The entire CM staff needs a review. A lot of things went wrong that need to be learned from here.
This. So many CM and Mods have made it very clear on and off the Helldivers 2 discord that they hate the community and gamers in general.
One got axed, that’s a start I’m there is corporate oversight and paperwork/trail that needs to be done
Honestly, I am a little less angry about Spitz and even Bask now that I know it all came from the person named "Misty" on twitter.

A lot of the moderators and CMs have caused a lot of unnecessary drama w/ community. think arrowhead should rly look at who they have in charge of discord.
Someone suggested retraining Spitz. I think there should be training involved with this in general.
I'd say the one who falsely accused someone of SA is the one that needs firing. The others handled terribly and definitely need retraining. The one who falsely accused deserves nothing but to get sued.
Arrowhead just need to put someone who is not LGBTQ oriented and it will be fine.

@Baskinator Is it true that you're gonna enforce PSN linking later down the line because there are some issues currently? If true, you know that this will be next the big shitstorm right? Especially because it's now apparent that it would be artificial, is clearly not needed and proof that your overlords just want data. But I'd also assume you got no choice. But maybe you should warn the Steam playerbase in advance and be very clear and concise about it.

Im actually really greatful that Spitz told us to "refund and leave negative review". I feel like the really kicked the whole backlash into overdrive.

Ignoring negative comments is a skill - a type of discipline. Not every comment merits a response. People in positions who engage with the public must have this skill.
And even if you dont ignore them, going ballistic at already angry people can only make them even madder than they already were.

It's debatable if Spitz needed to be removed (not that it matters now anymore), but the actual problem is that it for sure was for the wrong reasons.
I called he'd be canned the moment he recommended refunding - Insane Industry-No-No - But that is not why many out of the community wanted him gone.
I spend a lot of time online, and have been in the discord since I started playing helldivers. There is a certain behavior of people who are "chronically online", they are rude, sparky, aggressive and abrasive in their words. I think, unfortunately, that he was a wolf in sheeps clothing the whole time.
He had been pretty shitty several times in the discord, but almost always to the Helldiver naysayers. So naturally the community hyped him up for it. I think he got comfy speaking to people like that, and when the community was actively against him, well, he was exposed for who he actually is. Unfortunate, but warranted.
More credit to twinbeard as the cm to have maintained full composure through it all

I don't think Spitz deserved to be fired *for this*. But I do believe he needed to be gone.
Then again, I think others need to be gone way more, and the fact that they aren't is troubling.
Dont give a CM posting to any nimrod that has a communications degree.
A community manager should have 3 aspects. 1) general passion for the project. 2) Patience to listen and hear people out. 3) overall even temperment of leading with customers first.
I'd argue that a better CM would be more detached emotionally from the project. It's that passion that gets them in trouble when people start making ugly comments.
I would have called for his head on Friday, but by Sunday he had shown that he was 1) human, and 2) made mistakes. Further, he took the massive risk to tell us how we should respond, knowing it would likely cost his job... Spitz did not desrve to be let go, but I understand that was probably a Sony call. A few weeks off with no pay would have been sufficent for Sptiz. He clearly cared about the community, even if he let the commnets get under his skin (as any human would likely do).
There are, however, other CMs that do need a good public axing by the CEO .

Yeah the Eruptor on its release was so good, it was kinda like the Arc Thrower in that it could very easily kill your friends, but just as easily kill the enemy, there were a few times where I got 13 kills with 1 bullet and it felt sooooo good when you managed to get those huge multi-kills with it

They hit the one who was talking on our behalf. Not the one who was toxic against community member, raged all the time and spat out false allegations.

Twin beard is the only actual CM seeming to care and do his job.
Expert Extraction Pilot is fantastic on Blitz-type missions where just calling in the extraction takes over 15% of the mission time (30% with Complex Stratagem Plotting).
What we believe on the firing doesn't actually matter. I would place bets that this was a requirement by Sony, or they pulled the game (which they could do). He cost them untold negative press and bad feelings, as well as all sorts of potential legal trouble. I doubt Arrowhead made the decision... I would put money it was made for them.

