From the title I come in expecting an analysis of Roger and his depth as a character and instead found an enjoyable commentary/recap of what we know of Roger thus far. Not what I expected but very good
If he had one flaw it would be how he treated his successors- Shanks was the obvious favorite but what he told him implied that he wasn’t going to be the one to carry the burden. And that led to choose Luffy over Ace once the former managed to take the power accidentally intended for the latter, whom he likely resented on some level for being the actual son over him. Buggy has severe issues over Shanks being the favorite but then Shanks seemingly gives up- making his inferiority even worse and that made him less motivated to do anything. And Ace, the person he named after his sword, his birth child with his lover, and the person he predetermined to be his successor- having birthed him for this purpose in the first place- has such identity issues that it led him to his demise

He relied only on his haki and spear.

If you notice he uses Haki and close combat more than he uses his devil fruit ability when he's fighting. For example, Whitebeard never used his devil fruit ability when he fought Roger. He relied only on his haki and spear.
