Hi, guys. If you like this video or something you don't like in the video. Please leave a comment down below. I really need your feedback to improve my future videos, thank you.
Alex, this was a great step by step video. I have just started my 3D printing with the intent of designing and making my own lures. This video, so far, was the best one displaying what is needed to make a lure, how to do the weights, rattles, and hooks. Well done.
Thank you very much. Because somebody said it's little bit to long..so I was little bit worried about it. I want to show the people don't have the knowledge of lure making, they actually can make it, too.
@@3DPrintedAngler No I think you did a fine job of speeding things up when they needed to be and slowing down to explain yourself. You may try to use bookmarks to allow people to quickly move through the steps. But I watched the whole video without skipping around! Also, I came here from one of the fishing subreddits. It is escaping me which one exactly, but that is were I found your videos. You might try posting to r/functionalprint to gain some subs.

I enjoyed the video ,thank you.I printed three,I am going to paint them and give them a test. Any chance of you showing us step by step how it was designed in the 3d program.
Hi, thank you very much. Glad you like it. About step by step design using 3d software. There are many videos available on RUclips you can watch. Just search on RUclips you can find many of them.
Good job Alex, very instructive and informative video! been thinking about to make my own lure! 3d printing seems a very legit choice for me. Keep the good work!
Thank you. Yes, the shape of the lure looks like some big companies' products. Well, but you know that no matter what company or whatever handmade lures they all got similar shape. No matter what type of lures you always can find similar products from other company, isn't it? Lol, in fact I did learn from Tsunami's lure, but as you can tell it is totally different stuff from any other big companies', isn't it? Thank you!
That was a great video, thank you! Have you considered running a wire all the way through? Is it robust enough to withstand a 40 inch plus Redfish caught around the rock jetties? I'm curious. Thanks again!
Hi, thank you that you like my video. Well, there are a few reasons I didn't design it with through wire. 1. It is strong enough, because all the the hook eyes are inserted and locked inside the lure not like other wooden lures hook eyes are just glued inside. 2. With this design weights can put inside lure much more easily. 3. Again it is strong enough because you have your drag system on your reel. If your reel's drag is 20 lb the maximum force your line and lure will take is 20 lb. If drag is 30 lb then maximum will be 30 lb and so on. I don't think for most surf fishing you will need more than 30 lb of drag. I usually use 40-50 lb test braid line for my surf fishing. So far the only things that cause me losing fish are either fishing line broken or hook bant. The lure itself didn't have any problem so far. Yes, if in the future the lure itself breaks then I will redesign it with through wire. Not sure if I explained clearly or not. Hope you can understand. Again, thank you for leaving this comment.😊
@@Sn-tk8rq go ahead and get one 3d printers are so affordable right now. It's very fun to make things with it. And it's very rewarding when you catch fish on your own lure.
I’m not sure what you use bro! But I know 304 SS wire have 2 type. The Soft and Hard one. Maybe, the thin wire ? So you look to much easy to bending that wire 😂😂😂😂 Coz, I use between 2.0mm or 1.5mm to my popper 🤣
hey! nice project :) i'm going to make it but i want to use fishing weights instead of steel balls. Can you tell me please how much each of the 7/16 balls weights?
If you are sure the ball size is 7/16. Then make sure you didn't scale down the 3D model size. If the ball size is 7/16 and you printed out the lure with it's original size. the ball should fit the hole.😀
Is this cost effective? How much did the 3D printed lure come out to? (With filament, split rings, hooks, ss wire, 2 part expoxy, glitter, ect factored in) Besides being able to customize a lure base on preference I'm wondering if it's just cheaper to buy a manufactured top water lure. Good video looking forward to watching more.
If you don't count the time you spend on it, yes it is cost effective because the materials are not expensive. I did some calculation that the total cost of each lure is less than $3, two high quality hooks cost arond $1 and others will cost around less than $2. Yes, you have to spend time on them but lure making process can bring you fun and joy, and catching fish on the lure you made yourself really brings you accomplishment and triples the fun of fishing. Not sure about you but to me making my onw lure and catching fish on it really makes me feel I proud of myself. Hope you like my answer. ^_^
Thank you for doing the calculations I really appreciate it. I am very interested in trying this out myself. I agree making your own lure and catching fish with it can be exciting and extremely rewarding. Another question if you don't mind, is how heavy is the top water lure (grams/ounces)? Does it sink or float? Sorry for all the questions. Really interested, Thank you
@@RSDream77 The lure I made in the video is about 7'' long and weights 2.8oz, it is a topwater popper so of course it floats. I have a smaller and lighter version of this lure around 5'' long maybe I will make a video about it in the future.
Great thank you for the quick replies. I have some poppers that are slow sinking and when retrieved it will rush to the surface. Some fisherman will actually fill floating poppers with BBs or oil to make them sink for different lure actions. There are many types of topwater lures all for different purposes. Would be great to see the 5" smaller and lighter version video in future. Maybe videos showing the action of the 3D lures? Looking forward to more content, keep it up!