@@Vanguard_Spartan_00762 The problem here is we don't know the entire story. As someone who runs public facing/interfacing teams, you can't let 0.1% problems prevent a good performer from continuing. If you do, your team will forever work scared and produce poorly. Again, I don't know the whole of it (no one does, likely including those involved). I will forever be convinced their hand was forced, even if it's only head-cannon.
He apparently has a history of being toxic. I won't really shed any tears at his removal. I will only be saddened that so far hes the only one when all the CM need to get canned. (If twinbeard is CM he is excempt as he is the only one who actually seems able to do his job.)

Id rather have the credits, i bought the warbond with earned credits without the super citizen. I didnt want to spend extra money on a game i wasnt sure about at the time. Now im fine with spending the extra $20 for it if i got the credits to go with it instead of the one i already have.
I don't understand why it can't be both. The bundle is a warbond and a few little things, one of which can be accessed from a web browser(for free) and the other is an armor set with perk thats already on two others. Adding $10 worth of super credits would make the $20 price tag actually worth it. You would still get the warbond valued at $10 and $10 of super credits. I dont know why it has to be one or the other.

I just came back to WF after 4 years of hiatus. I started the day before all the issues came out. It was just in time.
Tbh Spitz decision to ask the players to review bomb and refund was the push that allow the community to rally up and retaliate against sony PSN. In the end, his decision does made a difference in helping Arrowhead studio negotiate the terms for it.
I will have to give that to the community. Spitz said it in a sarcastic way, but the community being so good at sporadic, spontaneous organization to know *exactly* what to do is impressive.

Imo that’s not what I would fire him for (if I were in charge) before he knew about the region locking (and a little bit afterwards, to be fair), he was being really condescending towards players that were criticising the change. That’s not something that somebody responsible for communicating to the players should be doing.

IMO this was absolutely warranted. The entire CM team aside from Twinbeard needs a stern talking to and mandatory PR training IMO. Spitz was the worst offender but most of them handled the situation extremely poorly and there was clearly not enough communication between them. They lacked critical information and were very disorganized. They need first and foremost to stop and understand the issue then come together discuss and make a plan of action on how to address the community concerns in a unified and professional manner. Clearly none of that happened and that's why the situation turned from bad to worse.

He got fired because he told encouraged players to refund and review bomb. Not because he was a shitty person, and I'm not saying that he WASN'T shitty at his job - but like so many others have said, some of the other CM's have said and done worse. way worse. - But only to the players/customers - NOT towards the company and it's partner Sony.
Something bad happened, Sony was going to lose money (over a product they did nothing for but publish) - and so they had to backpedal from forcing people to use PSN, which hurts their CEO's - second yacht fund, but also looks embarrassing on paper. So an example had to be made.

I'm from Trinidad, one of the countries that isn't listed among PSN's supported countries therefore I cannot legally create a PSN account. When Sony started pushing the account-linking requirement, I noticed that for me the ability to purchase the game (or additional copies as gifts in my case) was gone, but the Play button was still there and I was still able to play. Now that Sony claims to reverse course on mandatory account-linking, I'm still unable to buy copies of the game but still able to play.
Spitz deserved warning but his actions returned lot support to arrow head from comminity

Imo Spitz should just be retrained. Was he unprofessional yeah but the stuff he wrote about made him feel relatable and a comrade in arms
Spitz and most of the CMs could use some better training, and in his case I wouldn't mind if they decided to bring him back afterwards

Ah yes, Spitz "2 nerfs, rest buffs" (6-7 weapons were hit in the ammo/recharge values), or was it "it's only 120 seconds to make an account lol" (177 territories de-listed from steam soon after), "just refund and downvote" (no surprise this angered his EMPLOYERS and the community) or was it "eruptor buff/change inc" (eruptor is now 95% identical to the crossbow, except half the RoF/DpS but can kill factories/crates).
Far from the worst in PR/customer-facing attitude but his "announcements" were ALL way off the mark versus what was happening or changed.
By the way does anyone know how to get set of standard armor but fully yellow? I just saw fellow in that armor last session
I just want to take a moment aside to say that its good that this controversy involving the community managers happened sooner rather than later, before they became officially tied to the game in any formal capacity. While it is regrettable this happened at all, it will provide a valuable lesson for Arrowhead that many other dev-teams sadly learn the hard way.
Spitz deserves a second chance as he did own up and apologized for his own issues and quite literally help us with defeating sony by promoting the review bomb the game.
Meanwhile with the other CMs excluding twinbeard though...

