- Where to EAT in Kerala?! Kozhikode (CALICUT) foodie vlog 2024
Hey everyone!
Today our vlog is structured in a different way. We will capture the rest of our time in Calicut or Kozhikode getting all fat and happy sequentially by all the places we tried food at! Kozhikode is known as the food capital of Kerala and it's true... the variety you get here is unlike any other place we experienced while in Kerala. Today we will try food from Yemlek Nights (only during Ramadan), Kozhikode Beach snacks, Nahdi Mandhi, Ganesh shakes, Adaminde chayakada, Ambika hotel, Chandrettante chayakkada, etc. Unfortunately we were not able to go to ever restaurant we wanted given that it was ramadan and many places were closed during the day. This include Hotel Adele and Rahmath - so just a heads up there.
We were able to try Kerala's famous milkshakes, biriyani, mandhi, seafood sadya, paal kappa, kappa and fish tawa, quail eggs, gobi, egg curry, dosas, and more!
If you love food, you cannot miss out on Kozhikode. It doesn't seem like too many tourists will visit here which creates a richer experience. BTW we ate our favorite thing in all of Kerala in this video... I wonder if you can guess, hint.. Paal Kappa. We felt very welcomed here and hope that you love the vlog as much as we loved eating the food here.

ഇന്ന് നമ്മുടെ വ്ലോഗ് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. കിഴക്കൻ കേരളത്തിന്റെ ഭക്ഷണ തലസ്ഥാനമായ കോഴിക്കോട്, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കാലിക്കറ്റ്, എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തെ ഭക്ഷണകാഴ്ചകളിൽ മുഴുകി, ഒരുപോലെ സന്തോഷവും സമൃദ്ധിയും അനുഭവിക്കാം. ഇവിടെ ലഭിക്കുന്ന വിഭവങ്ങളുടെ വൈവിധ്യം മറ്റു സ്ഥലങ്ങളുമായി താരതമ്യപ്പെടുത്താനാകില്ല. ഇന്ന് നാം യെംലെക് നൈറ്റ്സ് (രമദാനിൽ മാത്രം), കോഴിക്കോട് ബീച്ച് സ്നാക്ക്സ്, നഹ്ദി മന്തി, ഗണേഷ് ഷേക്ക്‌സ്, ആദമിന്റെ ചായക്കട, അംബിക ഹോട്ടൽ, ചന്ദ്രേട്ടന്റെ ചായക്കട തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് ഭക്ഷണം പരീക്ഷിക്കും. ദുർഭാഗ്യവശാൽ, രമദാനായതിനാൽ ചില സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ പകൽ സമയങ്ങളിൽ അടഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്, ഞങ്ങൾ പോകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച എല്ലാ റസ്റ്റോറന്റുകളിലും പോയി കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഇതിൽ ഹോട്ടൽ ആഡെൽ, രഹ്മത്ത് എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു - അതിനാൽ ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പ്.
ഞങ്ങൾ കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ മിൽക്ക്‌ഷേക്ക്, ബിരിയാണി, മന്തി, സമുദ്ര ഭക്ഷണ സദ്യ, പാൽ കപ്പ, കപ്പയും മീൻ തവയും, കവുതണ്ടാ മുട്ട, ഗോബി, മുട്ടക്കറി, ദോശ എന്നിവയും കൂടി പരീക്ഷിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു!
നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം ഇഷ്ടമാണെങ്കിൽ, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് കോഴിക്കോട് കാണാതെ പോവാൻ കഴിയില്ല. ഇവിടെ തുര്‍സ്ഥാനുകള്‍ കുറവായതിനാൽ കൂടുതൽ സമ്പന്നമായ ഒരു അനുഭവം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു. 20:37 That is Kuttichira Mosque, one of the oldest standing medieval mosques.True that the construction was based on temple/Kerala architecture as the local workers didn't know any other method. Also the pond known as the Kuttichira, are historical sites.

Kerala has a long history of trade and migrations between Arabic nations.
Calicut may not seem like much but it has some of the food offerings in South Asia.

Yeah Calicut or Kozhikode is a bomb for foodies. I used to fly to calicut, stay there for two days for v food and then take a cab to kochi when I used to come to India for my annual vacation. It is also the cleanest city in kerala and has the most honest auto 🛺 drivers. Only place in kerala that autos actually use the meters
The 🛺 drivers are the best food critics in the city. So ask them for advice on where to eat
Omg you are so right, the taxi drivers were SUPER honest and kind here. It was amazing food wise also, we loved it. Try the adaminde chayakada next time if you havent already. we were blown away

Mac when you eat with your hands, try not to get food on the back of your fingers. That is the equivalent of good cutlery habits in kerala.

There is a huge festival coming up "ONAM" wish you could stay in kerala until then which is on september 14 th to 17 th. There are lots things going on like 1--pookalam[ decorating the floor in front of the house with a round of flowers in beautifully orderly designs which you can see in almost every homes those days]
2--puli kali [peoples painted up like tigers and lions on their tummys and dance to the rythem]
3-- vallam kali [boat race]
4-- biggest sadhyam, paysam

That's coz u haven't seen it. Lots of foreigners visit Malabar, some stay here for long and revisit. They are here for learning kalari, ayurveda treatment, for research also as tourists.
