The Packers of the year before beat the 49ers at Candlestick then sadly the next year the Packers reverted back to their losing ways. They had close games they couldn't win and it was a huge disappointment. Then in 91 Packers really bottomed out until 92 when Mike Holmgren and a certain backup QB would come in.
Why are there never 2 running backs in the backfield on offense now like they always did years ago on every offensive play? I know it's a passing league now but so what. Why did they take the second running back away now?
They started using a single back and line up the other back in the slot. What you are referring to is having a halfback and a fullback. Now they are just called running backs.

He had a strong leg but man he was unreliable. Not only that but he missed numerous extra points throughout his career which were much closer in distance when he was playing.
I had to see and hear the best broadcast team in NFL history again, my opinion.
That shot of Rice, looking behind him for the two GB defenders is iconic.
Montana 🐐
To Me Joe Montana got the best footwork of any quarterback in NFL history!!!
or joe willy
ball placement also
@@TheWakeup011 agreed
@benashworth687 that's a fair assessment, Broadway Joe is from Western PA too just like Dan Marino
The real TV home of the NFC, CBS.
I certainly had no problem when it was allowed in the past few yrs to do nfc playoff games like old times

They actually had a winning record at the start of December: 6-5 before losing out
Despite ‘89 loss I still can’t believe as a chi fan that sf allowed gb to hang in this one
I wasn't born yet but the CBS broadcast is Dope
The last matchup between these two teams until the 1995 NFC Divisional Playoff game.
Jerry Rice=NFL WR GOAT! 🏈
WOW, this Jerry Rice guy is pretty fast 2:06:20
Sf turned the risk/reward relationship on its head w/ its approach and quality talent
The narrative that he was slow comes from people that didn’t actually watch him play.
Almost on exact replay of the NFC championship game in 88.
And that's why there's a difference between how fast you are and how fast you are playing football. It's called football speed.
This was before my time but they tell me don majikowski was nice up there in Green Bay before favre got there 💯
The 49ers would not defeat the Packers on the road again until 2012.
Kaepernick, who was born in WI.

Thanks for the game. By any chance, do you have 1989 49ers at Eagles?
That is a good one.... i would love to see that game too! ❤

Nothing sad about being beaten by a better opponent. The 80s and 90s were the golden era of professional football

I still don't know how that team lost to the Giants ... I know HOW but this team was too good to lose.
Chuck Cecil would rip ya...lol 🪓
Niners couldn’t buy a block in this game for running the ball.
The 49ers would not win again at Lambeau Field until Week 1 of the 2012 season.
Cofer was a horrible kicker