Which is why Baskinator and the mod that threw BS allegations at Grummz are probably fine, despite definitely deserving the boot just as much, if not more.
Me and my partner are from the Philippines, and I my game used to crash a lot, but I still had it in my library.
A day later, we managed to fix it by changing a config file name, and I could finally dive with my fellow helldivers again. o7

Spitz's first comments were really not okay, but he realized his mistake, apologized, and did everything a real CM is expected to do. He put his post on the line to help us and was with us and supported us. I don't think he deserves to be fired; quite the opposite.

I have/had the issue with the Japanese version. For a while I was trying to find out why I have two SC icons and tally locations and no one else did. I couldn’t find info about it ANYWHERE. When I found 1000 SC in the game, I went to buy the warbond and it looked like the found SC wouldn’t apply to the purchase so I was worried about it pulling from my CC, but I did it anyway and it took from the found SC I had which was good!
Oh c'mon, Spitz had the ability to grow and actually say "Oh shit, I did not know this. I'm so sorry.".

I rather like my eruptor. I even use it on bugs now. Like my auto cannon before it I've mastered the art of blowing myself backwards out of bad situations. However I did notice some slight inconsistencies. I still love the thing. I just hope they dont nerf it any further. Taking half my magazines away was already a major issue. I dont mind the damage drop off faster per its blow back range, but thats oddly the part that feels slightly not consistent. 🏴☠

Because with 1000 super credits you can actually unlock any warbonds you want. I’ve unlocked steel veterans before buying the super citizen and that means i’ve wasted €10 after buying the super citizen because it’s €10 extra content + €10 warbond
That's fair but I think what's going on here is that some do not want it or already have the Steeled Veterans Warbond and instead would like a different Warbond.

Im mostly concerned about people who might have already bought steeles veterans and then purchased the deluxe edition later. What happens then? That imo is the primary reason why it should be changed to raw credits.

Relax guys, the ones that bought the steeled veterans first then bought the super citizen can be refunded 1k SC if you go to the arrowhead support, you need your steam receipt of the bundle tho, I did that and it took 2 days, the rest of the instructions is in the Discord FAQ.

Sony's original ultimatum about the Region Lock was somethign that was going to not go into hard effect until June. The ultimatum was in two parts: A) All *new* accounts after May #'th would require PSN to get anything beyond the intro start up video. B) *All Accounts* would require PSN log in after June #'th, roughly 30 days transition. I'm confident that anyone that did not refund from the Region Locked areas will find any blockage to their Super Destroyer is not due to the PSN requirement.
I would like pach logs to be accessible in game because you can no longer see patch logs on the ps home menu on the ps5 so it would be nice to have it in the game instead of having to go on the steam page to see what they changed, also it could be used for some world building

I dont think Spitz should have been fired, seems a bit too far. We all have bad days and with all the shenanigans going on with Sony and all, everyone was upset. No one is perfect.
FYI, the region lock on steam does NOT mean that the game gets removed from peoples Library. It just means that there is no way to purchase the game currently in those regions, but the game is still playable for those who still own it.
I work fast food and retail for years and the stuff I see online would havebme fired on the spot.
We want happy returning customers and we want them to tell their friends and family about us. Firing customers was only reserved for criminal actions like assault and vandalism.

Helldiver from the Philippines, I was able to play a few matches like normal. Just had some weird glitches like not being able to enter Pelican 1.
I'm in one of the blocked regions and neither me or my friends had any issues playing last week
The Eruptors strength is in the sheer number of niches it can at least operate in and frequently is BIS in many of those niches. Now that you have something that operates in so many niches you are now free to grab things you normally wouldn't because you have answers to problems the things your bringing cannot solve.

You Can still play from regions not supported by PSN(I'm from the Philippines) . I'm on ps5 and my friends are on PC. We play as a group together in the last few days. With linked PSN or without.

Since the super citizen edition was supposed to come with the second warbond, and I already bought the second warbond with credits found in-game, then if I opt to upgrade to the super citizen, It would really just be for the stratagem video game extra that you get on your ship. So I would appreciate an extra 1k credits to spend Either on a future warbond or in the super strore as I want. Completely brand new players that buy the super citizen edition could be given the choice of either the warbond or the 1k cost for it.

I bought the super citizen after I got the warbond. I sent in a ticket to support requesting 1000 super credits be added to my account. That was about 2 weeks ago I still haven't heard anything back.
I love all the warbonds! I've tried every primary, secondary n nade in the game. I love it all!
