I admire Bonynge for bringing so much obscure music back, and having a real love of it. I am always glad to hear more Massenet whom I love.

The melodrama movement ( 2nd) is just an astonishing 😲❤.

Absolutely stunning....I can't think of any other words to describe either the music or the performance. Bonynge had immersed himself in Massenet's compositions and it really shows here. The Decca sound is excellent, as to be expected from their engineering. That Decca sleeve has a late 1960s/early 1970s look about it, Bonynge clearly presented as the poster-boy of the conducting world!

When it comes to Massenet, few can compete with Richard Bonynge.
