they either swung open or swung shut I was told that the doors and frames were put in by eye and not by using a spirit level :(
Hi. I use a winbag or airbag wedge to lift the door and fit into the opening. I then mark the hinges on the frame and remove the door to chisel out the material required.
@@yaseenkhaliq Yes, closed door. You can then mark the edges of the hinge and use a square and marking gauge to mark fully once you've moved the door out of the opening. Use 3mm spacers and plane any excess material. Best to go a little at a time with this.
Good video but as a joiner for over 35 years I would never chisel along the grain always across down to the 2mm line you marked on as if the grain runs on the timber you’ll end up going too deep
i am looking for a turorial with lesser gadget use...i am not investing on those effing tools just to install 1 door....sheesh...even the pencil to use needs to be specific carpenetry pencil..lolol
I love your videos. As a woman on my own I have lots of repairs to do in my house and your videos have helped a great deal. Thankyou
Glad to help!

I am fitting a couple of doors for a friend shortly and the tracer pencil would come in very handy indeed and an addition to my tool kit.

Thanks, glad you found it useful. I also like the clip as like you I lose so many pencils!
Highest complements on this instructional video. Your steps are helping me to prevent problems I have encountered in the past. Thank you.
That’s great, thanks
Easiest person to follow with and a great attention to detail while being explained very well and to the point . Good job
Glad you like the channel
why is every video ending by putting the hinge only on the door. I want to see the method for making it align to the frame and shut properly
Sorry it didn't help you on this occasion.
Me too!
Still a very helpful video BTW. But I'm trying to find a part two to help match up the frame
Thank you for making this video. It was clear and your instructions are easy to follow. I have suddenly found myself alone and have not learned skills like this because my husband always did it. Your video has been very helpful! 👍👍
Really helpful. Thanks loads. Clearest video I've found on this. Can you make a video on how to fit the door side of the hinge on a new frame?
Moving house in March and have already started expanding my toolbox. That pencil would be of massive use over the usual school like ones 👍🏻
Good luck with the house move.

Thanks! You'll smash it I'm sure.
please can you tell me what size screws you used to fix a 100mm hinge to a fire door 2040x726x44 and what size for a normal door 2040x 726x40
How about the frame? What measurements and clearances?
Thanks mate, love your videos!
Glad you like them!
I never knew about self-centring drill bits until I saw your vid. They look to be far more accurate than marking out and drilling holes free hand
They are very useful 👍
Brilliant tuition
Thanks 👍
Really helpful videos you make very professional keep them coming look forward to the next one 👍
Thanks, glad you find them useful
Hi chap, great video, I want the pencil to mark lines with lol, next project is a mid sleeper bed for my son, thanks
Hi, thanks for the comment. Sounds like a good little project.
@@TheDIYGuy1 thanks, moved into a new build so I have aot of projects ongoing, your videos are helping me along the way, thank you

Hey buddy how’s the other side of the hinge go on the frame same way you did this on the door ??? Ty lol
What gauge is that? The link is for an older style wooden one 👍
Bhai cleaning kit kitny ki dety ho wesy
Superb teacher
Thanks a lot
Can you provide me with a new link to the same marking gauge used in the video please.
Nice video. Great content
Thanks a lot!

Another great vid! Always assumed those pencils were a bit of a gimmick but looked super accurate (maybe it’s cos you were using it not me🤣) would definitely come in handy making a toy chest for my little boy 👍
Thanks for your comments. It's actually accurate because it has a built in sharpener so always stays perfectly pointy :)

Hi
How do you mark new hinges on the door frame
Hi. I use a winbag or airbag wedge to lift the door and fit into the opening. I then mark the hinges on the frame and remove the door to chisel out the material required.
@@TheDIYGuy1 thanks you very much I. Guessing your going this when closed.
Any tips for getting the 3mm spacing correct ?
@@yaseenkhaliq Yes, closed door. You can then mark the edges of the hinge and use a square and marking gauge to mark fully once you've moved the door out of the opening.

Good video but as a joiner for over 35 years I would never chisel along the grain always across down to the 2mm line you marked on as if the grain runs on the timber you’ll end up going too deep
Exactly, just remove the waste from the front edge and use the flat edge of the chisel, much easier to control the depth of cut.
I just wanna see the gap between door and frame
Should redo this vid when the hinge sits over a knot on the door
Palm router 🤔👍
👍
