this was very useful and helpful , my coaches train me all of these counters for these types of opponents and one of the counters (that isn't shown in the video) is when someone puts their leg up, we push our selves in into their leg and we can score a kick to the body , a naeryo chagi , a punch or a dwi huryo chagi.
My tip to you all in any sparring situation is to always keep a perfect distance. Make sure you aren't too close and not to far. It should be that when they pull that front leg they won't reach you and will be forced to put the leg down. Go in for the punch + clinch + An Chagi (in hook). Or simply counter it with a back roundhouse kick by just swinging it. The roundhouse kick doesn't always work because they can counter with a spinning push kick (dwitchagi) and that's when you are done.
Thank you for putting out standard TKD-Sport Drill work. It's nice to see more TKD-Sport Drill Work out in this kind of format. I believe once people understand what Drills TKD-Sport uses for skills improvement they will later better understand TKD in total. Good Stuff. Keep It Up. Thank You. #5thDanTKD
Honestly it's crazy to see the simplicity and that it works against BLACK BELTS! That's so awesome. Sometimes we tend to make sparring and point-fighting extremely complex but it really is just having a few tools and an understanding of the game! Thanks for your content!
Yo people..these are some tips. Not intended to be the only thing you do or know.. if your going to nationals you may be beyond these "tips". GOOD FOR YOU. however, as you can see many of us can benefit from her tips. Alex thanks for taking time out of your day to help us (your extended TKD family at large).
A lot of these tips seem to be based on the other person standing there and only using one leg. The first tip won't work if they're patient. The second tip won't work if they do a jump kick or double kick with the rear leg as soon as you move to the side. The third kick is a basic follow-through, but the idea that their whole side is open is based on them standing there after the kick.
My sparring partner is a front leg kicker, and this video helped me out alot about how to counter it. Thank you so much. I subscribed because you are really great at this and your tips videos always help me. :)
If you hadn't known, now you know. Maybe you knew, but you forgot you knew, and now you remember. On the other hand, you knew, you know that you know, now you will endeavour to use that the next time you spar. Perhaps none of these were true, and you only lost 2.5 mins...

I'm very late but this video was very helpful, I love how you put clips of you using the techniques in comp sparring to prove it works, will be trying these out lol
Thank you so much! One instructor in particular uses his front leg all the time and as a back leg dominant student, it's difficult getting around that. I'll definitely use this in sparring!
Contrary to popular belief, there is... You just can't watch the Olympics. Even WTF fighters that often get bashed enjoy sparring with unbelievable speed and power. The Olympians can, but at the Olympics don't, because they aren't sparring to show off or for fun. They are sparring to win, and unfortunately, power wouldn't get them the gold.
i'm a white belt tkd, i trained twice a week for 3 weeks and i beat a red belt tkd and it's all because i got a lots of tips from your video thanks alex ( btw its 5-0)
differents martial art, differents rules, u can't compare each other because tkd wtf is totally different to what muay thai is. For the other hand, the real tkd is ITF
Try baiting them into pulling up the front leg and as soon as they are on the way on setting down just run them over with anything. Usually works. Going into a clinch with a punch works great
Thank you very much for the great videos. I especially like how you use movement. Too often, I see fighters using a "rice paddy" style for sparring. They only use forward and backward movement. Thank you.
Hello Alex... great video again ! Surely it can help in my sparring at gym. I am now yellow belt and I need this videos to get better skills :-) Thanks ! RUBEN (Spain)
thanks for the video. can you upload a video how defeat a tall guy in sparring? how get in and get out to make a point or just how make him react to a distraction for have a clear hit. thanks a lot!! :)
Most people use a front kick to combo, so they will usually kick you first. So, you should test the waters, bait a combo, then go for a kick to the body to head.
When they raise the front leg I like to raise mine under theirs and push their leg up with mine. This can throw them off balance and open up scoring opportunities, or downright makes them fall.
pleease make a video on how to be a front leg fighter. i want to develop a style like mayweather do in boxing like very defensive that no one can hit him. but also beig offensive at the same time
You can jam the kick. Or if it’s a roundhouse you can go in. Refs don’t call kicks with the shin in TKD and the closer you are to the base of the leg the less powerful.
I’m just warning everybody, I’m a 2nd dan and I’ve fought all across Europe at G1 tournaments for 4/5 years now. I’m 15 and even at my age as a junior these stuff DO NOT work at a high level competition such as a G1!! Happy training guys and enjoy the best sport in the world 🤗🤗
oh got it thanks. A lot of people had been doing that at my school and I was wondering if the same thing happens in tournaments. btw awesome dedication to answering people's comments. I've never seen any person this dedicated to answering youtube comments .
This was super helpful, especially showing the real fights where you used it. Great video!
Glad you liked it! Thanks! :)

What's the result?
No punching to the head? Are leg kicks more important than punches?
I know this wont really work a lot in nationals but here it might in my age category. So thanks for the tips.
Thanks for watching!
Extraordinary! Your kicks are quite fast and fierce! And this advice defiantly help me so well!😄

Great video Alex! I love you alot! keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
The first tip my master had already told me because im one of the faster (fastets you could say) in my sparring team
@alexwong, what are you wearing on your feet?
Mawisky it's protection. Coverings toes just like your gloves.
I believe it's a dae do product
I wouldn't recommend them since you can still get injured really easy if some dickhead pulls up a knee in the fight
thank you for your answer and input :)
now ik when to use my spinning kicks
the sparring partner was not blocking what so ever
Thnku soo much .......Plsz keep uploading ur videos......

King Jihoon swipe the leg with your front hand and throw a punch to the body with your other hand at the same time .
Aaron Yan ohhhh thx btw I’m now green
When we are sparring my friend always use his front leg to gut kick how to beat that?
Try to inch out or angling away from the kick and then you could do a head counter
You can jam the kick. Or if it’s a roundhouse you can go in. Refs don’t call kicks with the shin in TKD and the closer you are to the base of the leg the less powerful.
@@timothymorton9523 really good advice!
Old school moves.. ❤❤ it works for sure modern tkd is a bit boring

My cure: BE A FRONT LEGGED SPARRER...
Your tips are awesome
You should go against jessie bates
How do you counter a rear leg fighter?
Well you found a second degree black belts weakness
Do you have any tips for when a opponent keeps their leg up and chambered during sparring?
If they are holding a chambered kick up it's illegal to do it for more than 3 secs according to the new sparring rules.
oh got it thanks. A lot of people had been doing that at my school and I was wondering if the same thing happens in tournaments. btw awesome dedication to answering people's comments. I've never seen any person this dedicated to answering youtube comments .
