    Whoa. This is a frequent battle for me. That horrible feeling of failure is so overwhelming and painful that I often procrastinate doing the thing I love doing! I beat myself up for being so stupid and I should know how to do this by now. (Welcome to my world... :P) I feel like I'll never get better or that I've lost all my drawing/painting abilities. Now that I recognize this familiar pattern, I just give myself a pep talk and push through it. Also I remind myself to lighten up LOL. When the storm blows over, I try again.
    Nice bunny!

      Thank you for the wisdom shared in this video! (only footnote I have, check out Mozart's history, he wrote his first piece at the age of 5, at the age of 14 he transcribed, a, once closely guarded piece, only to be performed during Easter, after hearing it once.)

Your advices or your drawings I dont know why but it always makes so much sense to me.. I started drawing watching your videos and I am no good at it but I still try amd this particular video really made me realize the fact that if I keep on working it will eventually get better! Thanks a lot

    Great overall message. More artists and people alike need to hear this. The important part is the process and learning from that to get better, but to keep at the process and not give up at it along the way.

    I found your channel like half an hour ago. After watching one video, I came to you channel and saw this video. And wow, this helped me calm down so much. I hate drawing, but the way you've explained everything about perfectionism and in that beginner's sketching video, I feel like I can do it do, and that even if it's not perfect, it's a good try. This video helped me to an extent I cannot express, I have this problem of doing things either perfectly or abandoning completely, and this helped me understand that it's okay. A lot of people have told me that, but this just hit home. Your voice is soothing and calming. For a second, I was like wait is this my therapist? But such a calming video, it legit helped with my constant anxiety. Thank you for existing and being the best motivational human ever.
    P.S. Why does this video has so less views :/

    If you're depressed, just don't be depressed! It's that simple.
    In this video, there's nothing that helps a person to deal with the fear of failure. It's often not logical, we know we suck in the beginning, we know we have to practise in order to get better, we know that popular artists weren''t born this way with some kind of magical pen or talent. But the feeling still persists, it's like a crippling forcefield that holds you back doing anything.

    • @SchaeferArt
      @SchaeferArt  2 года назад

      If it didn't help, then just move on. A video won't help 100% of people.

    • @ZTRCTGuy
      @ZTRCTGuy 2 года назад

      @@SchaeferArt Well, fair enough. But this problem is with a lot of drawing RUclipsrs. I want you to understand that this is a deeper rooted problem than some people might know. Fear of failure is called Atychiphobia, which contains the word phobia meaning an irrational fear.
      Therefore, the logical reasoning you do in your video. which is valid, obviously, will be at best.... ineffective.

    • @SchaeferArt
      @SchaeferArt  2 года назад +1

      @@ZTRCTGuy I can only share my experiences and how I've personally overcome fears and challenges. It's up to the individual to dive deeper and do what they can to overcome it themselves (or find professional help). For me, the fear of regret of not trying (and looking back at my life when I'm older), is more scary than simple creating a bad drawing or painting and "failing". I can always try again or create something new. I can't go back in time.
      I'm just an artist who makes videos, not a therapist or psychologist. If you have some deep-rooted issue, a drawing youtuber is not going to solve it. I hope you will find a solution to your irrational fear.

    It's not just art in any field.. the fear is because the way we are brought up to be perfect.. then we compare our first attempt with where we would like to be in 2 years time..

    • @SchaeferArt

      You know what? Most likely not. You would look as critcal at your own work as you (probably) do now. You would find artists who are "better" than you, compare your work unfavorable to theirs, and say the same kind of things, putting yourself down....but don't look as much at that cute bunny, listen to what Schaefer says, he raises good points.
