Salam is done for any grave yard... So, it is normal to give salam to Rasul graveyard, that could be passing by his graveyard or from outside the mosque. It makes no difference InshaAllah but knowing u r close to his RS graveyard may make you feel better.
@@Mahmudkhan00 the Sahabah never did it neither did the Tasbieen you can give salam from anywhere specifically coming to a specific place to do so and telling others to do so while neither did the Sahabah or Tasbieen do this this is an innovation

While it is permissible to send Salam (greetings) to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), there is no evidence to suggest that making dua in the Rawdah holds more value or is more likely to be heard than at any other place.
