Really great info and tutorial. I have had the student version of MB for years (Autodesk lets me keep using it for some reason) so I do love keeping up with things I dont know. So this was very very helpful. Big Thanks :) 😉👌
when I lock x , y and z axis under IN PLACE option the character goes below the grid, may i please know the reason for this? And why is the hip control half red in color?
This is really great information! I haven't use this options before in gameplay animations normally we would just have the animations continuing its trajectory. What are the benefits of having the animation lock in place?
Good question Magnus! Some games use a "code driven" approach, meaning that the input drives a capsule, and the animations are only here to give visual feedback of what is happening. That is the default mode of Unreal, and in most cases the animations are exported in-place, the capsule taking care of the displacement in the world.
3:05 okay for the life I cant "bake" the in place animation, it just reverses to not being in-place ? how do I apply the in place mod? EDIT: maybe someone will have the same problem, I had to trim the shot, so I made character track, it doesnt work with that, when I plotted the track it worked !
From what I understood, you were reading an animation from a story clip. If you don't mute the Story, it will always overwrite the scene. Plot the clip to your character first, and then apply the in-place modifications. Which is what you ended up doing :)
Ah... man! Thank u!
Again ur tutorial saved my life!
Life-saver, thank you
