I never owned an Xbox and I probably never will cause it just doesnt make sense for me.
But if Halo, Fable and etc, como to playstation, im buying them day 1.
A friend of mine used to have an xbox and I would go to his house and play halo, cause I had the PS2. We pulled all-nighters doing the campaigns and shit. I'll gladly pay for that piece of nostalgia.
Im still at a loss for words for how much meat riding was done for these acquisitions. Even though history has told us 2 very important things. 1. Consolidation is has never been a good thing in any industry 2. Xbox can't manage their studios for shit

It sounds like Microsoft shut down these Studios because they told Microsoft that they wanted to make Single Player games and Microsoft still refuses to admit that Online Multiplayer Live Service Games suck.
Yeah, I had a feeling, and Xbox fans were calling me a troll for even suggesting this when it was obvious from the start. More closures and cuts are coming.
I think it was Shawn Laden that about two years said Game Pass would need at least 500 million subscribers for it to be a sustainable platform for higher budget AAA gaming, and we are now seeing how true that was.
HiFi Rush had around 4 million downloads on Game Pass, wasn’t even a super high budget game, and was still considered a financial disaster. They gave people very little reason to buy the game due to Game Pass, and yet you’ve still got these awkward Xbox fans going around celebrating Game Pass. Game Pass is part of the reason these studios got shut down at the end of the day.
My guess is the reason Hellblade 2 has had zero marketing is because Ninja Theory is next. In Microsoft’s mind, why waste money on marketing for a studio they’re planning to shut down?
If Sony owned Ninja Theory, they’d have billboards set up around cities for it, just like they had for Spider-Man 2, GOW Ragnarok, Horizon, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

MS have openly said that their studios need to be able to financially stand on their own.
So my guess is after hiring 100 new team members and the cost of development over 8yrs. They just don't have the capital for marketing and will use reviews as their main source of marketing.

I've stopped using game pass a year ago and recently spent £1000 on games for my new PS5 slim and 4K 60fps capable 65" QLED TV

Gamepass was never meant to be the big money maker. Xbox was loosing terribly so they tried to get people in with an extreme deal and it didnt work and just made them loose money on the people already in their ecosystem
Now they've fostered a user base that doesn't buy games, they can't sell anything on their platform anymore & they can't abandon GP because then they risk losing that user base.

As a PC gamer, Game pass never worked for me. You get only a base game, and need to buy add-ons. Why on earth would anyone buy add-ons for a game they do not own? If they had a higher tiered price where you get the game and all the extras, that would appeal to me more at a fair price. As for buying games, I prefer Steam.
Y'know, Xbox in its current sorta reminds me of how Sega was declining during its days as a console manufacturer, except even worse.

Initial GP price was fine then they added EA and the price increased. They should separate those publishers pricing, I ain't paying anything to EA, don't lump all the price together. Looking forward to Steam summer sale.

I stopped subscribing to game pass about a year ago.
As a long time Xbox Fan they really are venomous. Ithey gaslight you by fixing their mistakes and portray it as an accomplishment. One of my favorite games, Killer Instinct literally needed to be crowd funded for more characters and seasons. But because it wasn’t making gangbusters they axed it. They truly don’t understand what it means to plant a seed. They seem to chop it down as firewood before it produces any fruit because, time is money
The mismanagement at Xbox is insane and this has been going on for over a decade. I now fear that Ninja Theory is going to be culled when Hellblade II fails to sell enough. Xbox needs new leadership especially since it now seems like MS are calling the shots.

Xbox is a joke. I have an Xbox Series X, but I regret it.
It’s boggled my mind that even as a consumer that feels like I’m getting a steel with Game Pass, knows that their model can’t be profitable. You don’t put AAA games that cost millions in development on a subscription service day one. Oh well, I’ve saved a ton of money, and played lots of games through Game Pass and will ride this until it crashes or they raise their rates beyond what it’s worth.

