I just recently got a 4k Fuego,3k 2021 Nasci and next is this reel. Just a way cheaper Stradic FL or FK,that doesn't look as good lol. Thank you for the review. Also, from what I was told by a few local tackle stores is that Shimano has a patent on the lip technology of their new long stroke spools. Which is crazy.
I think it’s more of an inshore reel. These smaller body reels. The ultegra, stradic fl, twin power FD , Stella Fk, vanford, all inshore reels. Smaller line capacity. Their SW lines are more geared towards heavy surf. The twin power XG, spheros SW, twin power SW, socorro sw, bait runner 12000d, Stella SW, stradic SW, saragosa SW. esp if your targeting species off the surf because one day you will encounter that wildly large fish off the surf, so having the extra line capacity is key. In no way am I doubting the ultegra for what you want it to do, i have personally seen vanford 5000s getting smoked in the surf. The ocean is a very unforgiving place when it comes to corrosion and sand. I think this reel would shine bright for large freshwater bass an small schoolie striped bass. If your gona go bigger. Jump to the spheros SW or stradic SW or saragosa SW. I also love diawas SAltist MQ line of reels. BGMQ Is also a great reel.
Great stuff. I was looking for a cheaper reel to fish from rocks where I have to hike down to the spot a long way down. Obviously it's easy to damage it while fishing in such conditions. I am always worried when taking down the hike an expensive reel. This one if I damage it, it still would be a loss but much less so than if it happened to my Stella. Many thanks for the review.
If you want a very similar reel with larger line capacity you should look at the Ultegra C5000. It has a 4000 body but a 5000 spool, which is deeper and can hold more line (that's what the C stand for, "compact" which means it has the same spool but smaller body). The C5000 also had a ball handle, which you said you prefer.
yes correct mate...at the time i was purchasing this reel..it was next to impossible to find the 5000 size in stock anywhere. 5K size was my first choice..
I ordered the c5000xg and It arrived yesterday. I prefer lighter reels for my inshore fishing, this one sits at 285g. The handle itself is 55g!. I realised that I can swap handles with my Vanford and now it is 255g 😂
I choose Shimano over Daiwa because their reels are super smooth and technologically more advanced. I never experienced a wind knots fishing with shimano. For me their spool technology made the choice easy. "Shimano ARC Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. ARC spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid." That's it, game over for the competition in my wallet.
@thebattousai Mmmm that's a tough one mate.. Tarps run hard and we don't get tarpon that big here..we have only the smaller Indo Pacific tarpon which only get to like 2 feet in length max...so I couldn't tell you for sure..
Hey, great video. Thank you. Today I got Ultegra C3000HG (2021 version). Is it normal for this reel that I feel micro bump somewhere in the reels rotation mechanics at the rate every 2nd time it travels a circle? Meaning, that when I spin the handle so fast that it starts to make a couple circles on its own, I feel little bumps in my other hand that is holding the reel while the it is spinning. Or is that a reels defect and I should replace it with another Ultegra reel? Hope for your reply, cheers.
Hi, I have not used the new Fuego LT..so would not be able to accurately compare. If comparing older Fuego LT vs. Ultegra..it would definitely be the Ultegra.
@@AnglingAddictssrilanka Do you mean "High Gear?" Which means that the reel has a high gear ratio? So, FC simply represents the series of reel that the Ultegra reels belong to? Such as the Shimano Complex CI4 and the Shimano Ultegra XTC CI4+ Surf Spinning Reel? But what does that got to do with the ULT2500HGFC reel? I don't see the "CI4" label being used on the ULT2500HGFC's name.
Hi mate, Ci4 is Shimano's proprietary carbon infused Graphite material(lighter in weight). they make various reels with Ci4 parts/components and any reel that has Ci4 parts will have "Ci4" mentioned along with the model. There are a few different Ultegra models. Ultegra XTC Ci4 is a surf fishing reel which has Ci4 components. You also get different Ultegra carp reel models. Ultegra FC is an all-metal reel and is intended as a fresh water/inshore/near shore fishing reel. "Ultegra" is the reel model (This models is just simply called ULTEGRA). "FC" is the series. this is 3rd generation Ultegra now..its started with FA...FB..and now FC..next model will be FD. All Shimano reels usually come with 3 gear ratio choices(the cheaper reels in Shimano's line up do not offer a gear ratio choice usually). this is the rate at which the line is retrieved per turn of the handle. PG(low gear)/HG(high gear)/XG(extra high gear). So Ultegra FC 2500HG means that's its the Ultegra FC model in 2500 size and high gear ratio. hope it's a little clear now...
@@AnglingAddictssrilanka thank you for your reply. If anyone is after a good saltwater big caster with all bells and whistles - try shimano’s xsc 14000 - you get line reducers included so you don’t need to fill the spools. Spectacular reels for both carp and sea. Cheers.
Hello, i am assuming you are referring to the newer Spheros models.. if comparing Ultergra to the Spheros Sw-inshore, then Ulterga wins hands down (more features) . You cant compare the 2021 Spheros SWA to the Ultegra..the SWA is meant for off-shore use. i purchased this specifically for inshore use..so for that purpose i will still choose the Ultegra over any Spheros. hope this info was helpful....