They had one job and that was to make great games. MS has been had IP people want and not delivered anything. I mean, they launched the Series consoles with 0 new games. Their priorities for a decade have been everything else but great games. Focusing on cloud, HoloLens, Microsoft games store, PC etc. and none of that has worked, while their devs sit around, do cartwheels in their hallways and make honey, instead of great games. They bought studios in 2018 and they’ve produced nothing to date. Hellblade 2 is coming out in a couple weeks and there’s no marketing and nobody has played it with new footage to show for it. They are a joke, and like you said, they’re bringing the industry down with them

I’m still shocked after this confirmation. I was always a PlayStation fan but I also like to try out other consoles. I got the Xbox series x when it came out (my first Xbox console) and after all these acquisitions Microsoft has made, I was so excited. But closing studios was a letdown for me, and bringing their exclusive to PlayStation, really?? So what’s the point of owning a Xbox anymore?

No there’s nothing wrong with Sony putting their games on PC. The PS4 sold close to 120 million units, yet only 20 million some people bought Sony’s first party games. That means close to 100 million PS owners did not support PS first party games. That’s the reason Sony is putting their games PC, and I can’t blame them

Xbox always has done this. Anytime it seems like they could get an upper hand or arguably did get the upper hand in the past, they ALWAYS royally screw it up. I am a Sony pony, but let me be clear, Sony did not beat Xbox. Xbox beat Xbox. And even as a Sony pony, that greatly saddens me. It was an EPIC tale of Sony and Xbox. And though we battled, the rivalry was one of the things that made this past 20 years so great!
Understand, this is bad for everyone. Not only because it is the end of an era, but because Xbox made Sony strive to be the best Sony could be. It will never be the same without Xbox.
Nintendo is not a direct competitor. Sony are apples and they are oranges. Nintendo target a more kiddie and mobile experience. Xbox and Sony were fighting for the same market share. Without that fight and competition, I am afraid we will be left with just one bad apple... Sony.

Not necessarily winning, but nonetheless thriving. Sony didn't come along and just destroy Xbox with better prices or innovation. Sony just made less senseless stupid decisions.
There were moments where the two went back and forth in innovation and there were times that Xbox led, but in the end neither beat the other.
If it were a big city marathon race, Sony stayed the course. Sometimes Xbox had the upper hand, but Xbox was constantly deciding to jump in manholes for no good reason and visit the shops along the way. Sony didn't beat Xbox. Xbox beat Xbox.

Guess I’m in the minority because I love Gamepass, and it has lead to to purchase games that I invested time into once they were about to leave the service and got a discount. Inevitably it will become the preferred model like Netflix and Spotify, they just have to hang in there
Its not profitable for these companies especially HD games which have higher cost and long development time to make.
No ones ever argues gamepss isn’t good for those using it, but it’s killing the studios who put their games in it.
Gamepass is good for you regardless of it making money or not.
Gamepass success only helps MS, it does nothing for the studios who out their games in it, especially not for those who put their games in it day and date.

First thing, Microsoft has not been lying so I’ll stop telling lies yourself second thing the game companies that they did shut down did not wanna work on certain games anymore. They only wanted to work on their own projects and there was no plans for a second hi-fi rush they were only going to make one of them. They said that in an interview before They open. World games which nobody wants these days live service stuff that’s the bad thing. Microsoft, and the Xbox fan base lied about how successful Game Pass was. If Game Pass was so successful, why would Microsoft be shutting down studios that shipped highly rated games like Hi-Fi Rush? Microsoft is the richest company in the world, so the only logical reasoning for them shutting down studios, is the studios we’re not bringing in enough money for Microsoft to keep them in operation. The reason this is such a bad look, is because Microsoft was supposed to save the gaming industry according to the Xbox community. Now Microsoft is shutting down studios, and only focusing on blockbuster games that generate a lot of money, much like Sony does. There are likely more layoffs, and studio closures coming, because I heard Perfect Dark has been in development hell since it was announced in 2020.

I sold my series S when I built my gaming PC, now I'm considering selling my Series X, I haven't touched it in almost a year. I bought it for halo as I've been playing since OG Halo days and the franchise went downhill since 343 took over. Campaign for infinite was so boring and repetitive I stopped after one of the brute bosses ( forgot his name). Online isn't for casual players, the matchmaking sucks in most games especially for casuals
It's good for all becoz their Windows COMPANY is already OVERCHARGING the whole World on the Microsoft Office! Greedy Companies should go down!
